hi ladies, i did a post in the miscarriage thread but the traffic in there isnt as high, so thought i'd write in here.
i had a d&c after missed mc last week and gyn said try not to fall pg till 2 cycles (emotionally and for some unknown reason you are more likely to carry to term if you wait).
then...i went to gp yesterday and i asked her when to start ttc. she also said 2 cycles...but because the cervix has been stretched it is weaker and you dont want it to fall out. has anyone heard of this?
has anyone successfully fall pg straight after d&c and went to term with healthy bub? i really dont want to wait as the gap is getting bigger. had early mc in oct last year also. so the whole process is taking so long. any ideas?

My friends have heard everything from "start trying immediately" to "wait three months"

????

After a miscarriage we had 4 yrs ago I was told wait 3 months.
And someone I know just told me after their D&C their ob said they could start trying whenever they felt ready....

Just another myth of motherhood ay?

Firstly, I'm sorry that you have had to go through all of this and am so sorry for your loss.:hugs:

I spent a bit of time researching the whole 'wait or not' argument and honestly, never found a valid reason to wait at all.

My OB finally said that the reason he likes people to wait is both so they are emotionally ready and also so they have a LMP for him to easily date off as otherwise it can be quite stressful if a lady comes in and thinks she is 7 weeks when she is only 4 etc.

My current bub was conceived one cycle after a M/C. My son was conceived 4 cycles after a M/C but that wasn't through lack of trying.:o

Hi

Sorry I missed your earlier thread and so sorry for your loss.

I too was told a mixture of things. I waited one cycle before trying again.

Good luck:babydust2:

I'm sorry to hear about your loss - I know how you feel because I've been through it myself :hugs:

But in answer to your question....

YES  I fell pregnant STRAIGHT AWAY after my D&C... didn't even wait a cycle because I really wanted to have a baby and to be honest there was nothing that could ease my hurt and pain of the loss except by being pregnant again.... the doctor said it was ok for me to try straight away (as soon as the bleeding ceased).

My doc said it was ok to try without waiting for a cycle mainly because I had had no problems conceiving before - I think they like to wait to see if everything returns to normal but if you have had a full term pregnancy before then there shouldn't be a problem trying again soon after.

They say you can fall pregnant soon after a D&C because your womb is actually quite "clean" afterwards - great nesting material LOL :p

All the very best and :babydust2: to you...

I'm so sorry to hear of anyone losing a baby.
I lost a bub at 18wks, and after d&c was told I could try whenever bleeding stopped, but also to think very hard about whether the emotional strain and pregnancy were going to be a good thing for me. Unless told to wait because of medical reasons I just think its a personal choice. Dh and I have waited 6 mnths and I think it was waaaayyy toooo long!!!

Really sorry for your loss :hugs:

I was told to wait for 2 cycles as bubs would have a better chance of sticking. But I ended up falling pregnant 4 weeks after my miscarriage and everything was fine!

:hugs::hugs:I am so sorry to hear of your loss. I truly understand I m/c my twins in Jan this year.

I was asked to wait one cycle. The reasons given was to give the best environment for bubs to stick (reduce the chance of it happening again) and also one if the side effects of the D&C can be scarring is caused which can cover the opening to the uterus and so that like to make sure that your cycle comes back probably first. The uterus stretching comment sounds reasonable to me. 2 cycles is a long time wait when you so want to have another baby.

Good luck.

PS - this is the first month of trying again for me and I am pretty sure I am pg. BT during the week inconculsive and I took another BT today so am awaiting results. (Test original done as my OB wanted to do some general BT as part of my follow up after the m/c due to my unexplained fertility problems.) I also did a HPT today and it was positive!!! This time was without fertility treatment too!

I really hope the same will happen for you. Don't loose hope. It will happen for us all.
