Can anyone share with me some fun food ideas for a group of toddlers. A few mums and I are getting together with the toddlers and I really cant think of a lot of foods the kids might 'want' to eat - IYKWIM!
Would appreciate your input!

thanks
Carol

My DS isn't a toddler yet, but I enjoy catering for my niece and nephew's parties.

I usually do stuff like........

Chocolate Crackles
Honey Joys
Jelly Cups with Choc Frog in there
Mini Pizza (cheap brand in the frozen food section - they're great  )
Little Boys & sauce
mini pies & sausage rolls (mini pasties are $$$$)
cup cakes with different colour icing and sprinkles

sorry, none of it is healthy food, but they all eat it :o. Depending on how old the kids are you could do a fruit fondue (without the flame) - just a bowl of melted choc in the middle of the table (I think if you put cream in it it won't set so quickly ) and then pieces of fruit for them to dip. You could do the same with cheese - and have pieces of bread and crackers and vegetables for them to dip. Like I said, my DS is still a bubba, so I may be waaaaaaay off the mark and this could be totally inappropriate, but it just sprung to mind so thought I would mention it.

depending on the age- Healthy stuff is the way to go till they are too old to realise:D

I make whole wheat pikelets and make mini pizzas, muesli slice (no nuts)
depending on the age-popcorn (taking out the hard bits) dried fruit, oat biscuits
mini quiche homemade chicken nuggets (oven bakes) home made baked chips
fruit tray

and last but not least-----a big unhealthy chocolate cake to make up for all the healthy stuff:laughing:

Hi Mummy-2-2.

I'd love the recipe for the muesli slice ! :-)

And I agree I tend to go with the healthy stuff as much as I can...

I was thinking of the fruit tray as well. So thats the go.

Would love to hear any more ideas! :chef:

Muesli Slice

125g butter
1/2 cup firmly packed brown sugar
1 tablespoon honey
2 cups rolled oats
1/4 cup sesame seeds, toasted
1/4 cup sunflower seeds, chopped finely
1/4 cup desiccated coconut, toasted
1/4 cup finely chopped pecans or walnuts
1/4 cup sultanas
2 tablespoons unprocessed bran
1/2 teaspoon ground cinnamon

I normally skip the nuts, and therefore you can reduce the butter and sugar a bit too. (Im a bit hit and miss there so not sure of exact measures)

Grease a 20x 30cm lamington tin. Combine butter honey and sugar in medium pan; stir over low heat until sugar dissolves. Stir in remaining ingredients. Press mix into prepared pan;bake in moderate oven about 25 mins or until browned lightly. While still warm, cut through bar into 15 pieces; cool in pan. Makes 15. Storage: airtight container up to four days.

fruit bars
vegetable rosti
Fruit juice and soda water for "fizzy drink"
little frankfurts
cheese
if its hot- you can give froz yoghurt "icecreams"

ummmm- I think Im out!!

I've made up noodle boxes with a 'mini hotdog' and oven fries in it.
That way the kids can carry them around with them (so they don't have to sit still) & still actually eat something.
The mini hot dogs are the little frankfurts put into those dinner rolls that the supermarkets sell (you bake them in the oven for a few minutes), they're just the right size for little hands to hold on to. You could even put shredded cheese into them for something extra.
