Hi there. My dd is 12 weeks, is forumla feed, is taking 6 bottles of 160mils. The past week she has been getting restless and pushing the bottle out on teh 7pm feed and the best i can do is get 100mils if i am lucky. I went up the next size in teats, burp her regularly, and give her a rest. She has been a spew baby form day one and i have added thicken to her feeds as sugguested by gp and that is working no spew on any feeds only hte 7pm. It takes about 1/2 to get 90 mils in her then spews a bit back. All of her other feeds during the day/night she is perfect drinks the lot. I was thinking that maybe she is telling me she isn't hungry and dosn't need 6 bottles, should i drop a feed or just continual and give a small feed between 7pm and 8pm. She is 4hrly feeds also and 5 hrs over night, so i was thinking maybe she isn't hungry every 4 hrs either. I am very confussed. Your advice would be a great help.

Thanks Melanie :flowerz:

I think try with a smaller feed first near 8pm, but then if she spews it back up perhaps cut back this feed. Will this disrupt her sleep pattern though for another feed later if she misses it? Good luck :)

Ahh you poor thing!

Is she crying for feeds by the time you give them to her or are you just feeding her every 4 hours on the dot? It is ok to let bubs go to 5 hours without a feed during the day. If you are feeding her when she wants it then my guess is just keep doing what you are doing and hopefully it will sort itself out. Otherwise the only other thing I can suggest is wait till she is crying for a feed?

I know its hard bottle feeding coz you know how much your bub is getting and tend to get fixated on it - worrying if they don't drink enough or have they had too much. A friend who was bf mentioned to me "I never know how much my baby is getting each feed, but as long as he is content and sleeping well then I presume he is getting enough". So I used this as my guide to bottle feeding too!

Is there any chance she may be teething??? I know this stuffs up their feeds quite a lot. My DS1 cut his first tooth about 3.5 months.

Sorry not much of a help. Good luck and let me know how you do :fingerscrossed:.

boymommy- DD is crying for feeds every 4 hrs so of course I feed her. The 7pm feed she is usually tried and I give her a bath get her ready for bed, then feed her. The last few nights I have left it till at least 7.15pm by the time I am organised and it is warm, she is crying for it then won't take much of it. The maternal health nurse told me I can't let her go any longer then 4 hrs during the day, though her morning feed should be 8.30am as she goes 5 hrs overnight but gets it when she wakes up between 9.00am and 9.30am. I completely understand how you tend to get fixated on it had the same convo with sister who b/f her two.

Lisa - I might try giving her smaller feed at 8pm, I don't think it will disrupt her sleep, will try it tonight and see how we go.

:iagree: maybe she doesnt need as much this feed. If shes doing well other feeds and shes thriving etc, she may be content with a smaller feed. I guess her holding half a bottle down is better than having a full bottle which she spews back up if you know what i mean.

Good luck :) have you tried maybe upping her feeds that she takes during the day when she is happy taking a full bottle?
