Hi everyone,
I'm new to this forum. Just found out today that I'm pregnant with my first baby and hubby and I are over the moon! I'm only about 3 weeks in, so very early on. Am having dull aches/cramps around my uterus for past few days like light period pain. No sign of blood. Did anyone else experience this in the early stages??? I've read that you can get that sensation from about 12 weeks due to stretching of the uterus but I wouldn't have thought mine would need to stretch much at 3 weeks! Am a bit worried.
Thanks!

Hi hon- CONGRATULATIONS- your uterus starts streching from the word go, so streching pains start very early on. A little bit of cramping is normal. If you get worried see your doctor, but most of us will tell you that they have had it.

Best of luck , hope you have wonderful 9 months.

I had cramping really early too. I actually went to emergency at 6 weeks because I was worried. They did a scan and baby was fine. I was told it probably just normal 'growing pains'. They also weren't too concerned because I didn't have any bleeding.

Yay... I'm glad someone else has the same thing happening. I just found out I'm PG yesty & was having light cramps yesty & got them this morning. Weird that we've got growing pains just in the first few weeks :)
Thanks for answering my question!

It took me ages to click I was actually pregnant because I was getting achey like my period was imminent (esp at night) and I was constantly surprised when it didn't show up.

I had bad cramping on one side in the early weeks...probably around 5 wks. It lasted about 1 wk I think. We were a bit worried so I had an ultrasound (had to be an internal due to tiny size of baby) done to make sure it wasn't an etopic (sp?) pregnancy.
I got to see a very early picture confirming the pregnancy that still didn't seem "real" that early on, so it was very exciting, and everything was OK:thumbsup:

Hi, congratulations on your pregnancy, isn't it a wonderful feeling when you see that :bfp: sign. I experienced the light cramps that you are feeling at the moment which is what made me think I may be pregnant. My period was due (I am always late) and nothing appeared, after a few days I tested and it was a :bfp:.

I am now 24 weeks and up until a week or so ago I was still experiencing the same cramps. I spoke to a friend of ours who is a nurse and she said, as did the books etc, that it was just the uterus expanding and not too worry too much especially if you are not spotting or anything.

Keep an eye out and just take it easy, if you are still worried speak to your doctor about it. He/she may say to refrain from intercourse at this stage and not to lift anything too heavy etc. I was still working in childcare and just made sure I took it easy. It was nothing to worry about and as I said, I am now 24 weeks and all seems to be going well.

Congratulations once again and rest assured that most of us have felt the same thing. It depends on your body as to how long those cramps will be experienced for. My sister just had twins and her cramps stopped about 12 weeks.

Enjoy!!

Cool! Thanks for that everyone!!! Very relieved to hear that others have experienced the same thing and all was ok. It's really put my mind at ease.
Thanks again!

I had cramping all through the first few weeks and it still does every now and again. I also had spotting, [implantation bleeding] three days after my first :bfp: for three days, just to warn you in case you do to. It's all totally normal, people just don't warn you how uncomfortable pregnancy can be!

Hi everyone, I'm not sure if I'm doing this correctly or not but I've just had my 12 week scan and found out all is ok but I had horrific cramps for the first 7-8 weeks, much worse than anything I've ever felt before. I went to emergency at 5 weeks to rule out ectopic and they couldn't explain it. Usually I have a pretty high pain threshold so that's why I was worried. My GP suggest taking panadene or panadene forte and thought it may be cause from endo scar tissue stretching but said there wasn't anything else I could do. I got sick of it and decided to try a Naturopath and she worked wonders. Within 3 days, I felt almost no more pain. I can't recommend seeing a naturopath more highly!

Thanks for bumping WCM!!

This thread has really eased my mind. I've had cramps and various aches and pains for over a month now. I'm almost 8 weeks, so its nice to know its normal. Didn't have it with my other two.

*MOST* of my friends who have been pregnant (myself included) have had light period type pains right from the time they got their BFP...

Same. Pretty much every single day so far I've had mild cramping at one point or another, and I'm almost 14wks now.
