Help with a TAXONOMY (graphic outline for essay)

I have an assignment due which requires me to read chapter 1 of my textbook and then do a taxonomy about a future essay question. Which is all well and good - I think I've done it right; but I don't actually have my textbook yet. My lecturer and tutors are aware and are giving me a bit of leeway but I would like to submit what I've done if it's correct (show a bit of ingenuity and initiative, y'know :cool:)

So is anyone out here in Bubhub land know about this kind of thing? I assume everyone who has studied at uni has done this - the course is "Academic Literacies" and it's compulsory for all first-year undergrads.

I just want to run it past someone who can tell me "yes this is basically what a taxonomy is" or "no you complete git you've got it totally wrong" :D

I would offer but I never had to do that subject - wasn't something offered when I started uni way back in the dark ages of 1988 :o

Hmm yes I just checked with Google University (:p) on the issue Queen and I still don't get it :o Good thing I'm not at Uni these days, eh?

As far as I can ascertain from the example on the assignment sheet, it's a graphic outline of the essay. So the main theme of the essay, with an arrow pointing to the two main sub-themes, with then arrows pointing to the individual themes of each paragraph.

I think I'll just submit what I've done - my tutors know I don't have the textbook yet, and they've both emailed me back today to say "don't stress, we'll take it into consideration" so hopefully :fingerscrossed: it should be ok.

Hi Perrywinkle - sorry I didn't see your post earlier :o

I didn't get marked yet marymac but I think I did OK, I mean I think I expanded on the essay question enogh. I had a weeks extension because I didn't get my materials until week 2, so I only submitted this yesterday and I tell ya what - I thought after submitting an assignment that I would feel a bit relieved, but I am even more stressed now thinking about what mark I might get!! :laughing:

I'm studying through Charles Darwin Uni, and this subject is CUC100 Academic Literacies :)
