Hi guys! I was wondering if any of you have used these and how acurate they are?

I got the *response* 5 day tester kit and have started testing....I'm more than 10 days into my cycle though, but I dont think I have ovulated yet.......I havent had any pains....

I first tested on Tueday and had the tiniest mark on the test line...then again yesterday the test line was slightly darker...does that mean my body is gearing up for ovulation if it is darker agian today? Or have I proably already ovulated and am wasting my tests?

Thanks for you help!

In short, Yes. You're about to ovulate.

I always checked cervical mucus as well. If it's like egg-white and stretches for the full length between your thumb and forefinger that's also a pretty good sign that you're ovulating. Good luck!

Thanks Ruth! :-)

Its funny, I'm glad that Ive got this test, because on average my cycles are about 28-30 days....but if I havent ovulated yet...it means that I obviously ovulate late in my cycle sooner than early...because I'm on day 18 of my current now. Test again today...hopefully the little test line will be as dark as the control line and we are cooking with gas!!!

I guess maybe that could have contributed to a no pregnancy last month....we started resting after what I thought was my *due* week, in likely hood I was a week off!!!

Hi Kathleen,
I used the "Clearplan" ovulation testing kits and got a definite blue line that matched the test line on the days I ovulated (got pregnant twice using these kits - unfortunately miscarried the first pregnancy but am still pregnant at 17 weeks now). I think the lines did get increasingly darker as I got closer to ovulating but it was very clear when I did ovulate - very distinctive line. My advice is to keep using them until you see the line - I had to use up to 3 packs of 5 tests to get the line sometimes because my cycles were all over the place - I ovulated anywhere between day 17 and day 29 - very frustrating!! I would start using them on day 14 and then use them every day until I saw the line - sometimes felt like it would never appear.
Good luck and I hope you're seeing a positive line on a pregnancy test soon.

Hey girls!

If I have ovulated...would I still be seeing a low test line as well as the control line?

Yesterday when i tested the test line was very light...the first day I tested (Tuesday) it was very light, then Wednesday it was light, then thursday (yesterday) it was very light....the tester info says that its only *positive* when the lines are the same colour....or the test line is brighter than the control line...

LOL have I confused everyone? :) I'm confused!!!

Thanks so much for your help! I've got 2 more tests to do, so I'll keep trying for another 2 days.

The vaginal mucus test....well I was only egg whiteish and stretching a couple of days after my period...but surely I wasnt ovulating then?! My hubbby and I have been using a combo of the rythmn method and condoms for the last year, if I ovulated that early, surely i would have been preggers by now!?

Hi Kathleen,

If you'd like to try another ovulation test, get "Maybe Baby". You only have to buy it once because it is a little microscope that you use to see if your saliva has a fern pattern in it, which happens when you ovulate - the microscope is about the size of your index finger. Mine cost me $60 last year. It is very good - I got mine at a chemist.

Best of luck :)

Thanks BJ

Is it small enough to carry around in your bag? :-) Thats the other hard thing I find...its hard for me to take the test at the same time every day!

the Responce one I got was $20 with a free preg test, but some of them were $80 or more! OUCH!!!!!

Hi Kathleen,
what day are you up to in your cycle? If you have started too late and missed the dark line I think you do still get the light line. The ones I used definitely had a dark, dark line when I ovulated - it was really obvious and quite exciting when it appeared (sad I know to be excited by a line -was very helpful though). I hope you get to see it in the next 2 days.

With taking the test can you take it each morning when you first get up (or do you do shift work or something?) That's when I always tested because the concentration of hormones is highest in the urine then.

I used the Maybe Baby test as well and some people find it works but it never worked for me for some reason - don't know why.

Good luck.

Hi Cath,

Ive noticed my mucus *I know this is a gross subject* changing a little today....more like an egg white, and slightly cloudy...(YUCK  )

I was at day 16 when I started testing....however this cycle I waited until day 13 before we had intercourse..... But I dont know what is going on....I didnt FEEL like I had ovulated before that?!

If it doesnt work this month I'll just keep trying! Practice makes perfect! Right?? :D

I used OPK to get pg and it worked perfectly. i have around 28 day cycle and ovulated about day 14 each cycle..........anyway - from memory - you are supposed to use first urine of the day & around same time every day - this is really important. Then you will ONLY get the 2nd line on the day that you test when you are about to ovulate "within the next 24 hrs".....you shouldn't get the 2nd line more then once - only when the hormone suddenly peaks as the egg is released...iykwim?

I used them from about day 12 onwards.............my doctor also got me to go for blood tests daily from day 12 and I can report that the blood tests matched the OPK perfectly!
I didn't do the mucus thing - I'm afraid fishing around down there for mucus and then rubbing it around my fingers is just WAY too "out there" for me :D :o

As for the eternal question......."when do I ovulate?" - well - even if your cycles are regular - it can be a bit hit-n-miss for some...........I know a woman who used to have perfect 30 day cycles (which means she should have been ovulating about day 16...) but when she couldn't fall pg & they did lots of bloods, they found she was O about Day 24 & hence, there was never time for any fertilized egg to implant before AF arrived :( She had to use Clomiphene (Clomid, Serophene) to force O earlier in the cycle.................she has 3 kids now! So if you think you are ovulating about day 5 or something - it is not UNLIKELY that this could be happening & the only way to know is bloodtests to work it out I guess.

Good luck,
t

Hi again,
if it doesn't happen this month maybe try starting the tests about day 10 or something next month if your cycles are 28-30 days to make sure you catch it. Even if you can't be bothered using the tests for a long period of time start having sex every second day from about day 10 or so and maybe you will be lucky. Practice definitely makes perfect although it does become a bit bizarre having sex to a timetable - all a means to an end though and can't complain about it really.

I never did the mucus thing (never really had any - maybe from being on the pill for 10 years or something -who knows - more information than you need probably).

Fingers crossed for a dark line in the next couple of days.

Well the little lines showed up on Saturday morning...I was so shocked I made dear hubby go up to the shops and buy me another test to confirm! LOL I ovulate way later than I though! I should have ovulated around day 14 i though...that would have been on the 15th...instead I ovulated Saturday or Sunday....22 or 23 May! About a week out!

Fingers crossed....hopefully I will KNOW in a week or 10 days!

Hi Kathleen,

Hopefully you won't need to do any more testing!

But just in case you do, the Maybe Baby would easily fit into your bag - it's only about 5cm long and 1cm wide. It takes about 10 mins to do the test - you put some saliva on the lense and let it dry for 10 mins and then check out the pattern. If there is a fern like pattern, then you are ovulating.

Hi Kathleen,
I've got my fingers crossed for you. It's exciting seeing that line isn't it? It really does stand out. It's weird how the human body works - it is such a mystery sometimes. I ovulated on day 22 with my current pregnancy and saw the blue line and we tried that day (and had luckily tried the night before) and a few weeks later got a positive pregnancy test. It is all very exciting. It is all a bit clinical having sex according to a line appearing but who cares - it worked for us and now we are expecting the baby we've wanted for ages. Good luck (and if it doesn't happen this month at least you've got a feeling how your body works now so it will happen in the next couple of months -it took us a couple of months but ultimately worked). Let us know how you go.

Cath,

I know what you mean about sex feeling a bit clinical to a time table! LOL Sometimes you are just NOT IN THE MOOD, but you are thinking..."OH DEAR, IF WE WANT A BABY WE HAVE TO DO IT NOW!"....

I remember the very first time we tried for a baby.....after it was over I just lay there thinking...."oh my god...that felt like a pap smear".....LOL..when I gave this analogy to my poor hubby...he got this look off wounded pride.....

Thanks all for your help! Its been wonderful...now keeping fingers crossed for another set of pink lines in a few days time!
