View Full Version : Glad I stumbled across bubhub
:flowerz:Hi, I'm a newbie who only discovered bubhub earlier today. I was browsing for ideas on coping with relationships and kids when your husband works away, when I came across bubhub. I figured it's polite to introduce myself first. It really looks like a valuable site and I'm looking forward to checking in every now and again. My husband is on a 2 and 1 FIFO which leaves me at home with my strong willed 1 yr old and my extremely helpful 6 yr old. I think some adult interaction will be nice. As you can see I luurrve to chat :ecomcity:. So I'd best sign off for now. Before I bore you too early.
Bye for now

WA. Stratton actually. There seems to be several parents at my DD's school who are FIFO but you don't like to ask them how they handle their's husbands defensive nature on his 1st day back, whilst the rest of the little tikes are standing around you in the classroom. I'm looking forward to hopefully finding out I'm not the only one who misses my DH dearly when he's away, but sometimes can't wait for him to leave again when he's home. Especially when he's spoiling the kids too much. Or am I a spoilsport? He is only home 1 in every 3 weeks. See, told you I could chat. Or should I say ramble.
:wave:Welcome to Bubhub!!!
You'll love it here, but beware it is addictive:devil6:
Hope to see you round soon

Hello and welcome to BH, I am sure you will make some lovely friends here and be addicted before you know it.
Sorry to sound really ignorant but what is FIFO? I have seen it now a couple of times and have no idea what it is. I did search on google but it came up with something and I have no idea if it was correct or not.
I am a pomme so you have to excuse the ignorance!!
Anyway, welcome once again. Jen

The first day i think is a culture shock as you and the kids have missed him and are all over him because he is back and he has just done 12 hours got on a plane, got off a plane and jumped in a taxi and finally got home, he just wants to unwind and we don't let them. we want them to know what they have missed. know that we have missed them and find out how things are with them. I think once they are home for a few days the guilt sets in that is what the spoiling is about, I make DH spoil with time, take them to museums, parks read them stories go for walks anything that the kids will talk about while hes gone and get excited about doing again when he is back. They do unfortunately become part time parents and often the normal (your) house rules go out the window when hes home but if you can stop that then everything is much more enjoyable. Hope that helps

Hi and welcome.
Glad you stumbled across the site. You'll love it here.
Thank you for explaining, it was what I came across on the internet but I wasn't sure if it was the same thing.
Glad you found the site and we look forward to seeing you post around the boards.
