Morning,I am in some desperate need of help...everytime I leave the room my 1 year old screams and follows me, but won't stop until I pick her up. I don't know what to do, I have tried setting her up with some toys and leaving for just a few seconds and then coming back, but it doesn't seem to help.We have also been having some trouble during the night, she will wake and it will take 1.5 hours to get her back to sleep.I don't know what it is or what to do, it just upsets me so much.....Can anybody help?

Hi mum2bee,

:hugs: I am sorry that you're going through a tough time.

I think bub must be going through separation anxiety. My DD is the same, she wants to be held all the time. What I usually do is I let her play with toys, and I pop around the corner, if I hear her whinging for me, I say "Where's Ummi (mummy)?" and she comes crawling looking for me.. And when she finds me I quickly get on all fours and crawl toward her and she runs away.

I can usually get away with going into the bathroom and cleaning it while saying "Where's Ummi?" Or cleaning the kitchen etc. I think she is starting to learn that I am still around, as sometimes she just peeks to see if I am there.

I guess what I am trying to say, is try to make it into a game. When you leave the room, say "Where's mummy?" And they think you're playing with them, rather than just leaving them.

Just have to remind ourselves that it is just a phase and it will get better :fingerscrossed:

I have tried setting her up with some toys and leaving for just a few seconds and then coming back, but it doesn't seem to help.

Have you tried doing this with either the radio or TV on? I found it worked for DD1 at that age. I think it made her feel like someone was always there with her.
