I have bought some chrome lights for my new house and they are 240v i keep getting confused though as to which lights are better as in not blowing all the time. is it 240v or 12v? The woman from a lighting shop said one of them comes with a transformer which makes it better. i bought my light of ebay for a bargain and it doesn't bother me but id like to no for the future wether i should buy 12v or 240v lights?
Hi I'm no expert, but 12V lights will come with a transformer and I think this means you can DIY, as the voltage is so low, its not a hazard if you get shocked (at least a shock from the 12V side). A lot of outdoor lighting systems are 12V.
Standard light fittings for your house should be 240 V and you will need a licenced electrician to install these (as a shock from 240 V can certainly be fatal). Not sure about them blowing though, if they are rated for 240 V they should be fine.
