I have made some calls about celebrants, and I am wondering how much is 'normal'?
I have had quotes ranging from $500 upwards, with the most expensive being about $1600:eek:
And what do they do? for that fee?

For $1600, I would expect alot?

Sorry another wedding questions:p

3 years ago (in Vic) we paid $350.. but that included heaps!

* Home visits - she came to see us about 3 times to work everything out
* Rehearsal a few days before
* PA system for the day, plus she bought all the music (and made us a personalised CD of the wedding music)
* Folders (to keep) full of wedding poems, examples of vows, wedding ettiquette etc
* Table, chairs to sit at to sign the certificate (it was in a park)
* Her hubby also came and took photos on the day, and he gave us a CD of them, she also gave us lovely copies of our vows
* In the end, she organised most of it, I had just found out i was pregnant and we were both in shock!

We got married in 99 with a celebrant, and I think we only paid around $150. We met, signed the intention to marry, and he gave us some examples of readings. We worked out what we wanted in our ceremony, got back to him. He turned up on the day and read it, we signed the certificates, presented us with a print out of the reading and then he left. All in all I think our ceremony was only abour 5min long. So maybe they now charge by how much work they have to do, but $1600? HUH?

I got married on the 14th of March this year.

Our celebrant was wonderful. She charged $450 in total ($100 of that was to submitt our intent of marriage form, and $350 was her fees).

We met with her twice, and also met with her when I was scouting locations (she offered to come out and help with ideas on how to set it up). She put alot of work into our ceremony as she incorporated collecting seashells from the guests, and a sand pouring ceremony. She also gave us a bound book with our entire ceremony.

She brought to the ceremony a signing table and pen, she had a PA system with a mic for her so that the guests could hear (was discreet over the ear type ones), a wireless mic for us to read our vows into and she also let us plug in our ipod for the cermony music :)

She was so lovely, she really went that extra mile for us and I think every cent was worth it!!

Ok, so about $500..

I can not believe $1600 either its shocking. I got several quotes (four) over $1000:no:

Scarlet was your celebrant in Perth?

Anyone else want to share?
