Ok...
theres no way around this so i was just wondering..............

what do you all use remove the jungle from down below???

i'd rather not keep shave because it is as ithcy as hell and i want to wax BUT i'd rather inflict the pain on myself and do it myself than have someone else do it...

so saying that what does everyone else use and whats the best brand product to buy?

Although shaving is itchy, the itch is temporary. After about 3 or 4 goes, it goes away. And it does feel so much better.

Due to sheer laziness, I currently just trim the hair every-so-often with a pair of blunt tipped scissors - grab some hair, pull and hack. What a terribly sexy way of putting it, huh? :D

Oh, and if you are going to shave, do so after you've had a shower. The hot water will help soften the hair and make the whole process so much easier. Also, make sure you use a shaving cream of some kind and moisturise afterwards.

Also make sure you exfoliate the area every day so you dont get get ingrowns and the pop a bit of moisturiser on there. I was a beauty therapist before jazz was born and i used to do up to 10 Brazilian waxes in a day. So i have a bit of experience in this area!!:p

Veet hair removing creme! (for sensitive skin)

Wack it on, wait 8 mins, rinse, and voila, no hair for about 4 days.

I know it says you should only do ur bikini line with it but I just do everything. I don't like hair.:p

Hey there,

I am a beauty therapist and I do waxing from home now. I think the worst thing you can do is wax down below yourself, honestly its so much harder and will take so much longer ( you pause to think of the pain before each rip!!)

Dont be embarrassed to go to a salon and see a therapist, honestly we see it everyday! Waxing down below for a beauty therapist is like a check out operator scanning groceries! Probably not the best comparison !! LOL:laughing:

With waxing you will probably only need to get it done once every 3-4 weeks depending on how fast your hair growth is but its better than shaving every 2nd day and getting itchy and ingrown hairs!

Good Luck!:p

Waxing is definately the way to go because (a) re-growth takes longer (b) the more often you have it done the less hairs grow back (c) the re-growth is not prickly/itchy.

It's best to get it done by a professional though, I like the comparison to scanning groceries above  , but its true!.

Just remember not to have waxing done a week before AF or a week after as it will definately be more ouchy!

I would love to get waxed but i'm too scared of the pain. Also not to fond of anyone being in that area :o

Be honest, how painful is it, what is re-growth like, cost approx?

No very painful, not as painful as childbirth! :D For my 1st time I took 2 panadol 1/2hour before hand and just before had some rescue remedy!

Re-growth is for me 3-4weeks and the amount has become less and less over the years.

Cost is from $45 (depending on how hairy you are).

um, Im no wimp when it comes to pain but my brazillion hurt more than anything I have ever felt in my life. I would go through 10 consecutive c sections rather than get in done again!

And she didn't even do it properly:mad: I still had bits and patches of hair when i looked.
I nearly stopped her half way through because I was seriously gonna pass out!!!!

Do you think she did it wrong or something? I mean i know it's supposed to hurt but nothing as bad as that. And the wax was sooooooo hot it burnt when she put it on!!!! Is that normal????

lol i can handle the pain thats not an issue... i handle pain better when it is self inflicted...lol rather than someone else do it... if you know what i mean.

where do you go to buy the stuff to do it?

i use veet salon wax.... you can buy it from any chemist and some supermarkets... Its one of those waxes that you don't need strips of cloth you just put it on and wait like 20 secs for it to dry a bit then pull it off. :D

HAPPY WAXING!

As the area is pretty invisible without some contortionist training and a few mirrors, I'd be terrified of doing it myself in case I got wax on areas that ought not be waxed ...

That, and I'm allergic to pain :p

As for supplies, try Priceline. They have a fairly big range of home waxing kits of varied types and prices. I'd say stay away from the plastic backed pre-waxed strips - I used those on my legs once and found them ineffective and messy.

Nair Salon Divine looks interesting, though. Might give that a try in a couple of weeks before my trip to Queensland.

If I were you, I'd SERIOUSLY just get it done by a professional. I know it seems better to be in control of the pain yourself...in theory.

The reality of it is, you are much more likely to cause yourself immense pain than a trained professional is (I should know - I am one...and even WITH that knowledge, I can't wax myself for peanuts!). You also don't have the ability to SEE the right spots, or BEND appropriately in order for your arms to REACH those spots correctly...and it just takes FOREVER to DIY.

As for the burning someone said they experienced...it generally FEELS hotter than it is because it's a sensitive area. Also, after the wax has been removed from a particular area already, the second lot applied to same area burns because all of the blood is rushing to the surface, wondering what the hell is going on. When I've done my friends (not clients...I'd never say this to them), I just tell them to suck it up and deal with it because the result is worth it (much like childbirth...lol).

If you DO go and get waxed, it DOES last longer, the re-growth is NOT prickly and itchy (I hated that feeling of the re-growth rubbing on your undies! OUCH!)...and it's generally a whole lot smoother than after waxing.

And if you're really worried about pain - get your underarms done. I swear that is the worst thing I've experienced at a salon!

My DP brought me a Remington Bikini Trimmer for xmas and its GREAT!

I have tried shaving and waxing and got itchy with both (not to mention the pain of waxing) but with the bikini trimmer i dont get itchy at all. I love it.

I think you can pick them up for about $20. :D

Also it comes with different length adjustments so if you just want to tidy up without taking it all off you can. :yelclap:

I'd have to say that I wholeheartedly agree with having a professional do your waxing. I have shaved (too itchy and grows back too quickly), hair removal cream (also doesn't last too long), waxing myself (this is REALLY difficult to see what you're doing and I am a dancer!! LOL) and now have a beautician do a brazilian every 5 weeks. The difference is incredible - it now takes about 15 minutes and the pain gets less and less every time.....

I'm confused on something though - Devon Mouse mentioned French waxing - what is that???

Dancing girl, I was about to ask the same thing...whats a French wax??? I only get brazilians

Beany

A French wax is a basic bikini line wax - the hair is removed from the top and sides but you will retain some foliage down there.

A Brazillian is a complete wax - no hair left whatsoever.

I'm thinking of getting "done" after bubs as a treat for my dear hubby!

I tried shaving 2 times and it kills me! The itching is so bad I almost go insane!

Ive used Nair too, and that made me itching as well...I think they mean it when they say "not for personal use"!

As for waxing myself....I'm thinking OUCH! I can wax my eye brows, ect...but no where else. Had a go at my legs once, and have shaved them ever since!

Got my underarms done a couple of weeks ago! They are brilliant! I was so embarrased at going (cause I'm pretty hairy) but the lady was brilliant. It didnt hurt any more than my lip does, and its still nice and clean! I'll never shave again!
