I’m just watching cycle 10 of ANTM (Americas next top model) and one of the contestants, Claire, is still BF. I got all teary watching it. I’m not sure how old her daughter is, maybe 1 ish. She has been trying to express on the show (they even showed her expressing ) but her milk is drying up. :(
Still it was good to see them showing that on the show, especially with the BF rates in the US.

This is about her audition.

Next Top Model Drinks Own Breast Milk

One of the contestants on the new series of hit reality show ‘America’s Next Top Model’ has revealed a little too much to host Tyra Banks and the judging panel, after revealing that she is a new mom and is drinking her own breast milk to keep her milk production going.

The startling revelation came during a moment as model Claire made it into the final 14, when Banks asking the model about being a mother.

“I am a mama,” Claire confirmed. “And it’s so hard being apart from her especially as she’s still breast feeding.”

Banks asked, “So you’re, like, Fed-exing your milk?” to which the judging panel got a surprise response as Claire responded, “Well, right now, I’m actually drinking it… it tastes kinda like soy milk.”

In a separate piece to camera Claire revealed, “I’m trying to pump my milk so whenever I get back to my baby she’ll still be able to breastfeed.”

The host and her judges then joked around each drinking from a cup of milk saying, “Thanks Claire. We’re going to need a little more!”

Wow! Good on her!

Must have been so hard to be away from her baby.

"What you eat and drink nutrition-wise doesn't impact your breast milk," said Parrott. "Living on hamburgers and milkshakes won't give you better or worse breast milk, and so there's no advantage for [Claire] to be taking in what she's putting out."

Oh really.

I was watching last seasons America's Next Top Model a few months ago on my computer and all of a sudden the screen changed to show a breastfeeding slogan - I was like wow, cool that's awesome that they are showing breastfeeding albeit a little weird though. Then I realised Isla had hold of the remote control and had pressed a button that displays photo's (the breastfeeding slogan I saw was a saved pic I had) lol:o

Anyway that was kinda off topic - sorry:p

Cool about the girl still breastfeeding, curious to know why she is drinking it, but hey better than throwing it down the drain. I used to wash my hair in it or soak my feet in it when I had excess, can't say I thought about drinking it, each to their own eh ;)

It's cycle 10. The episode showing her pumping just aired this week in the US. I dont' know when it's on pay tv as we don't have foxtel anymore so I just watch it on the net.

I've seen the first few episodes... tehy're not on pay TV yet... but YouTube can be quite helpful...lol.

There's also a chick on there who suffered FGM (female genital mutilation) growing up in Somalia (I think?).

It's such an ISSUES series...lol.

She did say that if she didn't continue with the show, or apply in the first place she wouldn't have been true to herself and she wants to teach her daughter to go for her dreams. Or something along those lines.
