Hi everyone:)
I have my first appointment at Concept fertility center in June and i was just wondering if anyone could offer me any information as to what it may involve. I have had the routine BT and U/S done with my GP and they all came back "normal" and DH had sperm test and that was fine aswell. We have been TTC for a year and are desperate for a:bfp: so we decided to go to the next step.
Any bit of info will be fantastic.

Hi Nat76,
Firstly I hope that your journey down this path is short lived with a BFP!!! :)
As for your 1st appt, I think that you can expect DH to have another SA done as your Doc will want the results to come out of a Fertility Clinic because they look for other thing's and go more indepth. ( I think I have that right, My DH has had to have 6 done:eek:)
You will also need to both have more bloods done as they will look for EVERYTHING from normal hormone counts to HEP C/HIV etc.
The Doc will take heaps of notes ask you a million questions about your health, cycle and how you have been trying.
I hope that I have helped in some way???????
If you have any more questions please just ask away.
**Edited to add that I would not think that any treatment would be started until the Doc has all the results back. If everything is fine per say then I think that they would talk to you about Clomid or IUI. Not sure fi you know what they mean but if you dont then just give us a holla and I will go into detail then. :)
Cheers
happy dance

Hi Nat,
I would also give concept a call 9382 2388 and they will send you out an info pack.
otherwise I agree with Mrs Pee

Sorry to but in but what is concept and what is in the info pack?
Weve been trying for nearly 12 months and will be seeing the docs soon for a referral. I too want to know what happens when you see FS.

Hi Charisma,
Concept is a fertility clinic in WA, the info pack just gives you facts sheets of different types of treament they provide along with information about the drugs used.
Your first appt with the FS will be a lot of history taking. I would suggest you both see your GP and have a hormone test and sperm test prior to your appt so that your FS can review. Also chart your periods for a while so that they know your cycle.
They will discuss different treament options or further investigations they may want to carry out to see the reason why you both cant fall pregnant.
All the best

Our experience (but based on a clinic in Sydney) ... our first appointment, after referral from wife's gyno involved a 2-3 hour meeting/interview where they explained all the details of ICSI, how the timings worked, what injections were involved, frequency all that stuff, then gave a big bundle of paperwork and info to read.
Then at the end of all that, we got to the business end of it all - they explained all the fees, charges etc ... what you could claim through Medicare, what you could claim though private insurance and roughly how much you would be out of pocket.
We also got the additional blood work done to confirm status of Hep/HIV and we also had tests done for something that totally escapes my mind but its the one where you scrape the inside of your mouth and send off the scrape to the lab. The name of it will come to me as soon as i press the "Submit" button I am sure, in which case I will edit this message.

My first FS appointment involved my husbnad and I getting the blood tests everyone has talked about, our medical history (which is sadley long) and to let us know what was involved.
Then she gave me a script for the pill and I organised appointment with the IVF clinic and well to cut a long story short I am about to have my EPU.
:fingerscrossed: for your natural conception in waiting, when I had my son (natural conception) I was told we both needed to take zinc and I also had a fertility tonic from the naturopath. Some say acupuncture and other natural health can also help.
Not stressing so much about it will probably help as well, good luck with your journey :)
