I know all bubs develop at their own pace but I'm curious about crawling. DD is 7 months and can roll onto her tummy (hasn't figured out how to get back over yet though) and has been doing it for about 3 weeks. How long do you think before she puts it all together and starts crawling? She hates being on her tummy after about 5 mins she's had enough :)

My DD just one day up and started crawling. It wasn't a gradual process for her. I encouraged her to crawl by putting toys out of her reach :D. She never did the army crawling thing, just did hands and knees.

:laughing: I've been doing that to see what she does! She'll pivot herself around and around until she can finally grab something. But by then she's had enough of being on her tummy and cracks it :(

Thats my dd down to a T except shes 9mths - can roll on to her back but not the other way, absolutely cant stand tummy time, but can get up on all fours and push herself into a sitting position from that. If she does manage to land on her tummy she whinges while she pushes herself backwards :rolleyes: can be very frustrating!!
Every baby is different - my first couldnt roll over till 10mths and started crawling at 10.5mths, my second could crawl at 8mths but still couldnt roll over till 10mths.
She'll get there, just enjoy this time because once she starts crawling you'll be wondering where your baby went ;)
I think they just generally do it in their own time. My DS is nearly 8 months, and has been commando crawling for3 months. He started rolling at 3.5 months of age. One day they don't look like doing anything, and the next, they're off.
I know it's a little dissappointing when someone elses bubba does something first. They are all different, and all develop differently. I personally, would have been very happy if it took DS a lot longer to get around, cos I can't sit still any longer than 3 mins now....

Yes part of me is very grateful to her for being happy to still play on the mat and not go anywhere :yes: When she does decide it's time to move we'll be in all sorts of trouble. Crawl proofing our tiny tiny and very very old cottage is going to be a nightmare :hair:

DD has been crawling about three weeks, so she was almost 9 months before it finally happened
she'd been up on all fours for a few weeks and looking like at any moment she'd go... took a while but now there's no stopping her!
Yes, they are definitely all little individuals.
DS absolutely hated tummy time too. At about 6 and a half months he was strong enough to get up on his hands and knees and start rocking back and forth. Which brought about more frustration because he couldn't work out how to go anywhere. A couple of weeks later it all fell into place and suddenly he was away.
I know how hard it is not to compare ages and stages...... but sometimes you just can't help it, hey :D
We found we had:
* rolling over
* back arching
* on all fours and rocking
* crawling backwards
* off and racing
* standing aided
* sitting from crawling
* sitting from standing
* cruising the furniture
He was late to roll so all of the above happened from 7 months and he turned 10 months yesterday when he achieved the last 3.
My dd is exactly like yours, she gets on to her tummy from her back no problem but once she gets there she cant get back and starts crying. So i tip her onto her back again and two seconds later shes on her tum crying again. :rolleyes:
I've read somewhere that if you want to teach them to crawl, then lay them on their backs and bring their right hand to touch their left foot a few times and vice versa with other hand and foot.
My dd gets so frustrated being on her back all the time, i cant wait till shes able to sit up by herself.
Does anyone know when this happens? Is it after they start crawling?

My DD started getting sitting together before fully crawling, it all came together at 8mo for her. now just short of 10mo she's fast and happy with crawling, sits fine, sit to crawl or sit to pull to stand, and drops down to a sit from a stand now fine too. she loves gymnastics, we made a big soft spot with pillows around that she can climb up and down, so she gets lots of safe practice. she's cruising furniture a little, and this last week will crawl up to me and pull herself up using my leg or skirt for support and have a cuddle or play some peek a boo.:laughing:
still, she's made life heaps more interesting now i never know where she might got to if i turn my back of duck to another part of the house. we have the exits baby gated but the rest of the house all interconnects and she just zooms around all day from room to room playing with whatever takes her fancy and able to reach quite high and confidently now her standing's been practised so much. she'll pull herself up on anything that comes to hand. there have been alarming moments involving a 9mo climbing furniture to get to other furniture and trying to climb it too -- at only 9MO!!! much faster than we expected this to happen.:confused: where did the baby go???

My DS is 7 months on Friday and he is getting quite good at sitting up by himself...can go several minutes at a time before tipping. He does seem to really enjoy looking around from the new vantage point and playing with his toys in his lap. Often, if he's on his back he'll do "crunches" trying to get up to sit:laughing: so cute!
He is not going to crawl any time soon. Still has to figure out how his arms work to push up.
