well it appears this will be my only choice now. i was wanting to go to cabrini but its fully booked :( and whilst i considered freemasons its just too far from me, it is more sensible to go to jessie mac (only 15 min or so away). so can people give me their experiences if they have been here or know someone who has? im not feeling OVERLY confident, i think only because it wasnt my first choice and cabrini just looks so beautiful :( am i guaranteed my own room? and will my partner be able to stay with me? any experiences you could give me would be great, thank you :)

Hi there I think we have talked before via pm messages???

If it makes you feel any better I live over a little over an hour away from Melbourne and I go to Freemasons!!! My obs is Guy Skinner and he is great and just monitors me closely to the end and won't leave me at home too long if things start happening when I near my due date.

You need to be 100% happy and confident with your obs and hospital you are going to and I feel that with both mine. I highly recommend them both to you

All the best, you can pm me again if I can help you any further :flowerz:

thanks lissa :) my original choice was freemasons, but this has changed after talking with my aunty who is a midwife. for various reasons we just decided that cabrini or jessie mac would be best for me. she was actually really only all for jessie mac. i also looked at a birthing centre but decided i want the security of having an ob. unfortunately it appears my choices in that have diminished too and everyone already seems to be fully booked! (knew i should have done this weeks ago). its not that im not happy with what ive ended up with, its more that it wasnt my FIRST choice so im just looking at getting others experiences i suppose just to give me a boost of confidence. its also that i feel im running out of time, so have just booked it in fear that if i dont, i may miss out completely :S
thanks :)

Hi Em

It's hard to know what to do with your first!!! I went to Freemasons as my mum worked there for 13 years and it's great and also Guy Skinner was recommended to me by the midwives and I haven't looked back.

I'm sure you will be happy once you start getting to know your obs you will get more at ease with each appt

Take care & good luck

Have you considered Waverley Private - a freind of mine went to Jessie Mac and said it was the same as being public just used a different entrance?? Give Waverley a call - I don;t think they tend to fill up as quickly as Cabrini and most of the obs that deliver at Cabrini will deliver at Waverley

I had a friends who said the same thing about Jessie Mac. She had to share a room with 2 other people for the first night.

Em i am sure you could get into waverley as mtjt25 said most Obs who do Cabrini and jessi mac also do Waverley, and that is such a nice hospital.

Jessi Mac is not all that flash but it's a great hospital in other ways, if you need special care you have the neonatal ward right there you are in the best possible hospital if something goes wrong with baby it has level 3 care, where most private hospitals only have level 2 so if the baby is prem or there are problems the baby has to be transferred to Monash hospital (which adjoind jessi Mac) Also i am told the Staff are brilliant!!

Positives outweigh the negative (which is cosmetic)

Can i ask who did you end up choosing for your Ob?

i know pretty much all of them around this side of town and can let you know that he / she is okay.

Cheerup!! You are haveing a baby!!:)

oh thanks so much all :) sorry i probably sound like a selfish cow, im just dissapointed im not getting to go to cabrini....i've been warned off waverly, for various reasons which i wont go into, but with my aunty being a midwife for a good 30 years or so i kind of trust what she says iykwim? i suppose everyone hears different stuff though so who knows what to believe?! i've heard the same stuff about jessie mac candyn... my ob is bin ly (sp?), hes only new so you may not have heard of him... i tried about 4 others before him but they were all booked out unfortunately...im really kicking myself i didnt do this when i first found out! i never even thought that i would need to... thanks again, maybe hopefully i can get he hotel transfer with jessie mac (although im tipping there is already a waiting list for that!)

Hi, I had Christine Tippett as my ob, but she was in Japan when my baby boy was ready to arrive, so Binh Ly delivered him. Binh is delightful - he came to see me everyday (sometimes twice a day) after the delivery, took time out to explain my whole delivery to me after the event (about 45 mins) and was so reassuring throughout the whole labour and delivery. He has a lovely calm, quiet demeanour about him that immediately puts you at ease. I was so impressed with him that I would be happy to have him as my ob next time round. You've made a good decision with him!

Hi There,

After much deliberation, i 've booked myself into Waverley Private. So far i've heard good things about it but being a worry wort, am still in 2 minds about WP or Jesse Mac.
I'm interested in knowing what the negatives are as mentioned in your post about WP.

Thanks
