Hi Girls
Just was wondering how normal it is to put on weight thru an IVF cycle, i mean I read all the side effects and that was there but how much is ok? Yesterday at my egg collection I was weighed and within 3 days from the last time I weighed myself I have put on 3.5 kgs. OUCH! Maybe my scales are wrong but I dont understand, I have done everything right within the time I have been on my treatment, eaten properly and drank only water but all this weight? My tummy is still quite bloated, which is to be expected but does it go down between now and an actual baby bump? lol.
How much weight did u girls put on thru your cycles? And is it ok to be excersising thru ur 2WW? What do u girls think? Id like to lose some of this weight before I do have a baby bump if possible :D

Hi Mrshoto,
First time round I put on about 3Kg. Dont stress as is is only fluid. You had a lot of eggs collected so it is normal for you to retain fluid.
Second time I put on about 2kg.
This time round (my dose was reduced significantly) I have only put on less then 1kg so I really think it varies considerably.
Good luck, hang in there and your fluid will shift in a few weeks and you will be off to the loo constantly getting rid of it.

Bec--> i have put on weight... I look like i am pregnant!!!! I am so bloated and sore! But it is all for a good cause!!!!
Just a quick question, cause i am stressing a little bit...... Did you stop the nasal spray before the trigger??? My nurse told me that today is my only drug free day! Am i doing it right, cause i have a heaps of twinges going on down there.....
:hugs: to you sweetie!
When we have these babies together (within 1 day of eachother) we can start walking with our prams and loose our IVF weight!!! :hugs:

 I think it is normal, I usually put on about 2-3 kg with a cycle....In total, I put on about 20kg since I had started fertility treatment, but a lot of that was comfort eating also.....
Luckly I have lost 10kg of it, just need to lose the other 10kg:D

Hi Ains,
you are right about having a drug free day, you take the trigger to mature your eggs that little bit more and then you will ovulate about 36 hours after the injection.
Dont worry it is all timed by the Dr's.
you stop the nasal spray so that you are now allowed to ovulate.
Hope that helps.
P.S. Loved your thread made me laugh Hee hee

HI Bec,
I put on about 3-4 kg during my cycle. I know that it is definitely the IVF meds as I am really strict with my food (food allergies), dont eat anything processed, dont snack in between meals and eat the same amounts every day... I've heard that one of two things will happen at the end of your cycle, you will get your AF and lose the weight, or you will be preggers, and who cares about the weight!!

Hi Bec and girls
I put on weight during my first cycle in March, i didn't weigh myself, but feel like I've gained about 3kg from how my clothes feel. I look pregnant, and feel bloated. I had my first BFN BT on 31st March, and now am straight into cycle 2. I think I've been comfort eating a bit too, so am going to now focus on eating healthy to avoid gaining weight during this cycle. I'm also watching salt intake to stop that bloated feeling a bit.
Re exercise, my clinic told me not to do anything too strenuous during the 2WW. They said not to get your core body temp up, avoid hot baths, spas and saunas for the same reason. Fingers crossed for you for a BFP:fingerscrossed:!!!

im glad i saw this thread, was thinking of asking the same thing as im about to start spraying for the first time..........
i hope it is all fluid, cant be fat right? if you continue to eat and exercise normally.. in which case you can still lose some after ivf or during a pregnancy.
As long as it isn't fat weight!!

I am still in the beginnings of the IVF process but I can tell you I gained 16kg in my first pregancy which I lost within 3-4 months because breastfeeding is hard going on the body, but also really lovely bonding with bub.
Forget about weight issues for now, you need to focus on being healthy exercising for pregnancy (yes its different and essential to know) and enjoy this time.
As far as the niggles your feeling, I knew I was pregnant the next day with my son (natural conception) I felt a tingle in my belly it was so wierd. I didn't do the test for a month after that because I was scared that it was just me wanting it so bad, but he is now 2 1/2, healthy and lots of fun. :babydust2: baby dust to you
