We're planning on TTC soon and with any luck there will be less than a 2 year gap between DD and the new bub.
Looking at different prams.. I'm curious, for those with 2 under 2 (or 3), what did you find the best option?
Prams with a skateboard attached so the older kid could hop on it?
Or a separate toddler seat?
TBH I'm thinking of forgoing both options and just using a sling or my Mei Tei with a single pram..
Like to hear some thoughts. :)
There's 25 months between dd1 and dd2. I have used all 3 things that you mentioned, sling, toddler seat and skateboard.
When dd2 was little I prefered to taker her out in the sling and push dd1 in the stroller. For longer outings, I would use the toddler seat (which was great except it didn't recline when dd1 fell asleep). IMO the skateboard was a waste of money. It made the pram heavier, I couldn't put my nappy bag on the pram because dd1 needed to stand where the bag would normally be.
When #3 arrives, I plan on using the stroller for dd2 and the sling for the baby and use the pram and toddler seat when we're out for long stretches of time.
There is 26 months between our DD1 and DD2. We have a Phil and Teds pram with the double kit. This has been great and DD2 is only 11 weeks. We can just take the toddler seat off the front if DD1 wants to walk (you can leave it on all the time if you want). Bub or toddler can use the main seat if double kit not on. The toddler seat is great to restrain (for want of a better word) DD1 if she has a tantrum in the middle of the shops and DD2 is sleeping. Otherwise, with a single pram you have to wake bub up to put into the sling so that the toddler can be put in the pram! We love this pram (bit expensive though).

I agree with the above.
23 months between my two.
Skateboard is a waste of time and money. DD doesn't particularly like it because she can't see over the pram, and it make the pram difficult to manoeuvre and bad for my back because you have to stand/walk in an awkward postition to lean over to reach the handles. Not many toddlers will ginuinely enjoy staying on it for long, so not much use for mammoth shopping trips (or even little ones in my experience:no:)
Toddler seat good, but check weight restrictions, my toddler is big and will soon be too heavy for it. It works well, but I have had a few close calls with nearly toppling over on sloped ground. Again toddler cannot sleep in it. My particular pram leaves very little leg room for the underneath bub.
In the early days, I used single stroller and a sling until it got too uncomfortable. Also unable to put bub down.
My advice if I were doing it again would be to splash out the cash and get a Phil and Teds or the new Love 'n' care Europa which are a better design for 2 toddlers in my opinion.
Good luck.

Just out of curiosity, what brand/model of pram and toddler seat did you have?

We loved the skateboard. There's 2.5 years between my two & Justin had long outgrown the pram, though the first few times he got a bit possessive of the pram. Once he calmed down he wanted to ride on the basket or push the pram. Once I got the skateboard he loved it cos he could 'push' the pram. Now Natalie's 9mths we just use a trolley, heaps easier.
I think it depends on your child. A few months after Justin could walk he hated the pram & never sleeps on shopping trips so a double pram/toddler would have been a waste of money & increased tantrums for us.

I have a Maclaren MX3. They make awesome strollers, and this is a great single 3 wheeler, but I;d avoid it as a double.

I have a hola pram with a valco toddler skateboard. My DS is 3 and DD 8mths. I love it. DS hops on when he is tired or walks beside me holding the pram. He manages to sit in the footwell with his feet on the board when he is really tired too. I carry a ribbon that I use to 'hook' the board up underneath the handles of my pram when it is not being used. Works really well!
When DD was first born I used a double pram for the first few months. I was scared my DS would run away on me with only the board. 4mths later he had matured enough for him not to run away :yelclap:.
