I tried to search the threads for something on this but to no alas!

As the title states, before AF arrived when you fell pregnant, did you feel like you were getting AF and think you were not pregnant? Can early pregnancy feel like period symptoms???

Hi there. Really the only clue I had that I was pg was terrible pain in my tummy. I thought it was appendicitis and was really close to going to hospital.

I'm interested in what other people say. Was only talking to someone today about whether they had AF symptoms before.

And yes I think early pregnancy can feel like AF for many people. Many of the symptoms are very similar.

certainly did for me. But my AF symptoms are like my pregnancy symptoms - not very significant! Mild back ache and a feeling it was coming

I am glad someone asked this question as I was wondering the same thing. I am on cd36 and still no af. I keep getting cramps and it feels like I will be getting af soon but it still hasn't come. I did a hpt on saturday and it was negative. How soon would you guys recommend I do anothe hpt if I still don't have af? I don't want to take a hpt unnecesasarily as they aren't cheap!

What day do u usually get your AF??
Most ppl & docs will say to wait a week after your period was meant to be due, to test.
:fingerscrossed: for you

Hi Purplebutterfly..... This is the thing, I came off the pill over a month ago, had my af 3 days after, and that was 36 days ago.... still no af. From what I can remember I was very regular with my periods before I started the pill, 29 days...:confused:

Yes - with my DD I did think I had AF coming on. my boobs were KILLING me, my lower bad hurt, tummy pains. But then I too ended up getting really severe pain in my stomach and rushed off to the docs....only to find I was 4 weeks UTD!

Ahh ok readytotry. could be the fact that your body is still adjusting to having no Pill in your body. My body took 3 cycles til it was back to 29/30 day cycle, like I was before the Pill. As much as it is hard to do, I would wait til another week & do a test.
Fingers crossed you are preg!!

Thanks purple... .That is what is annoying, i have to wait till i get a 'real' af before I can even try charting & learning more about my body's cycle... :fingerscrossed: for you and hope you get :bfp: soon:D

Yep  I've just got my :bfp:& I was sure everytime I went to the toilet that AF would have arrived, I've been wearing pads in preparation, now know I don't need to & wont for some time:smiliedance:

I am only 2 days late for AF but always very regular, my only symptoms are really full breasts, tummy twinges & really, really tired & emotional.

Hope you get the result you want

Ciao,
Brooke.

I thought for sure AF was coming.

Only two differences- when I did the shopping, something- don't know what- made my buy HPT's instead of tampons (although I musn't have had that much faith, I bought a box of three- I only needed one!)

My knees usually ache when AF comes, and that ache was notably missing.

But I had the usual cramping, pimples, tiredness etc...

I got lots of pimples more so than is normal usually my skin has a slight break out in my T zone or jaw line but this time I got heaps of little break outs

Must be really frustrating not knowing when your cycle will return to normal, really means you can't chart & know when the best time to BD is, really, really sucks

Sorry but this is a little bit off topic  mum2moo was that pain like a twinging sensation almost like a non stop ovulating pain?

Yep, its the only thing that made me think to test...I wasnt charting and we werent ttc, so I didnt know when to expect af. I had cramps (af-type) for three days and when I still hadnt started, I decided to take a hpt and BFP. I only used to cramp the day I started af, so having the cramps for several days without actual af was a bit tip-off for me...

I don't know if it was O pain cos i never really paid that much attention to my cycle. It was pain so bad that i couldn't do anything. Like a constant really bad cramp (over where my ovaries would be). I swallowed packets of nurofen plus over a couple of days just to try and dull it! Was so concerned about bub because of taking the tabs! They said it could have been cos of my endo. Not sure though.

This is what's happening to me at the moment. I'm breaking out like a teenager, more so than usual.

I thought it was appendicitis and was really close to going to hospital.

I have that feeling!

Although I used to get it almost every 6 months for about a year or 2. They thought it was apendacitis, but I think it was a bowel problem :o
Whatever it was...it KILLED!

Now I'm getting the same feeling. Well I only got it once last night. I took some buscopan (sp) and senakot just incase.

I am only 9DPO. It would be way too early for it to be a symptom of mine right?

Hi guys I am new here, been lurking on and off for a few weeks but thought I would join up.

I was wondering exactly this for the last week.

Was feeling like I was getting AF - was so sure that I kept trotting off to the ladies at work - still doing it now and I was due to get it on Sunday last week.

Should I do a test? Went food shopping last night but chickened out of buying a tester as I feel like I might buy it then get AF (does that make any sense:)).

I have only been TTC for two months and last month only got a two day AF that arrived 4 days early.

Yes I did! Both times I was fortunate enough to fall pregnant I just knew I was iykwim.... especially the last pregnancy... It took me just under 3 weeks to get my BFP... but I knew I was UTD.

Both times I felt like I was getting AF.... and also everytime AF was due for those 9-10 months as well... I would also feel like I was getting AF... the cramps, the sickness, the cravings... it was really weird!

alot of people have said to me that they thought they were getting AF then it never came and they were PG, I think alot of the symptoms are the same.
I dont think id be able to tell if I were PG because I get sore boobs, cramps, back ache etc for a whole week before AF.

Hi there,

I seem to be in the same position as yourself....My last AF was on the 01.04.08, and have come off the pill on the same day.

It is now the 05.05.08 and still no AF,:hair: this is day 35, whereas im normally 29-30 day?....

I havent ever had delays or any problems with my AF's. I did a pregnancy test on sunday morning (yesterday) and :bfn:.....

I also used the PGT which is known to pick up very low levels of HG and detects up to 5 days prior to AF date???...

Can someone please shine a light on me, and tell me what you think?....

Is it just my periods trying to get back to norm without the pill, or is it too early to dedect early pregnancy?....

I dont know what to think?...

Thanks

Hi I thought AF was coming too!

11dpo-13dpo: Felt like AF cramps in lower stomach
13dpo - 16dpo: Brown tinged mucus when I wiped
19-20 dpo: Lower back pain, Boobs have increased in size. Sometimes I feel a little yucky in the tummy (m/s??)

I got my BFP 15dpo BUT the hormone level was a little low, confirming pregnancy tomorrow at Monash IVF!!! Can't wait.

:yes:Yep....definately this time around. I was a right b!tch for a few days, had that dull feeling in the pit of my stomach and had a bit of a breakout.....all my usual af signs. Then they all stopped and no af...so I tested!
With my other two no, but then I never really got any symptoms except for cramping once af arrived anyway.

I did an early test with DD - 3 days before AF was due. When AF was due I really felt like I was getting it for at least a week. Lots of trips to the loo to check. With my first m/c I wasn't trying and was so sure it was coming that I didn't even think of testing until I was nearly a week late:doh: even though I had this weird tingle in my boobs and they were definatly bigger - didn't get that with DD, guess they're all different.
