View Full Version : how many in one room?
how many kids do you have in one bedroom?
do you think 4 boys (12,10,7,7) is too many? (it will be a big room... like 5mx3.5m and they will be in bunks still, twins on bottoms)
I reckon that will be fine....look at how many the Duggars have to a room:laughing:
I think kids actually learn alot from sharing rooms

If you have to make do i dont see why not. We have enough rooms here for them to have their own but i want to keep one room as a office/sewing etc room. So they get stuck with sharing, two of them LOL
When i was younger i shared with my 3 sisters in bunks, our room was about 5 x 4 it was huge and there was heaps of room! The only time i think it would have bothered us is when we hit the teens but we moved before then :)
With a room that big I don't see a problem with it! :)
Atm we have 2 boys in one room and our girl in the other. Because my daughter is 8 now I do worry how she would go sharing with a toddler. And if we have a boy then how we could fit 3 boys in one room.
But I do think its good for kids to share rooms. It has helped a lot to have the boys together - they seem to get along better now.
my DHs aunty and uncle have 8 children...
they have 3 bedrooms, one for them, one for the girls and 1 for the boys...
6 boys in one room, 3 sets of bunks (in a room a tiny bit bigger than the one you have!)
2 girls in the other (a tiny room!)
the kids love it!

can I ask how old the boys are?
Friends of ours with 8 children live in a 2 bedroom house....all the kids (8 of them) share the one room! 4 sets of bunks fit in the room and nothing else and they are all touching each other!
They are great kids and the room actually looks like a lot of fun!

My mum grow up with 10 brothes and sister in a 3 bedroom house. Plus her mum and dad so thats 12 people in a 3 bedroom house:hair:

the boys are 11, 9, 7, 4, 3,1
the girls are 10 & 6
thanks QTB the first 3 boys are about the same ages as mine then ;)
I guess, my dad grew up with 7 siblings in 2/3 bed house
I am just looking at options, and going to ask parents if we could possibly build something out the back of their house.. the edlest practically lives there already, and he will stay inside with them (being my mum, dad, brother, nanna)
I have just got some plans found with a 4bed home but thinking it would be best turned into a 3 and took one wall out making beds 2+3 into one room for the boys. small kitchen, small bathroom, no laundry, small dining area, but rather big lounge. if I had the 4boys in one room, then there would be room for a big desk in their for them all to have their own pc's so very minimal fights LOL plus with a bit of room to play.
that way, in the future, we could posibbly swap, and they have the out the back 3bd place, and we have their 4bd place giving more room. LOL.. of course we need their permission, and what they think of the idea..
we would still have access to inside, and thats probably where we would cook, inside, but just have our own if we wanted midnight snacks and the likes...
we lived inside with them before... when we had 5 kids (minus my nanna being there) so that was 10 in a 4bed place (small rooms)
so its up to them, and if they approve, LOL, get council approval etc...
the boys are 11, 9, 7, 4, 3,1

Holy moly!!!!!!!!!!!!! Thats an awesome family there!
We have two boys in one room and the girls each have their own at the moment. When DD2 turns 2 the girls will share a room as well so we have a guest room. So we'll essentially have 2 kids per room (our house has 4 bedrooms).
So many people(well our friends with 1 or 2 children) ask us why we dont 'just do an extention' so the kids can all have their own rooms. I dont want to- they kids love it- i love it and i think to myself what will i do with all those rooms when they leave home? Clean them- thats what. I would rather us all be close together in a not too big house- i love the closeness our home forces us to have.
