Yes, I am a Doula, Kat. :) I've just moved back to Tasmania from Melbourne, where I've lived for the last 5 years. Prior to that I was Tassie born and bred. I only know of one other Doula in Tasmania so far; she trades under the name "Motherwise" and is based in Sandfly. Other than that, it's just me, to my knowledge (though I'm sure there could be more of us here that I just don't know about yet). My business name is Metamorphosis Doula Service; I'm just in the beginning stages of establishing it here in Tassie now. :) Keeping a low profile until I've got my webpage and some other basics off the ground, then I'll start getting out there a bit more. You're expecting your first babe - how wonderful! :D Where are you planning on birthing?

We moved down to Hobart 13th Feb, but only got the net connected last week.

Hi Felicity!

I'm planning on having my bub at the Royal Hobart Hospital in the birthing center.

Fingers crossed that they have a spare room for me though, It seems everyone is popping about the same time at the moment! LOL :)

I will accept it if I need to, but I really dont like the idea of being in a ward. I like the thought off having our baby in a slightly more relaxed homelike atmosphere of a birthing suite sooner than being in a ward.

Hopefully if all goes to plan we will be having our bub before or over Easter!

I'm from Tassie too. just wondering how Kat is going she's due tomorrow, how exciting for her. I'll be thinking of you over the next few days Kat. i had my little girl by c section at the royal and i can't commend them enough they were great.

Feel ready to pop right open though! LOL We have our Ob appointment on Friday if nothing has happened by then, and they will probably schedule an induction for that week sometime.

Hopefully will go before or on Tuesday. Steven would like to start his holidays by the end of Easter..... :)

Just called my cousin who is visiting Tas with two girlfriends and they are staying in my house.
Now I want to be there too!!!!

Hi all,

having posted my original message asking where all the tassie mums are I have been AWOL myself too!

My mum has come over from England to spend a few weeks with us, it was all rather last minute so I have been busy showing her some of the sites and sounds of Hobart and surrounding areas (not that I know much haivng only been here a few weeks myself!).

Kat - how exciting, perhaps you will have a little Easter baby! My eldest is an April boy, he was due on the 18th and arrived just in to the 23rd. I really hope everything goes smoothly for you.

Kevinbudgie, there are people staying in my house in England right now and I am insanely jealous of them, I love my house thre and now spring is coming all the daffodils will be out and although it is lovely here coming in to Winter is not as nice as coming in to Spring!

Olivia&Bellasmummy - good to see you on line, we arrived on the 16th Feb but my husband being the internet geek he is we were online actually before we arrived. I hope you are settling back in to Tassie living, it has taken me a few weeks to feel at home, I felt very homesick the first 4 weeks but now places and faces are becoming familiar which makes things feel better. I am still very homesick but realise that there is nothing i can do about it so I just have to enjoy my time here.

Hi Kristy,

I have been to the play centre in Kingston, it is good, in fact my eldest son is having his birthday party there this coming weekend!

We are here now for at least a year, some days i am property hunting for a more permanent stay and other days I am wanting to get the next plane back to England - early days yet...lol

Yes I am definitely up to meet for cofee or something, I guess there is a good place as the children can be amused, another good place, weather permitting is the little play area just out the back of Pumpkin Patch in Hobart. I spend many an hour there with a coffee whilst Toby plays!

I am pretty busy with my big boys off school at the moment, they go back after Anzac's day so sometime after that would be good. I have also started going to a Tiny Tots on a Wednesday morning but have only managed to get there once so far!!!
