Just thought I'd give an update, I've been a regular with posts about my DS waking @7 times a night since 6 months old... he is 14mths old now. We had always thought I should try and sleep away from him in another room, but I wasn't keen, we tried once and he was inconsolable by DH. So I don't know why we hadn't thought of it before, but just a couple of weeks ago I moved onto a mattress on the floor in our room and DH slept with DS. I though the would still sense I was in the room, but OMG it worked!!! He only woke twice/three times with DH, and he was able to settle him.

This has been a bit up and down over the few weeks and sometimes he has needed rocking or me back in the bed. But now I'm back in the bed and he wakes about 3 times has a quick drink and off to sleep again. Still haven't been able to wean him totally, but at least he isn't attached to me all night!!

I've been awake every 2 hours since he was born, sometime hourly.... And now I've had 4 hours sleep in a row for days on end, and sometimes a bit more !!! :smiliedance::cloud9: :sunshine: So there is a light at the end of the tunnel after all, just took an awfully long time to start shining for us!!!!!! I actually wake up now and give him a little cuddle while he sleeps, and enjoy his peaceful breathing:baby: its the first time I've totally enjoyed co-sleeping.

Not having any expectations, I'm just enjoying while it lasts, and :fingerscrossed: it does.

yeah it is great when it works out.
at 8 months my DD had been waking for months every 40mins-hour at night, so we started co-sleeping...and I would just cuddle her sometimes and she would go back to sleep. other times I would BF her...but they know when they are hungry/thirsty not us.

great to hear co-sleeping is working for you...I love doing it

Hi!

I co-slept with my third. I took him to an osteo when he was a baby because he was feeding (breastfed) every two - 2 & 1/2 hours and not settling. Well - he was a changed baby after that and slept much better and only fed every 3 or more hours. I thought I would have trouble getting him to sleep in a cot later but didn't take long to get him used to it because of the day sleeps. He has only just given up his last night feed at around 14 & 1/2 months and still feeds during the day. I wish I had co-slept with my other two but they always say things like....oh, you are creating bad habits by having them sleep with you, etc. so I would try and put them back in their own beds. Now, both my 5 year old and nearly 4 year old end up in our bed every night and I sleep in one of their beds when I get pushed out and when my youngest wakes. I have no regrets that my kids sleep with me except that I WISH I had a KING size bed
My youngest still feeds more when he is unwell and I think...what the heck, it must be good medicine if he keeps going back to it. All three breastfed and SOOO glad I have been able to even though I had attachment issues with the second and third born. IMHO, babies need love, cuddles and they cry to tell us they need that (aside from being hungry) so why not give them what they need. You can never cuddle too much!
