Hi guys,

I am 38 weeks pregnant....due in 12 days!! :smiliedance:

I woke up yesterday morning with the biggest ugliest cold sore I have had in my life. :hair: I am not usually prone to getting them (maybe had a total of 5 or so my whole life)....& didnt get one with my first pregnancy.

I really want to get rid of it as fast as possible as I can basically go into labour any day now and dont really want all my nice newborn pictures that inlcude me in the photo to have this huge ugly swollen lip!

I remember some info about over the counter cold sore creams being not safe during pregnancy - so I was wondering if anyone can help me out & tell me what to do :fingerscrossed:

Thanks

If there is a safe remedy I would love to know too.
I used to take L-lysine which helped, but Im not sure if this is safe during pregnancy.

I find that ice helps to reduce the size of the sore, but only if you get in on in the early stages, when its first tingly. After that, its usually too late.

I read somewhere that icy-cold salted water might help.....does this sound like something I should be trying do you think??? It is now at the grose puffy/oozy stage & doesnt seem to be getting any bigger - how long do they usually last for??

i was told i could use SM33. its over the counter just dont over use it like any over the counter medications.
with SM33 you can usually only have to use it 3-5 times and they are gone

also salt water does work but it can be a slow process!
hope this helps!

I get really bad cold sores and since we started ttc I haven't been able to use my normal creams. So I went to the chemist and bought Lucas PawPaw Ointment. I use it on everything and one day decided to use it on a cold sore, it worked a treat! Took 2 days, I put it on before bed - I sort of packed it on. After 2 days it was gone!
