Hi everyone
Just managed to find the Perth forum - I've been looking for it for days!!!
Anyway, just wanted to say "Hi" and that I look forward to chatting, and even maybe getting together when I move in June/June (I'm in San Antonio, Texas at the moment).
Thanks to all the Mum's who've already started chatting on the intro page - keep it up!
I'm a Mum to two gorgeous girls aged 11 (yesterday!) and 8. Both were homebirths in England, and I just loved every minute of both births.........AMAZING experience! :smiliedance: That's what got me interested in Doula-ing!
Please feel free to contact me if you need to know anything about Doulas!
Look forward to chatting!
Jane :ecomcity:
Hi Jane,
Well I'm glad you've come to your senses and picked a beautiful country and state to live in. Don't get me wrong I have never been to England or Texas but Englands cold and Texas hot were as Perth is just perfect (most of the time) :yelclap:
I don't need a doula but all the best for your move, do you know where you will be living in Perth?

Hi Loopi1
So what's the story behind your miracle baby? He's gorgeous!
I hope you're right about this being a good move! It's all happened so quickly and there's so much to do in such a short time that I haven't really had time to get my head around it! Perth does look beautiful, and I can't wait to be there - just wish I could close my eyes and have everything done when I open them again!!!
I have no idea yet where we'll be living........my DH's job is with Association for the Blind of WA in Victoria Park, and my dogs will be quarantined in Byford. We intend to rent to start with so I would really like for us to be close to both these places......if you have any suggestions about good areas I'd love to hear them! Where are you in Perth?
Thanks for your good wishes! You Ozzies all sound great!!!!:smiliedance:

Hi Jane,
I would love to learn more about what you offer. Will be a little while before we have another but I am interested in hearing about different birthing experiences.
When I had Ava I really wasn't aware of the options I could choose (and I don't think there are many in Perth)
Hope your move goes smoothly and you keep in contact with us here on the Hub so when my time comes, I can pick your brain!
Good luck and I hope you love WA as much as we do.
Hi Jane,
My miracle baby story is a long one but interesting, so to put a long story short.
After trying to conceive with my DF for 5 years, we were both tested and I was told i could Never have kids. I broke my 9yr engagement off, cause he wanted kids and I couldn't give them to him. 3 yrs later I find out I'm pregnant and when I found out I was 7mths, what I did in those 7mths it's a miracle he came out healthy and to add to the whole dramatic story I am single with no help whats so ever from the 'sperm donor' :ecomcity: Anyway thats cut the story really short but you get the jist of it I'm sure.
Ok as for places in Perth, well I'm not really a good one to ask that, I've only been here 1 1/2 yrs and I don't know alot of the places but what I do know may help you on your way. Perth has a river dividing it into what we call NOR and SOR (north of the river and south of the river) Vic Park and Byford are both SOR. Perth CBD is right on the river but NOR. I live way up NOR about 40km from the CBD so if youwould like to live close to DH work then you will be a long way a way from me but thats OK we have Bubhub. :D
Bets place to look for housing is on website www.realestate.com.au or www.reiwa.com.au.
I know not much help but maybe post a thread asking people what the suburbs are around Vic Park and what they are like.

Hi Jane!
So glad you found us! I have the same prob with the forum menu. Sometimes the end of it doesnt load up properly and cuts off the bottom of the threads list! I have the perth's threads list added to my favourites so I dont have to hunt for it! LOL ( Such a geek I know!) Anyway, as Lynda said, those sites will be a big help finding somewhere to move to. Good luck!:fingerscrossed:
ooo - San Antonio eh? I've spent a lot of time there - used to work for the Body Shop at North Star and also down at the River Walk. I'm English originally but have family in San Antonio. I love Texas - what a great state. Perth's kinda like Texas in many regards - you'll know what I mean when you get there.
Anyway, good luck with everything - I'm in Melbourne at the moment but moving across to Perth on 18th September. I've got a teeny tiny bit of family there but otherwise, I'm on my own and new to everything and everyone.
All the best with your move.

To all you ladies that have replied - THANK YOU! Perth sounds like a wonderful place to live and raise children!
Justcooked: I'd love to stay in touch and maybe help with your next DS/DD! Thanks for the good wishes!
loopi1: Wow - that is quite a story! - your DS is such a blessing! You're obviously a very strong lady to get through all that! Thanks for the websites! I'm just about to check them out!
natmcg: Small world! I agree, Texas is a great state but the health system drives me CRAZY!!!! What part of England are you from? I'm a northerner by birth (Rochdale) and then moved to Leamington Spa later on. I should be in Perth late June/early July, so keep in touch and maybe we can meet up!
Keep chatting!:)

Hey - oh I'm a Southerner I'm afraid! From West Sussex...about as Southern as you get :) ...but please don't hold that against me?!!
My partner went to Warwick Uni and lived in Leamington Spa for a year or so though if that counts?! I met him up there 11 years ago - don't remember much about Leamington itself - just that it's fairly easy to get to from Oxford!
So what took you to Texas?
Sounds like you've moved around almost as much as me! Feel free to send me a PM - we should probably exchange emails if you want to meet up because I'm not sure how much access to this I'll have after the move - if you're in my email address book then you're safely tucked away!
Oh and by the way, I'm headed for Vic Park/Como/South Perth area - will be in Vic Park initially while I find a rental - eldest son's school is in South Perth so I kinda need to be closeish to that suburb... Family in Como so that'd be my pick.
Anyway good luck with the move - see you there!!
Im curious as to what exactly a Doula does? Ive heard about them but have no idea what they do apart from obviously helping with a birth.
Youll love Perth, Im not originally from here but I love it like home now!
I live in the Vic Park area and its def close to everything, esp the city. I'd def look on www.realestate.com.au for properties, the rent is pretty reasonable.
Hope you have an easy and smooth transition :)
Hi - so you'll be in the Como/Vic Park area too then?
Where are you from originally? Perhaps I should start a Vic Park/Como/South Perth area thread :)
Anyway, congratulations and I hope all goes well for you!
Nat
England -> San Antonio, USA -> England -> Wellington, NZ -> Melbourne -> Perth 18th September 2006 <stop!>
Yep Im SOR about 7 min drive from Vic Park and Como, near the Casino. I was born in Brisbane but lived most of my life in Sydney :)
Aha - so Burswood area sort of thing... I was curious about an area near there called Lathlain actually - it seemed well located yet cheaper than other suburbs and I was wondering why... I note the railway but in Sydney that seems to increase prices! Not sure if it applies in Perth...
Anyway, good to know that there are other Mums/Mums to be around the Como patch. Perhaps one day I can meet some of you.
Cheers,
Nat
