I really need help in understanding how PCO affects fertility. I don't have PCOS and that is all I find when I search for PCO on google.
I O on my own and my hormones are normal. Cycles are 30-36 days.
My FS in on leave until next week and I begin IUI (with my nurse) on Wednesday.
Does anyone have PCO and understand HOW it affects fertility? Thanks! :hugs:
Is the egg quality in ovulated eggs poor?
P.S: I also asked the same question in another post, but thought I would have better luck if I start a thread.

Hi Singa
I have PCOS. It does effect fertility because you don't ovulate regularly - my cycles were sometimes 70-80 days long. When doctors treated it - they tried to induce ovulation and then business as usual.
If you are ovulating on your own and regularly - you are 95% of the way there.
The other issue with PCOS is that you are at higher risk of miscarriage due to some imbalances of hormones (Leutanizing Hormone to be specific) - but I wouldn't worry about that if I was you

Thanks for your replies. I was just confused as I know women with PCO and they have conceived naturally. I guess it affects everybody different.
I'm not sure how it does either, but I have PCO (not PCOS) and conceived naturally. It only took one month (only BD'd once, so you could say 'one try') and my cycle was 'roughly' 32 days and I was ovulating by myself with no drugs at all. I feel very lucky to have conceived so easily when I had PCO . I worked out the best day to BD using a chart that I got from the internet.

The first time I charted I feel pregnant too, but it ended in m/c at 5 weeks. I then went on clomid and had 2 chemical pregnancies. This was all before I was told I had PCO. Now the FSH injections with IUI should help produce one dominate follicle and hopefully I will conceive!!!
