I hope you can all ease my fears that I am having at the moment.

We have been TTC now for 8 months. I also suffered from a missed miscarriage in October. I have started properly using FF to track my O this month.

I am now on CD20 and it still hasn't picked up O. I have had low temperarure readings until CD18 where it rose, then it dropped on CD19 and then it rose again today.

The thing is that I just read that late ovulation makes it harder to conceive. My cycle length average is 28, so it's not like I even have a long cycle. Is it true that if you have a short LP that it is harder to get pregnant?

Am I ever going to get pregnant? :gloomy:

Hi gismoduckus. While it is true that a LP less than 10 days can make it hard for the egg to implant, it has been known to happen.

The good news is there are also lots of things you can try to increase your LP.

These include vitamin b6, maca root, vitex (chaste tree berry), acupuncture, chinese herbs, or if all these fail, Clomid (you'll need a prescription for this).

Hi gizmoduckus

Firstly, I am so sorry to hear of your m/c :hugs:

As for your late ovulation- well yes I do agree that if you don't ovulate until day 20 and your cycle is only ever 28 days, then I would assume that you have a luteal phase problem. Like KK said, it is generally believed that anything less than 10 days (I actually thought it was 11 days) can make implantation almost impossible because the lining starts to break away before the egg has a chance to implant.

I have had this problem since TTC. My LP was only 8 or 9 days, and then I started on clomid & vitamin B6 to help lenghten this and get me ovulating more normally. Well the clomid isn't really working for me BUT I have to say that my LP is now approx 10 days which is an improvement and I tend to think it is because of the vitamin B6.

I have heard so many success stories with VitB6 because it works almost instantly in most cases, lengthening the LP within the same cycle they started taking it.

Keep charting your cycle, you may find that you are ovulating a bit later just this once, and therefore your AF might come a bit later. This happens from time to time and isn't really anything to worry about.

Good luck!

Thanks to the both of you for your advice. I got my DH to buy some vitamin B6 yesterday. If it wasn't for you guys, I wouldn't of known that it helped.

I entered in my temp today on FF and it FINALLY came up that I O'd on CD17. That means my LP phase will be smack bang on 11 days long. I am guessing that is on the borderline of being good or bad.

At least I feel a slight bit more postive now. Thanks again.

Good luck with it! I highly recommend the VitB6. You take it all the way through your cycle even after you have ovulated because my Dr told me it was safe if you were to conceive. Are you starting taking it this cycle? The cycle that I first took it, I didn't start until after I ovulated only because I didn't really know about it until then. Well it worked instantly and my LP was longer that very cycle  It might give you that little boost that you need to conceive.

Wishing you all the best :hugs:
