I know we shouldn't compare but I am interested to see what other toddlers my sons age are up to.
My boy is 17 months old (Oct 23rd 2004) and just crazy as hell - in a good way. For a start he is 14 kg and about 90cm tall - huge boy. Not fat just really solid.

He is a real boy, loves to wrestle, kick a ball around and play ball. Bit rough at times but we are gaining control over that. Loves to paint and guarenteed if I put music on he will start dancing.

He is and I think always will be a sleeper. He is still getting a good 11 - 12 hours a night and 2 hours sleep of a day. Still having 3 bottles a day but I'm going to try next week to throw the bottles out. Not sure if it will work but we will try hard

I work part time and he is in daycare. Thinks its great. Some days though gets a bit clingy when being dropped off, other days just waves goodbye. He is only now going through a clingy stage. And for some reason he is going through a stage of being scared of men??

He is a real chatter box. He talks non stop but its his own language! His clear and always used words are - mum, dad, grandad, aunty, kayla (cousin), school (daycare), dog, cat, lizzy (pet lizards), uh oh, yes, no, wow, pretty (everything is pretty), hello, bye. He likes to ask people "what doing". He has others, these are just the ones that I hear most days.

Hey Kamaika,

How are you and your man? Well my DS was born on the 30th of October and he is little compared to your son. He weighs 10kg and about 80cm tall.
He is a little terror at most times. He loves drawing riding his bikes, playing with his gocart, loves the puppies and our dogs. He is very helpful and prefers being outside.
He says a few words like, mum, dad, don't, get, whose that?, there, where, uh oh, bear (his dog), hello, bye, ta and huh? but there are more though.
Jayden sleeps in his own bed know he said goodbye to his cot about 2.5mths ago which was good he just screamed when I put him in it. He gets about 4 to 6 bottles a day, just only started drinking milk out of a cup. :smiliedance:
Still has 2 to 3hrs of sleep during the day and at night time it averages from 8 to 12. Demands what the weather is like and how he is feeling.

Where abouts do you live?

I have a DD, born 27/8/04.

She is tall (mum 160cms dad 6ft 4) everytime she puts weight on she grows taller, she is 10kgs at the moment.

She chats allllllllllllllllll day, most is still jibberish but is starting to say lots of things clearly, she eats alllllllllllllllll day, I dont know where she puts it, she plays with my friends son who is 1mth older and is a real little boy, so she isnt too girly.

She went into big bed a 14months old, she is scared of the potty and the toilet, so I dont know how to get on there???? any advice????

she loves out pets and I am puting her in daycare 1 day a week starting in may.

I think being 7weeks early, she has done well, but I still believe they will do it when they are ready:)

I have a DD ages 14 months. She has just gone into a big bed, a big racing car one!!

She sleeps about an hour a day and has about 12 hours sleep at night. She is reeeeaaly boisterous! Constantly running around and bashing into things. She talks lots these days. She has been 'dancing' for about 4 months now, bopping away!:smiliedance:

We have just bought her a potty though she doesn't feel ready to use it yet (trust me, i can tell).

She is really tall as both me and her dad are tall. She weighs 10kg.

Urm what else. She was in daycare 2 days a week, up untill 2 months ago when they relocated.

She has just started to sit still for 5 mins while I read to her.

That's it I think!:smiliedance:

Hi All
Nathan was born 24th Oct 04 so is 1 day younger than your little boy Kamaikia. He is still just under 10kg and about 2 mths ago he was 86cm so he is a tall skinny boy.
Like most of your kids he talks all day long saying Mummy, Daddy, Narla ( dogs name), cat, dog, ball, car, No, water ( even if its milk he wants), wheat bix, bicky, duck, fish, frog, monkey, bird, butterfly and of cause his favourite word TRUCK. Today he has just started to say please so he thinks by saying this he gets anything. When he isn't blabbering along he is telling off his big sister.
Nath is still in a cot thank goodness otherwise he would be in our bed at 4am everymorning:eek:
I managed to get him off his bottles at 12mths it took about 2 weeks but he did get the hang of it.
As for the potty well he finds it great fun to sit with his feet in the potty and say wee wee, never once has he weed though.
Its great to hear what all the kids are up too.

Well I'll admit me and my son share a bed. He hates the cot and I have been happy sleeping with him. Due to me waking early for work I would love to get him in his own bed but I worry about him getting out in the morning and doing something stupid. How does everyone stop this. Gate on the door?
I'll be honest and admit I haven't even thought about toilet training yet. I figure it will be harder in winter so I will wait until next summer. He really hasn't got any idea about wee and poo yet, just that mum changes nappies.
We've been trying reading books. He loves them but 5 minutes in usually his max. He likes to look at the pictures in books of animals and copy the noises they make. So far he knows the noise a lion makes and ask him what a dog does and he barks - its quite cute.
Tonights newest is walking around poingting to things saying - There it is.

Hay Kamaikia I am thinking the same as you the toilet training will be easier in summer, its my DD who has tried teaching him to use the potty.
Spending 5 min looking through the pictures in a book is very normal at this age, Nathan loves bringing me books to read but if they have a picture of a truck in them we have to go straight to the truck:rolleyes:
Anyone elses child obsessed with trucks?
One of Nath's favourite games at the moment is to name parts of the body only problem is he thinks it is very funny to do it while I am on the phone. So there I am with his fingers up my nose saying "nose, nose" and his fingers in my mouth saying"teeth, teeth" all while I'm trying to cary out a conversation.
I really love how he is at the age where each day he says new words.

Its not trucks for my son - he is obsessed with planes. We went to the coast awhile back and the chopper was going back and forth past our high rise and he fell in love. Luckily quite a few choppers and planes go over us.
I'm really interested to hear from you mums with your kids in beds already. Oh I can't wait to get my bed back
I was actually just talking to a friend the other day who has a 18 months old and a two week old. I was saying I think this age is alot better than that newborn stage and she thought I was crazy. Maybe I am but he is actually turning into a person, with attitude, a sense of humour - everything and I'm loving every last little bit of it - even the tantrums - they are hilarious, the older he gets the more dramatic they are - just like watching a comedy some days.

My son is 20 months and is not syaying much at all except daddy really clearly. He has all of his teeth is 14.5kg and over 90cm tall.
He is full on hardly sleeps just runs on heaps of food. He is still on bottles am reluctant to take him off cause he is lactose intolerant and not getting any other dairy.
He moved into a big bed at 17months and is loving it. He is understanding alot and I can ask him to do most things put things away, put the towel in the bathroom, go to bed and he just does.
He loves wooden puzzles can point to most objects in a book and loves the wiggles he calls them 'gools'.
He is peculiar at times I think it's OCD, he is really tidy, lines up shoes can't have a thing out of place very unlike his mother. His room is tidier than mine. I can really see his personality. He is confident, very social, says hi to anyone, he is always laughing cause he thinks he's so smart.
We walk every night and he says all the numbers the best he can on the letter boxes, everything is mostly '6' doesn't that mean he's the devil!!!! ha! ha!!
I can watch him for hours.

wow another mum with a lactose intolerant bub. What formula have they got him on. My son is on digestalact - absolutly horrible stuff - the powder never dissolves properly.
What is his diet like without the dairy. I have found my son can tolerate small amounts of sliced cheese but thats about it. Yogurt, custard and cream will guarantee me a good nights pain and screaming. Its funny if he is given dairy foods through the day I can confidently say that between 10pm - 11pm his pain will start. Its always at this time - not sure why exactly.
I just found out that you can get enzymes to put into dairy foods that break down the lactose so they can eat certain things.
My boy had his first taste of ice cream the other night and went crazy. I never knew you could buy lactose free ice cream but mum found it.
Its funny that you say your son likes the number 6. My son its all about number 2. Before he does anything he says 2. I know he is trying to count just can't get the other numbers out.
Anyone who reads this I am still waiting to see how you go about stopping your child from getting out of their own bed and trashing the house of killing themselves.
