Merredin anyone?

Our family is moving to Merredin next month (26th april) for DH's first teaching job. does anyone live there??? whats it like???

I am pregnant with #3 and will either need another c-section or will try for a VBA2C. Will i need to come to perth???

Oh wow!! All the way out there hun. There is nothing out there. My mum lives not far from there in Kellerberrin.

As far as I know there isnt any obstetric services in the area and you will need to come back to Perth but just double check that.

Dh is ringing them tonight but I think I will just come back to Swan Districts because I know and like them

My SIL is in Kellerberrin, and she went through northam hospital but as soon as she was overdue they sent her to swan districts because they didnt do c-sections or at risk inductions. From memory that was the only hospital out that way that even had someone half qualified for anything like that.

My Dh cousins and aunty lives in Kellerberrin and from memory neither Merredin or Keller have much in way of health care ;) but she just went back to have her baby in Armadale a premmie...
I think as a teachers wife you will find the town pretty friendly and accomodating...though I think like all country WA towns there is certainly a those that have and those that dont hierarchy...

I live about 50km from Merredin and while Merredin DOES have a hospital and other health care facilities (GREAT dentist, physio, chiro, dietician etc) you can't have bubbas in it - it has ultrasound facilities (used them for both pregnancies) though. For a c-section or VBAC, you are definately looking at a Perth hospital, but you could definately do your prenatal checks in Merredin. I had an OB in Perth and did shared care with him and the GP in my town - it meant less frequent trips to Perth, and our GP is just lovely.

Excellent this is exactly what I am looking for!!! My GP said he will write a letter for the GP's in Merredin before I go which is good.

How do you go about getting your ultrasounds there? Does the GP just sign the form and you ring the hospital????? Do you know of any good GP's in or around Merredin??????

I am planning on doing shared care and only coming down when necessary for appointments with Swan Districts. Being my 3rd birth there shouldnt be that many :yes:
