My sister recently got engaged and they got so much stuff from the family that i just said to them that I would get them something when they move into their own house, so if they dont have something I will buy it for them. Would this be appropriate for you to do?

something recently I bought for some friends who I wasn't really sure what they already had was a big white platter and some black & white print napkins

just trying to remember what we were given-
platters, photo frames, placemats

How a bout a pair of candle stick holders? I was given a beautiful tall pair in quality pewter. I love using them whenever we make an effort and cook a gourmet meal together.

I love giving cookbooks as gifts, or a book of cocktail recipes if they're not into cooking. Also love to recieve them!

Best thing we were given was a insulated wine bag. For when you go for dinner and need to bring a drink with you- much nicer than a paper bag . Even now we use it for carrying soft drinks and milk bottles when we go visiting friends :)

We often buy a good knife or 2. Both being chefs we hate going to peoples (our parents) places and seeing cr@ppy blunt knives, so knives and even a sharpener

I'm a very practical present person

A digital photo frame - these have really come down in price and make a lovely gift.

Well because we didnt live together before we got married, we got so much like kitchen stuff. And some things like photo frames and stuff. But my Grandma bought us this really nice Krosno vase. And I think as a wedding present we were bought a sheet set. If your money conscious Im sure places like Dimmey's etc have some nice cheapish sets.
