I had a look on the map, wow you're a fair way out luv. The nearest DCO is at Richmond or Liverpool .. so there wouldn't be a community house anywhere near you I'd say within defence community. I cannont imagine the traffic in the morning for your DH getting to work whether he's on your side of the bridge or the other.

I've known some defence families in the past who have lived at Castle Hill .. but honestly don't know of anyone there at the moment.

I think you'll have to be like me and scout the forums and facebook for folk in your area.
At least you know you've got a bunch of friends online to vent to. In ADP which I think you joined, there's a deployment support forum which will be helpful when the time comes.
If I come across anyone who lives your way I'll try and connect you up. :)

I've had to do my own leg work to find friends too .. ie baby forums and defence msg boards .. I've gone to our first playgroup session at the community house .. so that's a start but it's hard cos DCO don't/won't/can't help.

Hi there kirrabennett.

I have no idea where cherrybrook is - but am happy to meet half way :) I am in Coogee and my husband is in the navy. He is about to go away for 6 weeks, and then will be home just for weekends til the end of July. Gotta love defence life huh? I have a 10 month old who would LOVE to play with your son :)

U meaning May?
Thats ages away lol!!
I just looked at the calendar - i never know what date it is!
I think weekday is best for me!
We could arrange a half way point for u & me, and close to Kirra so she doesnt have to travel far... if she wants to come!

I haven't had my DH be 'deployed' as such but it's a guarantee he'll be injured while away. If it's not ingrown toenail, it's a variant of flu that puts him in hospital for days, and had many internal bits removed.

My good friend in Darwin did have her man injured while away. It made the news last year. One guy came home but he stayed. He's that type of dedicated soldier and even if told to go home, he would have fought it I think. He's still keen on going again. After all, they train for this and it's a big buzz for some.

If you worry about this sort of thing, it'll do your head in and you'll end up miserable so you have to just look at him being 'away with work'.

I agree KJEmum when DH was in E T i tried not to think of it as that just he was out high range...or something...when he came home with photos of the guys on patrol etc i was for some reason shocked to see them with weapons as i had never thought of them like that...and still try not too.

Anyway They train and thats what they love so at the end of the day i accept it, i dont look forward to his next deployment as we have 2 kids now but what ever happens as long as he returns xxx
