I am a 29 year old mum of four gorgeous children who has decided to support other people through their birthing experiences (my uterus has had its fill so to speak!).

I am available for visits while you are still pregnant, to talk to you and anyone else you wish to have present at the birth. I am happy to help you through any fears that you face and support you emotionally through your pregnancy.

I can help you create your birth plan and talk about steps you need to take to create your perfect birth experience.

I have an open mind towards childbirth and know that different women need different experiences ie: homebirth, hospital birth, natural birth and pain relief.

I am happy to be there for the whole labour and afterwards, for as long as you need me, having a hands on experience with you - using massage, words of encouragement, aromatherapy and music - or to fade into the background quietly there when you need my support.

I can come and visit after the baby is born offering help with lactation, settling techniques and even show new mums and dads how to change nappies, bath baby and ways to swaddle newborns.

I live in the Sutherland Shire in Sydney but I am willing to travel to the surrounding suburbs.

I am currently booked for the month of July and hoping to find some more mums to support.

I have always been passionate about birth and babies. As a child when asked what I wanted to be I would answer that I wanted to be a mum and then to help ladies have babies in the hospital! These days, I don't mind where they choose to have them, I just want to be there to help the mums (and families) have the best possible birth experience, something they can really cherish and talk about for many years to come.

I am also happy to take photos such as the one in my avatar of my last baby being born - isn't just precious!

I am happy to talk about my own birth experiences too, just ask.

PM me, message me here or contact me at www.madebyrobyn@hotmail.com (http://www.madebyrobyn@hotmail.com)

Hi Doularobyn! I stalked you from the photoshop thread to see if you were a local doula. I'm due in June, but am booked in at Hornsby Kuring-gai Hospital. :( If I was closer, I would absolutely grab the opportunity!
I had another student doula organised, but unfortunately she had to move. aww

Just wanted to say good luck :D

I can still sort of be there via the internet for questions and support if you like?

You are the kinda stalker I like ;) haha

Dr Google isn't always right so don't forget to consult a health proffessional if you are really worried about something.

I wish you luck in your pregnancy :) I hope you have a joyous, memorable birth :)

*nods* I agree! Always a good starting off point before I bother the good people at the hospital, but it has diagnosed me with cancer/leprosy/funky chicken syndrome so many times that I always tread carefully!

Yeouch, that funky chicken syndrome can be nasty... you don't want that ;)

:) I have had lots of inquiries of late "....do you still have free positions..." - the answer is yes! I am happy to fill a few more free support spots because it seems like there are quite a few pregnant ladies who need me - and guess what, I need you too!:D

So looking forward to meeting up with you all (you know who you are!) and learning more 'on the job' so to speak :hugs:

:smiliedance:*how exciting*:flowerz:

Just a bit of a bump to the top so I don't get lost!

I look forward to hearing from pregnant ladies !!!!

I also would like contact from those ladies asking me to help them online with their birth plans too - how are you all going?

Do you want to attend a homebirth?

I'm undecided still whether to have a doula or not - since my IM is a fantastic emotional support as well as medical support. I still have a bit to think about - but I'm just wondering firstly if you are still 'free' or if you have attended a homebirth or want to attend a homebirth?

I would be delighted to attend your homebirth!

I would also be happy to work with your IM and support you in the joyous birth you crave :goodvibes:

I have not yet attended a homebirth but really have studied them as I planned on having my last baby at home but could not due to being induced early with pre-eclampsia :dizzy: I do have a personal passion for birthing at home and would love to vicariously through you haha!

As it sounds like you and your IM have build up a strong bond I would be happy to be in your 'secondary helper' role and to support you in anyway you see fit. I am happy to help you in the weeks after your birth too with emotional support and physical support too (making some dinners to freeze at your house and doing some odds and ends around the house - prefer not to use the housework word!).

Have a good think, I will be here when you need me :valentine:

Edit: I am free in the month of Nov and Dec - sorry I had forgotten to mention that!

Awesome Robyn :)

I'll keep you in mind. If you dont mind I'll chat with my IM when I see her in 2 weeks about the possibility of having you with us and work out how you would 'slot in' lol.

At the moment the biggest thing that I want/need at the birth that my IM and hubby cant provide for me, is an endless stream of photo's! I know that during the most 'hands on' moments I will want photos to capture the moment - but the two people who will be with me will certainly be busy!!! My IM will take photos - but it would be lovely to just have another support person whose primary role is photographer

I chatted with my IM and she is more than happy to have a doula present. Its just a matter of working out whether I want another person in 'my space' while birthing - thats all :)

I haven't forgotten you ;)

Eek! Sorry Robyn! I didn't see this until now.
We have a beautiful baby boy, now! Born 3rd of June. I was induced at 37 weeks because I ended up with obstetric cholestasis (and boy was it awful!!) But he and I are both doing well now. He is a good sleeper and has been breastfeeding beautifully since day one so I am very happy. :)
