We are getting DD baptised in the uniting church. As we have some family members who have to travel a long way to get here, we thought we might combine the baptism with her birthday- have the baptism in the morning at church and then come back to the house for lunch and birthday celebrations. Would this be okay or would it be weird?
Should I make two cakes - one for the baptism and one for the birthday or just choose one?

We had DS baptism and 1st birthday party on the same day - it was a huge day and poor DS was so overwhelmed ... but it was still a wonderful day.
We only did one cake ... just a birthday cake.

this is exactly what we did for the same reason...family travelled over from Ireland, so we combined the two. we had only family at the christening and then family and friends and children at an afternoon 1st birthday party.
except, my numnut husband told half the people that it was a christening party in the afternoon so they all rocked up with all these religious presents.....how many 'christening day' photo frames can a one year old handle. i was so disappointed. yeah yeah , i know i'm supposed to be grateful for presents at all.....but i personally know its hard to source a good christening present, especially one that is unique. and i'm sure it would have been easier for everyone to shop for a simple toy or story book. as you can tell, i'm still not over this.
so next time, i'm 100% in charge. because we're likely to do the same for No. 3 for same reasons.
