Well it is my turn for NT scan tomorrow. So excited to see baby, but I too am very aprehensive about not seeing a heartbeat or baby having issues. Bub hub is a fabulous medium but gee it can scare the hell out of you as their are so many sad stories you hear along the way. I saw Brothers and Sisters last nite and one sister had a missed miscarrage...no heartbeat. Keep thinking if these things Im seeing and hearing so often are tryin to send me little messages about my babe but I need to stay positive like all of you gals on here!
Wish me luck for tomorrow lunch time

Morning ladies and men, I'm not feeling better either :p.
Good luck with your scan today Electric Mumi I'm sure everything will be ok. Mine is at 2pm today. Dreading drinking the water its too much and so uncomfortable I will worry about that instead of the scan. Can't wait to see the bubs.
The 9 week aging scan we went too liam came in with us and when the man scanning us said there is the little peanut Liam started saying bub bub bub bub. All coincidental but very cute.
Ok much to do house inspection coming up.....

Good luck to you Electric Mumi on your scan today. I'm sure everything will be fine. I was really stressed before mine too and then when i got there I had to come back the next day cause they messed up my appointments.
I wonder how trish24 went on monday. I'm sure she had her NT scan then. Hope everything is alright.
I had such a bad night last night. didnt sleep well at all and having Yacine wake a couple of times through the night didnt help either. (so now i've got a splitting headache) She's normally such a good sleeper. I think she might have been hungry though. She's been a bit off her food lately. Getting a little picky. I've run out of ideas what to give her. Mums, any tips??

Tina - how about making some mini savory muffins, or tiny pasta (like Risoni) with pureed vegetables and a few drops of olive oil. Another thing Allegra are when she was about 9 months was risotto with pureed vege and minced chicken which I cooked with creamed corn. At that age, Allegra loved holding her food... is she getting teeth? That always put Allegra off her food.

Thanks for the tips PrincessT, She has 8 teeth now 4 ontop and 4 on the bottom. I dont think she should be getting anymore at the moment.
I think i might try the chicken mince cooked with creamed corn and vegetables, that sounds really good and i can probably precook and freeze that. Yacine likes to hold her own food too which makes it hard at the moment. might try roasting some sweet potatoe and pumkin wedges for her to hold and they are soft enough too.

Good luck to all those ladies that have their scans this week. Looking forward to reading all the good news stories. I'm sure all will be fine :fingerscrossed:
Hoping all those that still have :barf: start to feel better really soon... My nausea has eased a bit, but can't say the same for the headaches, reflux and tiredness!

I agree, bigger but no better, although I am in a better mood and am starting to feel more like a part of the human race again...
Good luck Electric!
Welcome Intoxicated!
Yacine's Mummy - I know they're not homemade, but the little kids muslei bars from the babyfood section at the groceries always went down well when my kids wouldn't have anything else! And I can completely agree with the savoury muffin idea, tiny pizzas are also a favourite!
And, yet another comment today on the bus from a friend of a friend who said 'I guess you are going to be on edge the whole time with all the things that can go wrong with twins', I just said "i'm too busy being really excited to put any energy into thinking about what might go wrong, but it seems that heaps of other people are doing that for me!" What is wrong with people?????

Welcome intoxicated!!!
Louousmum - I find people very negative sometimes and not only with pregnancy but generally with everything. When I told people I was pregnant and only 8 weeks, they all freaked because "anything might happen" they said. I told them that if something was to happen and fate had decreed it, then I would prefer my friend were there to support me in my time of need.
Since my dad died, I have had an enormous faith in the work of God (or any higher being really). I'm not a mad religious zealot but I firmly believe in fate. If you are destined to have and hold both these babies (and I think you are) then hold onto your good feelings and ignore those who think negitively.
Here's a lovely story for you all. Last week, I was talking with a group of cousins all of whom have a few kids. They asked if I was going to stop at two or would I consider more. I explained that DH and I feel at this stage that we could offer a better quality of childhood (by that I mean holidays, schooling etc) to 2 children and not more. My mother in law piped in at this stage and told me that perhaps my doctor should tie my tubes when I have my caesarian. I couldnt believe she would even think of such a thing - is that strange or what?? ahhhhhhhh
PinkLily
01-04-2008, 12:20 PM
I agree PrincessT. If something bad was to happen to bub then I'd want support from my closest friends and family, as I'd be telling them if something bad happened anyway. Waited til about 12 weeks to let the good news out to those friends that we don't see as often. Was just easier letting them all know all together, and rather than finding out on the grapevine!
That is a strange thing for your MIL to say! It is a very sensitive and personal decision for anyone to make... I guess back in their days there wasn't as many other options as there are nowadays?..
We kind of feel that way about only having two, but if our situation changes then I def could have a third - and I'd love a daughter ;) So I would want to still have the choice down the track...
A few of our friends have decided to stop having children, but opted for the dad to have the snip (sorry if tmi!) as it's alot less invasive and good chance of reversal if they change their minds.

Hi all:wave:
Went to OB today and everything looks good with babies. Two nice heartbeats and all looking good!! Measuring about 4.14cm and 3.88cm. I don't know what it is with me these days but i read far too much into every word, expression that OB says and does- even though he says babies look fantastic! For example: Today he was doing the ultrasound and he was moving the thing around and looking looking and i'm like what is it what is it and he says nothing and then goes what medication are you on at the moment?? I said nothing just vitamins and he said which ones and i say Blackmores and he says ok then says babies look great you can sit up now. So i get home and start thinking why did he ask me about medication did something look strange about the babies or was it a coincidence he asked or maybe he was busy and had me confused with someone else and thought i had been taking fertility medication or something. I am doing my head in. I find that from one appointment to the next i'm freaking out!! As i walked out the door i asked him 3 times so everythings fine nothing to worry about?? He said everythings great don't stress. SO WHY DO I STRESS!!!!! HELP ME I have never been so bloody anxious!!!!!

Well, what a strange day Ive had.
First Dh and I went to the fruit and veg shop with DD2 after dropping DD1 off at school.
We got back in our car with our boot full of super cheap fruit and veg () and my mobile rang..... it was the hospital where I have my NT scan booked. They said they had to cancel my app for tomorrow morning and could I go in today! At 12pm!!! Sow e did. DH was able to swap his RDO for today so that was fabulous! So we had the scan, all looks good. I got a low risk ratio. Bubby looks great! Was bouncing about like a jelly bean! Measuring 5.7mm CtoR, making me 2 days further than before, but I'm still keeping the original EDD. Heart beat was 164bpm, two hands, two feet, one head... all looks good.
The dr's and the Middy that were in the room were all really nice, joking around and making me laugh, which resulted in poor jelly bean being thrust from one end of the uterus to the other! lol. It was quite funny.
What a relief! I was so worried that baby was gone, but as soon as Dr put the thingy on my tummy I saw her, and then the heart beat! BIG SIGH!
Now, I have an OB app and booking in at the hospital to look forward to next week.
Electric Mum, hope your scan goes as good as mine.
Hugs to everyone!!!!:hugs::hugs::hugs::hugs:

I am thinking about final making an appointment to see a GP at the end of this week (I will be10 weeks) and getting a referral to the Birth Centre...I fugire I might as well wait until I am 10 weeks so they have a prety good chance of hearing the heartbeat! Makes me nervous but I am sure it will al be OK:)

Hi guys!!
Ahhh what a relief their is still a heartbeat! yep had my scan today and it was the best day ever!! The active little munchkin was all over the place kicking and rolling over and head diving to get away from the probe thingy!! Was a crack up. I was sent away for lunch so I could shake it up a bit coz they couldnt get great measurements!! haha So I went back and baby was a bit better behaved except decided to curl up at crucial moments! hehehe cheeky and norty already! Ratios were rediculously low like 1 : 24, 343
Crown to rump is 79.3 which makes baby due 2nd oct rather than 5th Oct...but who knows! Next scan could be totally diff again so lets leave it as the 5th!
LUNAR Great news about ur surprise scan today!!! Great to have it done hey!! yay Im a happy girl now :yelclap:

Hey guys just a quick note as i'm sure your wondering. Bub's is great all well nothing out of the ordinary spotted very thin line of fluid behind the neck. Took forever as the bubs was sitting on its bum with with its back and neck up against the wall so he had to prod bubs a few times to get it to move when he did he couldn't get the exact measurement twice for awhile always coming up with different results. He said he couldn't see anything wrong. Very sweet time. Liam came with us and did a huge poo while in there that was an added extra . Only bad thing was he was using the probe right on my c section scar as it was pretty hard to get a clear picture and it was hurting. Guessing it will get worse when i get bigger.
Have a great one going to crash MS is bad again today.

I had my 12 week U/S on Monday..I was booked in for a CVS but they did the scan first..they checked the nuchal fold and told me that my DS risk had gone from 1 in 200 (cos of my age) to 1 in 1200 which is not that bad but not that great either ..but had the blood test instead and opted out of the CVS..so will wait to get a better result when the blood test and scan are combined to find out my actual DS risk..heres hoping that it is better...if not, will be having an amnio at 16-17 weeks..
Apart from all that the baby was kicking and rolling around:yelclap:..had a 3d image done..looks pretty wierd!! And my dates are pretty spot on so that's good as well:thumbsup:...

Hi Ladies,
Good Morning lovely ladies and Craig
Glad to hear for those who have had their Nuchal Scans all is good, it is truly wonderful to see the little bub dancing around isn't it.
I hope everyone is feeling better - I know I am but I was lucky enough to escape MS but hated the extreme tiredness which I am pleased to say is getting better but I have cold now again but it's only a cold.
I'm trying to put it out of my mind but is anyone worried about coping with 2 - I'll have a 23 month old toddler and a new baby in Oct and some days I think how will I cope - don't get me wrong I am so excited just a little nervous, all my family and my hubby's are in the UK so we don't have the luxury of family help, but I have promised myself I am not going to worry about it well I'm going to try to not worry about it
Just wondered if anyone else having #2 feels the same?
Well must go off to the Magic Yellow Bus this morning it's a wonderful day in Sydney so going to make the most of it.
Take Care

I agree, no point keeping it to ourselves
what happened last time tho' was that we told our pastor that i was preg but may be having some problems as i'd been bleeding for 3 weeks. and the nxt day he announced it at church (u'd think he'd keep it quiet for a while since we told him there may be some complications!!). anyway, within a few days we found out we had a missed miscarriage. but we still had people congratulating us (even after my D&C), can't blame them really since they didn't know (i make it a point to always keep up with church gossip from now on:laughing: ). but when we told them what happened it became so awkward, they felt guilty and all that.
Actually just 2 wk ago, there was this lady who asked me how many weeks i am coz i'm still not showing. and i was thinking how did she know about this preg, i haven't told that many people. so i told her 10 wks and she looked confused. and then it hit me, she was really referring to my last preg (coz that was only around november)
that's y we sorta think maybe we'll wait this time. but as i couldnt hold it much longer, i secretly made it a policy i'm gonna tell one friend for every week of my preg up to 12 wks (tho i can tell u i've told more than 12 people now) :D
anyway, it'll be a better one this time around, so it shouldnt matter how many people have known :sunshine:

Hi everyone, it's great to hear everyone's scans are going so well!
84zsazsa- wow, can't believe you are so organised!
Between now and when the baby comes I have to move in with my family while our house gets completely made over. It's a 1960's fibro cottage that hasn't had any major work done since it was built!
Aside from that, I'm so paranoid that as soon as I buy anything for the baby, I'll have another m/c. I'm starting to get too big for my pants, and I don't want to buy maternity clothes for the same reason.
It's strange, I feel bigger now at 9.5 weeks than what I did at 17 weeks when I m/c'd last time!

Snap I'm the same. I've got as far as cleaning our half of the spare room. You can now see the floor and the top of the desk is clean. LOL. Like you we are in the middle of a big reno so :fingerscrossed: it will all be done by Oct
We haven't told too many people, apart from the grandparents-to-be. Our supervisors at work - 'cause we needed time off to go to appointments etc. - and a few good friends. I have bought absolutely nothing for this baby - terrified I'll jinx things or something LOL. We get our results from the NT on Monday, so if all goes well we'll tell whoever cares to listen on Tuesday. I'll be 14.5 weeks by then, so well past the first trimester mark :).

I just saw my GP, for the first time, as the midwives can't do a referral for the 12 weeks scan. When I told him I was pregnant he looked at me and said, 'about 28 or 30 weeks?'!!! I feel so fat! I haven't put on any weight. I'm 57kg, but the pot belly looks huge on my little frame. I'm going to be the size of a house. I'm going to need a crane.

Hi,
I've just been thinking as most of us are now out or nearly out of our first trimester that we are now getting closer to being half way through our pregnancy how cool is that - I'm nearly 14 weeks so in 6 weeks time I hit the big 20 weeks whaoooo........

I feel like I still have so far to go. I'm not even 10 weeks yet, and for me, with a suspected incompetent cervix, it's after the first trimester I have to start to worry.
I've given up work, which is also where DF works, as I felt this was a contributing factor to my previous m/c, but I'm still studying, though I've dropped down to part time as I didn't feel comfortable doing 2 days a week of work placement in a childcare centre.
I'm still having terrible m/s, which makes life hard, but apart from that everything seems to be going fine.

I've been MIA for a day or so with severe vomiting and stomach cramps etc. I told the Dr it was a virus and he said, no, just morning sickness with twins and gave me rest of the week off. I feel heaps better today though, but haven't told anyone at work that!
I must be a bit hormonal and emotional too, watched the Biggest Loser makeover show on video yesterday and cried my eyes out.
Single Pregnant Chick - I thought I had a big pregnant tummy but after two days of vomiting and not eating, I am looking surprisingly slimmer, that's a bit depressing. I am very jealous that while you look big, you haven't put on any weight!!!
Twiglet, only four days to go - in fact, this time in four days my scan will be almost over!
Alby - I'm the same, I obsess over the tiniest things. I've had my Dr for two previous pregnancies and he is fantastic. If I'm worried about something he said at the last appointment, I ring and leave a detailed message for him and he always gets back to me. It's such an uncertain science, I'm sure sometimes they seem a bit vague or preoccupied, but I actually think I'd rather have a laid back OB than a control freak one!! Trust that they know everything about your case and are sharing with you everything you need to know...they have to, just think about the responsibiity of their position and the insurance they pay etc.!!!
Glad to hear scans are going well. I can't wait! As each day passes I am getting more and more certain that everything is fine for me and my little ones...:D

Hi everyone. Really wondering how you can get so many due dates. I had a couple with my other two, but this one keeps changing. I am going to stick by my lmp and I was 99% sure when i ovulated. Most recent date is the 26th Sept. Doesn't make any sense at all. Could be a big baby. I understand babies have growth spurts so maybe mine just had one. Going by the last date I'm 15 weeks tomorrow. I am feeling lots. Probably because It's my third. Have the start of a cold and the moment. Can't stop sneezing. They're so strong I'm worried something will come out. Going to a wedding next weekend so had to go buy a new dress. Got one on sale which was great. Nice maternity clothes a bit expensive. Best friend coming to visit for the wedding. She's about 9 weeks pregnant. Will be great to be around someone feeling as crappy as me. Husband managed to get another week or two's work. Hopefully something else will show up, so he doesn't have to eventually work away. Anyway, I'm starving just for a change. Have to eat now!

Hi Everyone,
Sorry I havent posted for the last few weeks - I've just been feeling soooo tired & sick at times. I've read the posts from time to time but then found myself too tired or having to run after Lily by the time I'd finished & havent posted back.
Will be 12wks this weekend. My NT scan is booked for Fri week. I'm already feeling very nervous about it, especially after my missed mc late last year. We've hardly told anyone we're pregnant yet - luckily most of our relatives are in the UK or interstate, so havent seen my bump!!
Electric Mumi - I'm not sure about flu shots when you're pregnant. You could always ring a GP & the receiptionist should know.
Hope everyone is having a good day. Lily's asleep so time for a rest for me too.
Bye for now

Does anyone know if pregnant women can get the flu immunisation?
I asked my Midwife this when I went to my 1st OB appointment. Work gives them out for free and I normally get one. She said that is be purely up to me and there were no findings to say that it was harmfull. The virus they inject is a dead one.
I opted not to this time round

Glad to hear every ones scans have been going well. I hope thoes who are still feeling yuk will start to feel better soon.
Well yesterday I had my book in with the Mater, to make a long story short I missed the train and had to drive then I got lost and arrived for my appointment on time (I was suppose to be 15 minutes early). Got to see a midwife and then the ob before giving blood and a sample. I got an information pack and my orange book but not bounty bag, think I'll complaine next time if I don't get one. Midwife tried to hear the babies heart beat but because I'm only 13 weeks we couldn't find it with the doppler, not strong enough. She said even 14-16 weeks they can struggle to pick it up. I then booked my next appointment and said the Ob/Registra wants me to see a dr the week after my 19 week scan which I also booked yesterday because I'm having it done by the Maternal Fetal Unit and they have a specialist so they can keep check on the heart. So that is booked for the 19th May and then this morning I found out I have been booked in to see the registra again on the 20th August. So I'm going to fix that up when I get down there next. I did tell her I am having my 19 week scan in 7 weeks and that the ob/registra wants me to see an ob the week after.
Tina - Thanks for the lunch date hope that you didn;t get into too much strife.
Teena - Hope you are feeling better now
Luna - Glad to hear your scan went well.
Electric mum - Glad to hear about yours to.
hmmm..going to go and lye down now feeling very worn out a lot of driving this week and I've got to go and pick up sarah yet.
Talk again soon, keep well

I wish this nausea & constant hunger will go away. I also have zero energy. I just want this 1st trimester to be over. I'm 10 weeks 4 days so not long to go now.
I was actually up this morning at about 1am eating a sandwich, I feel like a pig. lol

Electric Mum - Yes, you can get the flu needle, we are getting them at work and I've checked it out too. I am getting it done, they say it is important for women who will be in their 2 or 3 trimesters during winter to have it. Of course it's up to you though. All I can think is how I would cope with two (or four) kids should I get the flu this flu season (which in Brisbane they say lasts until end of September because of the RNA show in August!!
Twiglet - I've put in for pre-natal leave for the morning but have booked no appointments or meetings for the afternoon, just in case, like you are thinking something isn't quite right. But - like you, I've pretty much decided that even if it is all great, I might just take the afternoon off and go baby shopping (I haven't bought anything yet except maternity clothes!!):yelclap:
Farmmum - I had a similar experience to you the other day. I had a GP appointment and looked up on the web when a doppler can hear the heartbeat and it said between 10-14 weeks. I asked him to listen and he said there would be no point as his doesn't work until at least 14 weeks. I'm pretty sure my OB has a more powerful one than that, but by my first visit to him, I will have had my scan, so it won't be such a big deal!
Re: Due dates - at my first scan, the due date was worked out as an average between the different sizes of both babies, but by the second scan both were measuring the same (the smaller of the two) and so I was pushed back 3 days. They say to go with the first date you get...but then if the best proof you've got is a detailed scan what do you do? Oh well, it's all only a matter of days and the scan people only use averages in working these things out...how else can you explain the massive variances in the size of what is a healthy baby?

Hi All,
Been a while I know. Well I had the NT on monday, took a few days for results (didn't say the figure, can pick up the report, but very low) also said we can pick up all the pictures she took. Had to do an internal ultrasound at the end to get the shots as we were rolling away from the camera.
Moving house was stuffed due to electricity not being connected, so only moved last weekend. I have meant to unpack each night but have been too buggered to do anything. Last Dr's appointment got in trouble for losing 3kg (don't eat dinner much, lost appetite) and I must admit since husband works night shift & I am home alone, it's struggle to eat anything, but I do eat good during the day. Working on it!
Feeling very run down all the time, hate working full-time wish I could sleep in the afternoons! Started getting things from family (bouncer etc) and brought some cute baby singlets from Best&Less the other day too, all very exciting!
Good note, sickness is pretty much gone, except when I haven't eaten for a while, so that's a big plus. Also found out a friend through hubby is 10wks at the moment so that's exciting!
Better go - time to go home Yippee!! :smiliedance:

She is just so full on and doesnt want to listen to a word I say :(. I feel so helpless at times....DH is great support but is at work during the day. Sorry to vent...

Poor Kas is not enjoying this 2nd Trimester thing. Today for the second time this week she is too sick to go to work :gloomy:. She is so tired she can't stay awake long enough to string a sentence together . Plus she was up half the night with heartburn .
She is so unwell I've taken a rec day to look after her today. In reality this means wandering up every hour and checking if she needs anything and spending the rest of the time playing computer games. Hey, I've got to get my gameplaying in before the baby arrives. It could be my last opportunity for awhile :)
I guess I'll also do the laundry.

Poor kas, it is alot of work carrying a BUB and it can really tire you out. Has she tried mylanta tablets for the heartburn. They are my best friend at the moment. I have been up alot at night too but me its just insomnea that I didnt get last time when I was pregnant with DD1. I see my OB today so i might talk to him about it as well as the constant nausea. The Blackmores M/S reliefe just isnt working at all.
Hope you have a fun day gaming!!!!!

I know what you mean about insomnia, I felt like I was up half the night! I've also found the secret to the nausea thing (for me at least) is to take the maxalon BEFORE I start feeling :barf: You can take it three times a day (every 6-8 hours) and for the past two nights I've made sure to take one at about 2am when I am up going to the loo for the millionth time. It has made the world of difference. I am becoming an addict, but it's not forever.
I want time to go quickly between now and Tuesday's scan but I have the day off with the kids today and even though I love it, it never seems to 'fly by', especially when I am tired and pregnant!
I want to get to Spotlight to get some nice fabric to make some friends some handbags for upcoming birthdays, but I'm already tired just thinking about doing that with the two kids in tow!! Might just wait until tomorrow morning when DH is around.
On another note, I've just had a craving for tomato cuppa soup. Not even the real stuff that might actually have some nutritional value...oh well, I've had one and gee it was goooood!
Have done 4 loads of washing this morning, just doing my bit for Brisbane's water crisis:eek:

:wave:Good morning ladies & gents,
Sorry for no reply to the nursery comments, havent checked this thread for a couple of days.
(*chels*, electric mumi, naebie) - I'm an organisation freak!!! Worked in nursing and Real estate for yrs so i have a bad habit of planning ahead.
Only problem now is it seems like so long before i can lay my little person down in there!!! The early finish on it occured too due to my hubby getting his long service pay out so we took the oppurtunity to get everything while we had the money.
The tiredness is not subsiding either. I can sympathize with CraigS and kas. I get like 11hrs sleep every night and am still flat on my back during the day!!! I have never been so tired in my life and the headaches are driving me CRAZY!! No heartburn at least. My chest is a point of concern for me too. Normally im a B cup and im already carrying around Double E's. I come from a family of big chested women and always joked that i escaped the curse but now it has visited with avengence!!!
Hope alls day goes well and i will post again soon.

Hi all.
What a horrid day I had yesterday.
Was at work for a 9 hour shift (standing all day) and was about 5 hours into it and my pelvis was killing! It just got worse and worse! Buy 8 hours I was in tears and ready to come home. Even phoned DH he told me to go home, but I thoght, meh, only 1 hour left I can press on.
I came home, DH held me up under a hot shower then I came out and collapsed in tears, the pain was so bad! I can't believe how bad it has gotten so soon! Bring on next week when I can organise the physio! At this rate I'll be totally bed ridden in another 3 months!:crying:
I'm still sore today, but it's not too bad in the mornings, seem as the day presses on it gets worse and worse. I was hoping to escape it this pregnancy but it looks like the dreaded SPD is here to stay!!:hissy::banghead:
All those organised freaks out there, lol... are you going to find out what you're having? I really want a surprise but I too am an organised freak and have to have everything ready, so I think I'm going to cave by the time the 20 week scan rolls around and find out.

naebie
04-04-2008, 11:24 AM
Apparently dizzy spells can be quite common, but if you are at all concerned, you should contact your OB. I have heard that dizzy spells can be a precursor to pre-eclampsia.
I've been getting dizzy when I stand up as well, but I have found if I slow down then they seem to be a lot less concerning.

Twiglet - ive been having them as well and I have blacked out a few time too but mine was due to low blood pressure. Thankfully it was fine when they last checked it but I would check with your OB just in case.
Lunar - my pelvis is rotten too. It was one of the main parts of my back damaged when I had our accidnet and it gives me grief all the time. I know your pain - its awful. Hugs xx

Oh ladies we all seem to be knocked by pregnancy one way or the other.
I am happy to sleep through the night if it wasn't for my bladder and my 16.5 month old son is getting 3 molars at once and the past 3 nights he has been waking up heaps. Poor sod. Morning sickness is non stop now days just have a few chews of something then I'm off and running to the toilet. So wish maxalon didn't make me so tired. To make things worse I managed to walk into the side of our clothes line yesterday and have given myself whiplash, just when my brother has managed to get my neck right. Thankfully its just painful when I try to move my neck and swollen but no headaches so just slight muscle damage which will repair.
I am really starting to worry about having 2 kids 2 and under will be a trying time. Hopefully mum will be living near us where ever we end up so that will help sooooo much.
I have been wanting to buy something for the baby but I think I will wait till I find out the sex and was concerned about buying something too small (0000) as liam was 10p3oz so bubs may not even fit into it. Was going to stock up on newborn nappies but they are only to 5 kilos? and liam was 4.6 when he was born so bubs may not be in them for long anyway if at all. Ah not sure if other mums agree but I found when bubs is a bit older the aldi nappies are fantastic and so much cheaper. I personally wouldn't use them on my newborn as their bums are so sensitive.
Ok hope we all feel better soon. Take care.

Twiglet - ring your doctor straight away. The dizzy spells might be normal but the pain in your neck doesn't sound very normal.
After hearing everyone elses complaints, my tiredness seems to be a minor issue. Hope you all have a restful weekend.
And for anyone worried about extra babies and how you will cope, I too am concerned about having 4 kids who are 4 and under, but when DS arrived, DD seemed to take it all in her stride and we all settled in pretty quickly. The main issue is that it is very hard to coordinate their rest times so that you get one as well. I recommend having plenty of activities and dvds on hand for the older child so that they can amuse themselves in a safe way while you are feeding, laying on the couch etc.!!!

My great grandmother had 16 and my grandmother had 10.
Before you ask yes we are irish catholic.
Needless to say neither my mother or her 5 sisters have beaten either of those records. Although my Uncle has 6
I know how my Grandmother coped...... she made my mother do everything. By the age of 5 she was helping cook dinner for the family and care for the younger ones.

I know what you mean Twiglet, my Great-Grandmothers on either side had 9 and 10 and then my dad's mum had 7. It was obviously different back then as well in that those women didn't know a life other than that. I'm not being patronising, they were amazing, but I think one of the things I find tough is knowing how much I love my job and all of the things that go with it. If I'd never had that, it might be different!!
Having said that, a girl from my pre-natal group with LouLou told us that all she ever wanted to do was be a stay at home mum, she hated her job and couldn't wait to be pregnant so she could pack it in!!!! I guess if I hated my job, that might be my mindset too!
Anyway, I'd better get used to the idea - I had only 6 months off with each of my babies, but this time it will be at least 2 years (although I'm sure I'll sneak back to a couple of days work a fortnight for sanity purposes!)
Now, off to make an apron for LouLou and Archie, as you said, it's never to early to learn to cook and change nappies!!!

Sorry to hear so many of you are still suffering, I'm pretty good except a nasty cold but the tiredness has eased up and it helps my friend who is DD's god mother is over from the UK at the moment and is a big help with DD.
Kirra - my DD (Ruby) was born on the 14th Nov 06 so 4 days older than your Liam how cool is that, we'll have 2 the same age or nearly - when is your due date with no 2, mine is the 5th Oct, and I know how you feel about wondering if you'll cope with 2 I feel the same way but I think come Oct we'll manage.
Has anyone got any exciting plans for the weekend?
Well must go it's Ruby's bedtime and I've got a yummy yummy takeaway coming and a very small glass of wine to consume and I can't wait.
Have a lovely weekend all and to all those poorly hope you all feel better soon

I had my first antinatal apt today and the midwife was fabulous!!
She said to stick with the first due date as it is much more accurate than the later dates you are given.
Also was given some fabulous info re labor and birthing.
She said that baby should be facing your back as your labor can be shorter and less painful!! Check out this website she gave me to show you how to turn baby around ... www.spinningbabies.com (http://www.spinningbabies.com)
Apparently on your back is the worst way to birth as its like pushing baby up hill. Walking around, in shower, over fitball, on hands and knees is much better she said unless you are so tired you cant be in any other position!!
She said you have to stay calm and invisage the contractions as waves...the high rise and then the fall when it eases off. Think it is one closer to you seeing your little miracle!

I agree with her there about birthing positions.
I birthed DD1 on my back (I had no choice) and DD2 I birthed kneeling on the bed leaning against the up right bed head. Although by the time I got to pushing DD2 out I had been in active labour for 25 hours, I was dead tired! But I wanted her out! Lucky I did birth that way, she was a big bubba and I think I would've ended up with another 3rd degree tear if I birthed her on my back.
What ever YOU think is comfortable (as comfortable as child birth can be:rolleyes:) you should try all different positions. I think the Dr's like mothers on their back as they can see everything better, but it really is THE worst way to birth.
Besides.... birth is a LOOOONG ways off for us, lol.
I shouldn't be scaring all you first timers with my stories, lol.
Hope everyone has a nice w/end.

Yep liam was had his back to mine and no way was he moving. After I got out of the bath at the hospital my waters broke and due to meconium in the water I was stuck in bed on my back or side with heart rate strap around my tummy and one strapped to bubs head. Would of loved to move but in the end of the day I trusted the midwifes so no matter how uncomfortable I was I knew we were getting the best of care and knowledge. Each birthing story is different and in the end we end up with the perfect package.

I think Ive got to get into the habit of checking in every couple of days, takes me so long to get through everything. Congrats to everyone who has had posite results from their NT scans mines on Wed at 11.30 4 sleeps to go!!!! DP and I cant wait!! Had my blood test Thurs asked my GP if I'd be able to hear a heart beat but she said doplers arent strong enough to hear them at 11 weeks so was a bit disapointed but looking forward to my scan and seeing the little thing inside me. Am a little bit worried cause all the little twinges I've been haing in my tummy have eased off and they were the only thing I had to tell me there was a bubs in there cause luckily i escaped the terrible MS.
Have started packing away some of my clothes, I'm going to have to go shopping soon, only my jeans fit me now and Im sick of wearing jeans, but I dont want to buy anything for me or bubs till im 12 weeks, or at least till ie had my scan.
Hope everryone is having a lovely weekend and for those lovely ladies still feeling sick i hope it starts to ease for you soon.

Hi ladies and gent well I went up to my inlaws on Thursday arvo and when Sarah spotted me she ran to me crying really broke my heart that she missed me so much.
Matt rang and told me that the meatworks has now officailly been sold and the company who has won the tender is going to only keep it open as a packing plant so there will only be one inspector needed. So what this means is there is 3 inspectors and one job and the two unsucessfuls have to transfer. I don't start work until the Monday after next so I have a weeks grace but I've got a few things to do in that week.
I can sympathyse with the feeling of absolute tieredness. I have Sarah who keeps me going but on top of that Matt is having some issues the loss of Jack they seem to have gotten on top of him with the added stress of having to move with work. I didn't sleep well over the last couple of nights (not being in my own bed and sleeping with Sarah didn't help) mainly worrying about Matt. I have now inlisted help from one of his mates because I don't know what else to do. Not going to tell his family yet because they just won't know how to deal with him.
My nursery was never really packed away, I left the cot in the room and just packed up everything else not going to pull them out now until about August. Like Chels said it helps having stuff from other bubs plus I don't need to get any clothes because I have them all too as well as 5 boxes of huggies newborn nappies. All I have to buy is maternity pads. I did buy a new pair of maternity trackies for working in the packing shed for the next couple of months. Just wondering how that is going to go because I really don't want to go up to work. My two dogs are up there and they aren't being handled like I handle them and my poor cat has to stay home and no privacey and it is going to be hell. what I'll do to earn some money. Okay sorry I had to vent just all seems to be getting on top of me today. I am glad to be home I can try and nap while Sarah is watching TV and at least I know she is safe. I love being at home and don't want to leave....:( on the plus side while napping Sarah came in climbed on my bed and went to sleep for about an hour and I didn't have to ask her to have a sleep.

Hi everyone,
This is my first pregnancy, we are due on 16th October. Wow.. What an incredibly wonderful, scary, surreal, amazing experience thus far.
I have been sick now for at least 8 weeks but it is starting to ease a little. I am not showing at all, you wouldn't know from the surface that i am pregnant. When do you usually start to show with your first?
We had our 12 week scan yesterday and all looks very normal. We get the D/S risk results back when we see our OB on Tuesday, i hope all is ok.
Our baby was very stubborn and naughty yesterday during the ultrasound (i hope this isn't a sign of things to come! ha ha ha). He/She was jumping around too much initially and then fell asleep in the wrong position and was not interested at all in moving. Our ultrasound took 2 hours because we couldn't get the right angle to measure the fluid. Everytime the sonographer poked my tummy to get bub to move it just kicked her right back!! Attitude at 12 weeks!! =)
I am enjoying reading through all of your posts - it's nice getting to hear from people going through this too. I am adopted so my Mum has never been pregnant, neither has my aunt, and i have no siblings so not too many people to direct questions at.. this forum is a great place to talk to people.. thank you. I am only new, but i suspect I may become a regular visitor.
xox
Hope all is well with everyone else and you are starting to feel better!!!

Welcome FirstTimeMummy, I was very frustrated with number one as I didn't start showing until 20 weeks but was definitely too big for my normal clothes! I actually just started buying 'obvious' pregnancy clothes so that no one would think I'd just put on weight!
Birthing Positions - I did both of my final stages of labour on my back (sitting up obviously) and wouldn't have it any other way. I moved around all the way up until the end and then was very comfortable and in control. Having said that, time spent on back was 20 minutes for #1 and about 30 minutes for #2 so it's not like I was up there on the bed for the entire labour process!! Both times I required (asked for) an episiotomy and I was happy to be in that position to make it as easy as possible for the doctor to make a correct and well placed incision!!
The main thing is that you are comfortable and feel in control and able to make your own decision to move if you are able to do so!!
At the end of the day, it is important - but I think I focused far too much on the actual day of birth during pregnancy 1. Once I'd been there, done that and realised that most of the work occurs during recovery, learning to feed etc. I had a far more balanced view about birthing experience number 2!
Sickness must be lifting - I went for a walk this morning, have sewed a handbag for a friend, gone to IKEA and am about to have a glass of wine!! That magical combination of 12 weeks, DH at home and a weekend with no commitments!!!:ecomcity:

Morning ladies and Craig
Farmmummy - sounds like you are having a very stressful time atm, dont feel bad for venting its always better out than in!!! I think that getting one of Matts mates to help out sounds like a good idea, if he's having issues with Jack and having to deal with the prospect of changing jobs he needs support from as many sources as possible and guys always seem to deal with things differently to girls. Hope things start to improve soon. :hugs:
firsttimemummmy - welcome, its my 1st too!! As for when you start to show I think everyone is different, I started showing at abou 6 or 7 weeks I think, wasnt long after I found out.
question for all the QLd mummie, I'm heading up to the Gold Coast on hols and was wondering if anyone can tell me any good places to buy maternity clothes, there isnt a lot where I live and I wont be in Adelaide for awhile and I'm fast running out of clothes that fit :(. We'll be staying near Pacific Fair. Thanks

Hi everyone
Whew, just caught up on about 4 pages worth, a lot has been happening!
I had been wondering about flu vaccine also, and asked my OB on Friday, he said yes it's safe and many do recommend that pregnant women get it.
FirstTimeMummy -this is my first too, I'm now 14 weeks. I've been noticing my tummy getting bigger for the last few weeks, but just in the last week it's really popped out. Very exciting!! :yelclap: My boss noticed at work on Friday - patted his belly and said, what's going on here, or did you have a really big breakfast? He's great, was happy for me even though he'll have to find someone to cover my leave.
This morning my darling husband surprised me with a card for our "1/2 year" wedding anniversary and a voucher for a weekend away. Our first wedding anniversary is 6th October, and our due date is now 4th October, so he figured we'd be a bit busy then!!! He's very sweet. :valentine: ....Although I can sympathise with Kas and Craig, he too is addicted to computer gaming, has to get his daily fix of world of warcraft. At least WOW is cheaper than his bike obsession! I must add, the card was given to a very sleepy me this morning at 6:30am as he left in the rain to go race in a 40km time trial. I stayed behind this time - usually I go and watch, but the rain wasn't very appealing this morning!
I've been taking mylanta tablets for heartburn, too, but if it gets much worse I'm considering going on zantac - has anyone else been on this in pregnancy?
Yacine's mommy - could you change my due date to 4th October on the list? Thanks :flowerz:

Hi ladies :)
I just found this forum, my name is Chloe and i'm 20 years old. Me and my husband have been together for almost 7 years and we were married in December of last year.
I am due October 13th 2008 making me 12 weeks 6 days pregnant

Very cute pic Mandymum2b.

Welcome Chloe!!
I got my NT results back on friday, they weren't the best. NT Fold and bloods were fine but my baby has only one umblical artery and a very fast heart geat so I am high risk for Down syndrome. We have to see the Registra this week sometime. Was not the best news but I think we will be right. :)
Has anyone had not so good NT scan results?

Bek - my sister-in-law had only one artery in the cord and had all the risks explained to her as well. She has a beautiful and very healthy and happy (and normal - whatever that means!!) 18 month old now. She carried him to full term and he was a healthy weight.
Good luck...

My goodness I haven't been on to visit for a long long time. My apologies for being so rude. I had a terrible flu to contend with for the last 2 weeks and have been bed ridden or so weary I could not even look at the computer.
I'll tell you what though...my stomach has gotten huge in these past few weeks! I feel very pregnant now (in my 14th week - very exciting) It feels like it's all going by very quickly now, not so long and tedious now that I no longer have my morning sickness.
Mandymum2b you're almost at the same stage as me - it was amazing to see that picture of your little bub and know that my little one likely looks very similar. Last I saw was a faint static blur at 8 weeks.
Sorry again for my lengthy absence and I hope to make amends by being much more present from now on.

Yep gross I know...think my bladder must be weakening as I have never had to worry about this issue before. Im concerned as Im only 30 and am only 14 weeks preg..what am i gona be like at 30 weeks????!

Well, I don't have my results from scan/blood tests yet. See doctor on Wednesday. Will be interesting since I will have two little tag alongs for appointment. Will probably have no hair left when finished. Have that wedding to go to this weekend. Best friend was about 9 and a half weeks pregnant. Was so excited about being pregnant together. She went for a dating scan last week. Sac, no baby. She's since had some tests done and they diagnosed her with a blighted ovum. Absolutely devastated. She's off to Mackay today for a D & C. I feel terrible:(. Can't imagine how she'll feel when she sees me at end of week. Coming to visit for 5 days. I really don't know how I'll cope either. I swear my belly button is going to pop in a few weeks. I'm so big. Only a couple more weeks to find out. Getting more excited each week. It is really flying. :ecomcity:

Not feeling too well. Had work all day again yesterday, pelvic pain was almost unbareable.:crying:
Had a fight with one of the managers, only cos she's a ***** and couldn't give 2 hoots about the staff.
Bek~ what were your actual results? What was your ratio?
A single umbilical artery is not generally a soft marker for d/s. If your bloods and Nuchal fold results put bub in the low risk category, just stick with that hun.
Honestly, every time I see a diff Dr other than my own, I am the one telling them what the statistics are, what things mean and how things really are. The 2 Dr's and the middy that did my NT scan were actually really surprised at how informed I was, and how much more info I had to share that they didn't actually know themselves.
I think they all like to scare us really.
We already have one child with Down syndrome, if we were to be blessed with another child with d/s then that would make no difference to our lives. We've done it once, we can do it again. It's not a life sentence, it's our baby/child.
We already love this baby, whether is has 3 eyes, 1 ear and 2 heads! 47 chromosomes whatever!! It's our baby, and he/she was made 100% with love, what could possibly be bad about that?
Hope everyone has a good week.
I have an OB app this afternoon.

Hello everyone! And welcome to FirstTimeMummy & Chloe :) This is gonna be my first too, isn't it exciting?
And as always, it's so good to read everyone's experience & concerns. Make me feel not so alone in this.
Had my NT scan on Friday, result was 1 in 10500 for D/S and 1 in 100000 for another syndrome (can't remember the name, not sure what it is actually). The Doc said that's low, so we're pretty happy with it.
And most importantly little bubba's growth is consistent with wk 11's scan. Can't believe how much s/he's grown within 9 days. At my 3D 11wk scan (i'm so sorry to say) s/he looked like a lump of meat, but at 12 wk & 2 days, s/he looked more real, with longer arms & legs, we could see the form of a baby. Wow!! We were so amazed.
The heartrate was 157, they said it's a good rate, seems a bit low compared to most people's i think. but if they said not to worry, i won't worry.
still got the remnants of my cold, occasionally blocked nose and phlegm that's continuously fighting its way out without any success, make me feel like :barf:all the time (sorry for being so yucky). And some lower back pain sometimes, neck pain every morning, etc etc etc.
at 12 wk & 5 days, i'm still wearing my pre-pregnancy bra, is this normal? everybody seems to have upsized theirs i feel so left out :( does it mean i won't have as much breastmilk?

Welcome Chloe and FirstTimeMummy!!
Bek - I'm sure that things will work out fine for you and bubs. Keep positive and dont stress too much. The Doc will definately give you all the info they can.
Intoxicated - dont worry about your breast size yet! I'm in my pre pregnancy bra's still too! I was the same with Allegra and I had a great supply! Remember there are many ways that you can increase milk supply one you start lactating - so dont stress!
Not much new with me. All's good on the Eastern front!!

evening all u are feeling okay.
I'm feeling a bit ill this evening so I'm about to go and cook dinner. I spend the day painting the rails on the verandah well undercoating them any way now I have to put colour on them.
Matts mate is going to see him this evening and have a beer with him and to try and help him out so that is a bit of a relief for me. Although with out his mate he seemed to pick up a bit today. He has been given the following choices: Rockhampton, Coominya (1 hour from Brissy), maybe Ipswich and maybe Beenleigh. He did also put his request in for Kilcoy where he has been for the last 4 months.
Tomorrow I have to phone the hospital to discuss my appointments. I was reading my appointment and my next one is the 20/8/08 and further in my orange book they have all my appointments laid out so my next appointment should be when I'm 16 weeks. My next scan is the 19th May.
Umm think that was about it, now not sure if I'm going to go and live with the inlaws to work. I may have to stay at home now and finish painting so that we can sell the house. Hope you all have a good evening I'll hope to come on and chat again later or even tomorrow.

:eek:Electric Mum - if you've never paid attention to your pelvic floor before, now is the time to get yourself to a physio, learn the exercises and do them. Even if it seems as though everything is fine - it's not particularly now but in years to come that you will notice it!!
Re: Bras - the main reason to change to maternity bras is to start protecting the milk ducts and breast tissue in preparation for feeding. If you think your breasts may swell, only buy a couple and put them on high rotation! You'll notice that maternity bras have about 8 rows of clasps on the back, that's so they can grow with you! So buy them as firm as possible upfront and then relase the shoulder straps and expand the back as time goes by....
Wow - really on the countdown to scan time now - only 14 hours-ish to go. Think I'd better do some sewing tonight to keep me busy....

My Pants dont fit anymore :( lol I hate clothes shopping espicially work clothes lol
Lunar - the ratio they gave me was like 1: 4000 so very low but they seemed very concerned with the umbilical artery and the super fast heart rate. I just dont know. Its all very stressful.
But on the up note, I think morning sickness has passed. 14weeks not to bad, I had it until 28weeks with DD2 and 41weeks with dd1 so I am very impressed. *touch wood*

Hi all.
I've had the inlaws visiting so have been unable to follow the forums for the last few days.
We got our results of the NT scan today and were told that we are very low and so no further tests were needed.
We were also told to update our number of weeks to 15 as of today, so I guess I was wrong about keeping the weeks in tune to the LMP.
Given the new week figure and the good results, tomorrow Kas and I can start to publicly announce.
Here is our latest scan.
http://www.flickr.com/photos/grahford/2395107927/
The other interesting thing that happened today was I got some blood tests back. Turns out the reason I've been feeling unwell is that I am anaemic. The prescription.......Folic Acid tablets. So now both Kas and I are on Folic Acid. I probably could have saved some money and just taken hers :)

Good luck today loulous mum.
I got a bad cold when I was in 2nd trimester with liam and couldn't get rid of the cough at all just a dry cough but enough to unsettle the bladder so yes I was wearing pads for a bit during preg. The day after liam was born the cough went away for good  and bladder has been fine since then too.
I have been wearing maternity bras since may june 2006 I only weaned liam just after I realised I was preg again. So looks like another couple of years in them. With DD to E boobs the wanting of underwire support so they don't look like the are just hanging :p. My boobs didn't really get much larger only the first few months of BF thank god wouldn't want to be any bigger than an E.
Farmmummy- Good luck with everything so many uncertainties in your life at the moment adding extra stress and you may be unsure to tell hubbie all your concerns as you are so concerned about him. I hope his friend helps him to express his feelings the best a man can. Must be hard that you both are at different stages of grieving too. I am sending good vibes your way you sound like you need a hug :hugs: and to let down your guard for a tiny bit and not try to be the strong one for everyone else. Sorry if I have stepped out of line at all.

Morning all!
EL Mummy - I love the names Remi and Surayah. I know a girl called Sorayah and she is really lovely!
I'm in a hard place at the moment. I very good friend of mine has recently come out of a long term relationship (17 years) and has about 3 months ago met someone else and is rushing headfirst into this relationship even before a divorce with the first marriage is finalised. The thing is, this new partner is VERY demanding, both mentally and physically to the point where my friends business is suffering and friends are begining to notice a rather negative change. I am going to sit down and discuss it today but its so hard not to hurt a friend when they are blinded by the newness of the relationship. ahhhhh i'm tired thinking about it.
Hope everyone is well today and Loulous mum, hope the scan goes well.

KIRRA: Thanks for that! Been feeling like a dork! hahaa Im getting stuck into the pelvic floor excercises but think I should see a physio as they are more specific to ur needs. I think I have pneumonia actually, hence why I feel no better. My lungs are so damn sore.
PRINCESST: I love REMI too but FOBs name is Hemi so I cant use it! haha You should definately talk to your friend re this new guy. She is rebounding and accepting being dominated by the sounds of things. Its ok for her to have someone else but not to be coping bad behaviour...is she one to need a man in her life do you think?? If so she is behaving unhealthily all round. It is ur duty as her friend to at least tell her how u see things. GOOD LUCK x

loulousmum - Good luck with your scan today! Will keep an eye on your next post to hear how it all went.
I finally got my NT results back and I'm a low risk pregnancy :) Bub is growing within the normal range, and my dates are correct - so unlike my last pregnancy, I don't already have 3 different due dates!! My placenta is posterior. Trisomy 21 Risk is 1:14800, so very low...
Electric Mumi - I've been starting to do the pelvic floor exercises alot more lately too - things just aren't the same since my last child :o
I'm still waiting to feel better too, now that I'm into the second trimester. Feeling mildly better than a few weeks ago, but this nausea and headache just keeps lingering! Was so sure that after 12 weeks I'd feel heaps better. This pregnancy is so different to my last one...

I'm back! My goodness, what an epic adventure the twin scan is....
All is well for both babies:smiliedance: They have given me a once and for all due date of 18 October - which I'm happy to accept as it brings me forward 3 days rather than putting me back like the others have!!!
They couldn't use the blood tests as the twins are fraternal, but even given that, the ultrasound plus my age risk mean that each baby is about 1 in 3000. They told me that that is about as good as it gets for a 33 year old when bloods aren't factored in.
Heartbeats very strong. One is sitting low and one is sitting high rather than side by side. That explains why I'm sticking out so high so early - not just all the chocolate I've been eating:)
So, I can now heave a huge sigh of relief...they tell me that they treat fraternals as two pregnancies for risk factors and that each baby is now at as much risk as any other singleton baby after a successful 12 week scan (and that's very low ladies - in case you are wondering!!!)
I can't get the smile off my face. I'm so very very happy, I'm almost floating on :cloud9:
At least for today - I'm not feeling morning sickness, sore back and pelvis, heaviness, pimply face, headaches and anxiety about coping with twins....
Have a fab day!:flowerz: And thanks for the good wishes!
Twiglet, great to hear it all went well for you, although now we aren't due date buddies anymore!!

Pink Lily - I do believe in that old wives' tale! When I was preg with Archie I was glowing, but with LouLou it was another story entirely. In fact, an Italian parent of a child I taught came up to me at a parent teacher evening when I was about 8 months and said "You must be having a girl, she has robbed you of your beauty!". Nice, but true.

Hello ladies and Craig
Loulousmum - Glad to hear all went well. Now when you have some one being negative you can tell them that the risk isn't as high as they think
Kirra - You didn't step over the line hun, infact thank you nice to know that some one out there cares. His mate went and had dinner with him last night and from what his friend reported to me this morning it sounds all positive so I'm hoping things will start to smooth out now.
Electric Mum - I was lazy with Pelvic floor with Jack last year. After I had him I couldn't yell at Sarah let alone sneeze with out wetting myself. I am consequently already doing them this time. It's never to early or too late.
I sorted out the hospital this morning the lady at the clinic was really helpful. I don't have to have a 16 week appointment because last week when I booked in I had a midwife then an ob appointment in the same day instead of midwife to book in then at 16 weeks an ob appointment. Then I explained that the Registra wanted me to see an ob after my next scan so I've got that booked for the 19th May still and my ob appointment for the 21st may. Will be interesting to see what the lady I'm about to start working for takes it. I'm assuming that she will understand if not I'm okay with that too.
Just thinking last night while putting Sarah to bed, once you get to the 12 week mark time seems to start to move quickly. I'm 14 weeks on Thursday, like wow I can't believe it's 14 weeks already feels just like yesterday that I was stressing about reaching the 12 week mark.
For the last two days I've been painting the hand rails on the verandah with undercoat. Today is a lazy day, I have to start colour tomorrow if the weather permits, I'd like to do as much as possible before Matt gets home on Thursday night. try and do my bit for my darling. I miss him soo much and I miss the way things were before we lost Jack....oh well I guess i've bored every one enough hope you are all feeling or starting to feel better.
Sorry Im a bit slow.
Im not feeling better. Still quezy nearly all the time.
I think I may have a bit of a bump happening now though, my sister seems to think so.
My 12 week scan is the 21st of April. Ill just be relieved to see that everything is ok and to hear the heartbeat! :goodvibes:
Im also booked into hospital now. St John of God in Berwick, for those of you that may know it. Its seems more like a 5 star hotel then a hospital, which Im glad of, as Ive never been admitted to hospital for anything.

I am hoping most of the family will forget (apart from my parents) I will be turning 30 and still not in the mood to celebrate couldn't even think of where to go for lunch as my stomach is so sensitive. I had a big birthday last year in the hope that I would be up the duff this year so all is well.

As for a bump with me I know its there as my clothes are much tighter but It will be awhile before it gets through the bump of fat .

Hi ladies!
Congrats on all the great scan results!
Jumpingbean~ we have the same due date!:yelclap:
Welcome!
I have my booking in app with the hospital this afternoon. I know I'm going to have to answer a gazillion questions about why I'm not have CVS or amnio...and about DD1, what happened etc etc etc... drives me up the friggen wall!!!
I don't know if I'm getting 'boy' or 'girl' vibes this time. I got them with both DD's from about 9-10 weeks, I just KNEW I was carrying a girl, both times! This time, I really have no idea! Somedays I think boy, but then I think girl the next. I think it will be our luck to get another girl, but then I think it will be our luck we will get a boy cos we don't have ANY boy stuff!
DH and I have a few more weeks before we have to decide if we are going to find out the sex.
I think we will, but it would be nice to have a surprise, but I want to be organised!!! I want to have everything ready for when baby comes so we don't have to go out and buy stuff, I can just lay around the house and enjoy our new baby.:bee: argh! decisions decisions!
I'm still feeling so tired!
My hair is so oily, I have to wash it every morning! I wake up and it looks like I haven't washed it in a month!... ewwww
Best be off and do some dreaded housework before I have to leave for my app.
Have a nice day everyone!

Hi All,
Loulousmum - that's so exciting about your scan on the twins, must be great being able to see them both and knowing they are all healthy! :yelclap:
I know what everyone means about pimples, I keep breaking out (sometimes bad, othertimes I can feel them but not see them, but I can't help but pick at them!)
I am feeling very bloated at the moment. A few people have mentioned I am really showing - but to be honest I was always overweight around hips/butt and had a few comments in the past I looked pregnant! I think they all think I am showing as I am unable to suck in my stomach as I used to! :D
Still trying to regain my appetite, not used to eating alot from when I had nausea, so now that I don't eating medium sized meals regularly is an effort!
Anyway, should get back to work - :goodvibes: positive vibes to everyone!

Luna - Good luck and have fun. I had to go over similar questions last week all about Jack. I had to relive everything a couple of times in one day.
Chels - I feel for you with your migrane I had one th other night that panadol wouldn't budge.
I just went into the drs to talk about my asthma (I've been unlucky to be born with it pretty much) playing up with the now cooler weather and I mentioned to him about starting work next Monday, wow I got a huge lecture about not working. Unless I find something to do to that involves sitting down "don't work". BBecause all my ligaments etc as all soft and stretched etc that I can cause some seriouse injuries to myself. After thinking about it on the way home I had to conseed that he was right. My migrane the other night was because I slept the wrong way and my neck was out, once it popped back in I was fine. Towards the end of both Sarah and Jack's pregnancies my tail bone hurts this time it is killing me already. I broke my tail bone when I was in grade 10 on the corner of mums coffee table picking up broken glass. So now I have to talk to the lady who is giving me the job to find out if there is any sitting and if not I'm going to have to decline and look for another way to earn money :(

Thanks for the welcomes girls!
My hair is oily also, I thought it was supposed to now improve and move into the second trimester "glow". Aint happening here yet.
I'm a bit tired today. DD decided that 4:30am was a good time to wake.:hair: I feel like a nanna nap is coming on! Nice horrible weather for it tho, so I don't feel as guilty.
Hope everyone's well. x

Welcome Kellie!
I'm not in the mood for anything today. I'm supposed to be writing a detailed synopsis for my book for the publisher but I just dont have the strength. Perhaps after a cuppa I might feel more into it???
PS - My hair is vile too. I cant wait till things sort themselves out!!! I need to glowwwwwwwwww

Teena - hope the cuppa makes you feel better. I can totaly relate. Since getting home from drs all I want to do is sleep and on top of that my neck has started aching again so I'm guessing my neck is back out. Just can't face the house work. Gotta start in the morning but Matt is due home and has been away since Tuesday last week.
Just thought of something I forgot to add before. GP listened to bubs heart beat only caught it for a couple of moments. Midwife was checking to low last week when I lay down bub goes up my tummy and placenta is in the way at the moment. Sonographer said it will change before next scan

Mumtoethan its my birthday next week too. I am hoping most of the family will forget (apart from my parents) I will be turning 30 and still not in the mood to celebrate couldn't even think of where to go for lunch as my stomach is so sensitive. I had a big birthday last year in the hope that I would be up the duff this year so all is well.
You should celebrate. Every year and more so on the O's. Its my 40th 20 days after my EDD. Lets hope Twiglet is not late. Can just see myself dancing away and then my waters breaking. LOL. Have friends flying in from Sydney, Melbourne plus Mum and Dad are moving back to Perth so even if bub has arrived there will be lots of help for the party. Can't wait for both events.

Hi Ladies,
Welcome Kellie - glad to hear your scan went well. I love your DD's name, Annabelle  - it's very cute!!
Loulous mum - really pleased to hear your scan went so well also & that your little twinny bubs are doing fine. You must have been thrilled!!
Electric Mumi - sorry to hear you have asthma. I guess it must be kind of good to now know what's going on. Have you ever had it before or is it something new? I've got a dr's appt tomorrow morn to see what's going on with my chest lately - am very wheezy and tight chested at night. It's horrible - the coughing etc, my chest is killing me! Have been having puffs of DH's ventolin inhaler and it helps, so I wonder if I have a touch of it too? I wonder if pregnancy can bring it on? Did the dr say anything to you about that?
Have my 12wk scan on Fri at 2pm & am feeling very, very nervous. The results from my d&c in Nov last year showed a chromosomal disorder so I'm hoping this bub will be ok. Not long now.....
Anyway, hope everyone's having a good day.
Gotta go start something for tea.
Bye

What do you guys think of the name Araminta? For some reason, I really like it but think perhaps its too similar to our DD name, which is Allegra. Boys names still continue to evade my brain!

09-04-2008, 03:18 PM
Teena - very unsual but I like it. I've been thinking for traditional names for my girls names:
Elizabeth Jayne
Catherine Mary
Boys I don't know I've got a couple:
Wyatt
Elliott
Darcy (as much as I like this one DH won't agree to it)
Patrick
My family is Irish decent so I like to stick to tradition thats why Jack was John (Males on Matts dads side) Leslie (My grandfathers name and my dad's middle name) and we called him Jack as a family nic name.

WOW you ladies have been busy.
I might have to give up work to keep up with it all. lol
I am glad to hear people are getting postive results from there NT scans. We are still waiting to hear back from the hospital in re: to our results. I might call them tomorrow and do my nag voice to see if I can get anywhere with them.
I went MCN shopping online last night and probably spent WAY to much money but I love them. I ordered a Cow Nappy lol.
Like others we are toying with the idea of finding out the sex or not. Part of me wants to but it being our last bub I kinda dont want too.

Can anyone feel their bubs yet? I think I can. This is my first baby so I'm not certain what it's supposed to be like, but I feel this little flutter every now and then. My mum thinks it's probably gas, but it feels different to that.
Maybe I'm just hoping I can feel it squirming around :)

Thanks everyone for your lovely thoughts and wishes. I am still so excited and feel as though the veil of worry and illness of the first trimester has well and truly lifted!!
Myer has 25% off Winter maternity and 30% off Summer. I bought four items which along with what I have got already should just about do me - unless I get too massive...
Mandamum - I'm sure it is your baby you are feeling. Until they get bigger, it won't happen regularly enough for you to be sure, but trust your instincts. I've had those feelings for about a week and a half now and they are getting more regular! My placenta is on the front wall, so I may not feel kicking from the outside until quite late!
Good luck Mookie, I'm sure everything will be fine.
BTW we are definitely finding out sex! At the moment my two frontrunner girls names are Harriet (Hattie) and Beatrix (Trixie) and boys names I like Red (short for Redley or Redmond), Perry (after Perry Cox from Scrubs) and Chandler (getting back into friends at the moment!!) but I'm sure those will change over the next 6 weeks until the scan - it is on 27 May!:ecomcity:
Have a wonderful evening everyone!

Nikki-I sometimes get a migraine in my sleep:confused:Must be from sleeping funny?
My head is still throbbing:(I wish I could take nurofen!!!!
I went through some of Rileys old baby stuff today, pulled out some toys, and some bodysuits and bibs and stuff like that.
DH and I decided on a name today!!I am setting it in stone!!!I told DH he could chose the middle name.I am keeping it under wraps for now tho.
Oh and I thought I felt bubs before, but it was quite strong.Might have just been gas or something like that tho coz it was about an hour after dinner, when I had my hot choc.Or maybe bubs got really warm?

evening all
well I had my NT scan today, everything looks ok. was so cool to see bubs, it didnt move much i think it was asleep which made it easy to do all the measurements. was just so happy when I saw bubs appear on the screen for the 1st time, i loved laying there watching its little heart beat :cloud9:. The scan puts my due date forward 5 days till the 20th but when I saw the gyn/ob on Mon she put my date as the 27th so who knows when its due, I think I'll keep working to the 25th, not that it probally matters bubs will come when it wants.
Now I can start shopping and will finally let myself buy some maternity clothes, will be nice to have pants that do up again lol.

Chels - Maybe the hot chocolate was the sugar fix that got baby moving!!
Krissy M - Glad it all went well. Having the nice new clothes I bought after our scan on Tuesday has made me feel like a new woman!
Will check in later, we are expecting a builder to come and talk with us about our home extension!! (Now there's a phrase I never thought I'd hear myself say!)
Still craving cuppa soups...off to have a tomato one now....:)

Kirra - I have always liked Elliott. Not sure what to use as a middle name
Chels - I'm getting them for no other reason than I'm moving wrong. Worse case you can take panadine Forte. Drs I've all spoken to have told me to use that.
well good news for me is I dont have to work. I declined te work today and told the other half. Who said he wont mind what ever way I choose but I can tell he is disappointed. I'm sure we'll be able to survive I think he's just paranoid. Wish me luck for the next 3 days while he is home. Especally the way his been over the last 2 weeks. Hope to talk to you soon. Take care if I don't get to talk to you all again this week.

Hi again everyone!
I have just caught up on the last 5 days worth of threads! phew!
13 weeks today!! YAY!!
We had our 12 week scan last week and it all went really well. 1 in 47,000 which are fantastic odds and I couldn't be happier!! =)
Bub was being very stubborn and cheeky during the ultrasound. It just flat out refused to move into the right position to get the nucal measurements! It was moving around a lot but just wouldn't lay on it's back. Everytime the sonographer poked bub to get it to roll over it just kicked her right back! Hilarious!! Attitude at 12 weeks. I wonder if this is a sign of things to come?? ha ha ha
I am not showing at all yet, in fact, i have lost 2kg! I wonder if all that morning sickness has contributed?! =) I'm looking forward to developing a bump.
Feeling MUCH better. THe nausea has settled to the morning only which is good. I am back at the gym too this week which is such a relief... gee am i unfit from taking the last 8 weeks off!!!
It's so good to hear you are all doing really well. Exciting times. I really feel like I am connecting to bub now and developing strong maternal feelings.. it's wonderful!
Had a dream last night that bub was a boy. Having strong boy instincts.. but we'll see!

Hello,
Is anyone else feeling really run down, lethargic  and getting some dizziness/headspins??
I've started bad since yesterday, walking a small distance uphill I am puffing, dizzy etc (a little overweight, never really fit, but not badly unfit either in the past). Today I have no energy, feel like I could pass out I am that exhausted, and I had yesterday off sick as it was (at work today).
I know I haven't eaten much red meat the last few months so think it could just be cause my iron levels are low? I took some iron tablets last night and hope that should help - but does anyone else have ideas/feel the same?
I am 15 weeks this weekend. Bub #1.
Thanks!
