My daughter is playing up at night time at the moment.
I am wondering if i am expecting too much sleep from her now that she is getting a little older. She is 22 months old and sleeps for 2 hours during the day (around 12.30pm) and then goes to bed about 8pm and wakes about 6am.
She used to sleep longer at night and when she is waking in the morning she still seems tired but i cannot get her back to sleep?? Just wondering if this seems like enough sleep for her ???
Some people have said to cut her day sleeps out or down so that she sleeps longer at night but i don't know if this will work.
How much sleep does your children have?

All I can say is you're making me jealous.............. and my DD's only 14 months!! Sounds pretty good to me :)

It sounds very similar to the routine DD#2 got into when she was about 2 years old.
I'd hesitate to try to cut the daytime sleep. She'd fall asleep in her dinner, or just not eat it, as well as being bratty in the afternoons.

She seems to be sleeping about as much as my DD1 did when she was a similar age!!
Sounds normal!!
Hi Briansmum. My DD is nearly three and has basicly the same sleeping pattern. A 2-3 hour nap after lunch ; bedtime is 8.15 pm and she will sleep til 6 or 7 am. On the days that she has no nap her sleeping pattern is still the same. Even if DD goes to bed later she still pretty much wakes at the same time.
sounds the norm to me.. Ds1 is 28 months old and he still has his arvo aleep for 2 hours... he goes to bed at around 8-8.30.. and will wake up once or twice during the night.. and he is up and out of bed at 5.30-6.30 each morning

Thanks everyone for your replies.
I think that because she is such a tall child that everyone forgets that she is still only 22 months old and not 2 1/2 -3 years old when they tell me to cut her day sleep out.
I have put a very dull night light in her room tonight to see if this helps her self-settle back off to sleep. :fingerscrossed:
Thanks again.
Janet.

My DS is 22 months old and sleeps from 7pm - 5:30am, then again from 8:30am - 10:30am and again from 2:30pm - 4pm.
He is at Daycare 3 days per week and they cut out his afternoon sleep....but then again, they don't see him a 5 o'clock when he is so overtired
He's pretty flexible with his day sleeps but needs to get at least 1 hour at each one.
I wouldn't be cutting out her day sleep if you can avoid it. I can't even imagine my son with no day sleeps:eek: :hugs:
