Hi there

I'm wondering if any one else has experienced multiple chemical pregnancies? In the last 9 months since we have been TTC#2 I have had 2 chemical pregnancies and a miscarriage at 10 weeks.

My cycles range from 29-32 days. Today is CD32. I have done a couple of preg tests in the last 2 days and they have only come up very faint postive so I'm 99% sure that it's yet another chemical pregnancy.

Can anyone shed any light on why this keeps happening? :(

hi i dont really have any info just wanted to give you a big :hugs: and :fingerscrossed: that this time it is for real, and you will get a nice strong bfp in a couple of days.
by the way alana is a fab name, its mine too. :D
i found this on google if it helps
Most chemical pregnancies are due to chromosomal problems in the developing fetus. Other possible causes are inadequate uterine lining, uterine abnormalities both congenital or acquired like fibroids, low hormone levels, luteal phase defect (http://www.babyhopes.com/articles/luteal-phase-defect.html) or certain infections. Most chemical pregnancies can not be prevented. If you have recurring chemical pregnancies, your doctor should be able to investigate and help you formulate a treatment which is best for you. Potential treatments include vitamin B6 (at least 50mg a day), progesterone cream, and baby asprin. Be sure to discuss potential treatments with your doctor.

Thanks very much for that info Alana. I'll be seeing my doctor if this turns out to be yet another chemical pregnancy and asking for some tests to be done.

:hugs: and hope you are truely preg for this time.

In some ways it is a good thing that your body is rejecting if there is a chromo problem. I'd rather have a healthy bouncin baby, as it is heartbreaking when you have a sick kid... I couldn't handle it!

But yes, definitely get it checked out if unfortunately it doesn't happen.

Hi Alanasmum,
Very sorry to hear this, I can imagine how horrible it is for you.

That's some very good suggestions that ringneck gave you and I just wanted to add a bit more to that.

I am also TTC'ing and last cycle I had my hormone levels checked via a blood test on cycle day 21. My progesterone levels were quite low so I asked what this meant. The answer was that progesterone is what creates an ideal environment for the embryo and helps it stick. It also creates a nice thick lining of the uterus.

It would probably be a good idea for you to have your progesterone levels checked. I'm pretty sure that you doctor can arrange for this (I am on a fertility program so they arrange it all for me).

Anyway, after I got the low reading I started takng Maca Root tablets, which is a herbal powder that helps with fertility by making the hormones more balanced.
This cycle I had another blood test and my readings are right up there in a good range now, so I think that the Maca Root has helped with that.

If you are interested in this product then do a google search for Maca Root, there are a few sites that sell it in Oz.

Hi,
I have had 2-3

The first was more a m/c as it was above 25 hCG on a BT (hCG 139), m/c at 4.5-5 weeks.

The second was + HPT with AF next day.

The third was + HPT, hCG 8 then 4 in BT followed by AF.

My new FS found out that I have PCO (polycystic ovaries) and I have already been on clomid. Next month I am starting FSH injections to induce O for IUI (insemination). Even though I O on my own, this is to produce a better/dominate follical.

All my hormones are fine and scans are good too. I am assuming PCO is what is causing my m/c and chem pregnancies....

GOOD LUCK

Thank you so much for your support everyone and for giving me some information that I can talk to my doctor about. Still no AF but I have the feeling it will come tomorrow.

i have just had a m/c at around 4 weeks... but how do u know if its a m/c or a chemical pregnancy??
i had BFP followed 2 hrs later by some bleeding, which ended up lasting 4 days, my first BT HCG 60 and 3 days later down to 14.... so i assume that was a m/c.

My OB said that a HCG level over 25 (or around that number) is considered a pregnancy.

I've just had 3 early M/C in a row - all at around 5 weeks. I've had tests and there doesn't seem to be any reason for them. I'm currently taking some time out from TTC to give my body time to get back to normal.
