Just a question for all you experienced cloth users....

I am going to be switching Ryan from Disposals to the Babybeehinds Bamboo cloth nappy (they are on order and hopefully I will get them in 6-8 weeks once i have finished paying for them!) and I have been told (from a friend who is a cloth user) that he won't like it (as he will feel wet) and it will be difficult...

Is this true?? I don't really want to be buying disposals for him yet cloth for bub #2.....

i dont know where that idea comes from??? i have been asked that too

if you are worried about it being a bit coarse you can try a fleece liner, nice and soft, and will also pull moisture away from bub and keep him dry.

if you have a spotlight near you just buy a metre of fleece and cut up in to rectangles or hourglass shapes, no stiching required as they will not frey. if you dont have a spotlight then just go to an op-shop and buy some old fleece clothes (mens jumpers work well)

the BBH Bamboo should be lovely and soft though

welcome to the wonderful world of cloth:thumbsup:

Exactly what Natalie said, add a fleece liner and he won't notice, in fact he may even find them more comfy.

Can I ask how you friend knows this? What cloth does she use?

Good luck Leisha.

Just make sure you change him often, and I'm sure he won't be bothered in the least :) You'll probably need to change him more often than you would with the disposables, but it really doesn't take long to get the hang of it.

She uses cloth but the "old fashion" cloth.....

When I spoke to Davina (BBH) about it she agreed that the bamboo would be the best choice as it will be softer on his little bum. I just can't wait to get them!!!

I haven't been deterred about her comment - was just curious as if this was going to be the case then my next question would have been how can I make it an easier transion for him... with the obvious of changing him more regularly.

You'll find it most likely your child will prefer the cloth, and if you try to put the disposables back on when your going out/having him babysat he'll actually get grumpy as the fleece is not only much dryer but also softer and more comfy.

I swapped Cooper over to cloth at 17 months-for the first couple of days he did complain a bit but I think it was due more to the size of them not the wetness.
It didn't take long for him to get used to them and I don't hear boo out of him now.....he even has his faves :D
