A surprise finding of a recent study of diet during conception is that whole fat milk and ice cream appear to be among the most potent fertility foods!

It is believed that removing the fat from the dairy products alters its hormone composition, depleting it of estrogen and leaving an excess of male hormones which can effect ovulation.

The study found that one serving a day of low fat milk, yoghurt or ice cream increase ovulatory infertility by 11%, but adding one serving of full fat dairy, particularly milk, decreased it by 22%

The study also found that

- folate supplementation of 700micrograms improved ovulation and conception

- women who took an iron supplement of more than 40mg were 40% less likely to have conception problems, but only if the iron is obtained from fruit, veg, beans and supplements. The different iron found in meat didn't protect from ovulation problems

It is so hard when you have been programmed to think Low Fat all your life, but it makes sense. I keep thinking 10g fat per glass of milk . Now i can have some guilt free!

Plus low fat dairy usually has a ridiculous amount of sugar. I'm looking forward to some nice creamy milk now. My mum made me try an Organic one on the weekend. OMG drool!

Do you mean increased?

It is supposed to say decreased - they are saying it decreased ovulatory infertility.
