I posted in the WA section as well..
Dh and i are looking at be posted to Rockingham in the next few weeks. (Mid May to June) with the Navy
Was just wondering if there were any other mums there? What is the area like? We will be in a defence home. Is there any good primary schools near there? And what is the job vacancies like? (Property Manager).
Also what age do they start school there?
Thanks
Mel

hi there
As i have just moved to Calista (5mins from Rockingham), im not a mother of my own But if this helps i walked into employment within 2 business days of being here. im not exactly sure about the primary schools and what they are like, But i do know they start preprimary (the same as kinder and or prep) at the age of 4 and it is a kindy on the school campus, they then go into grade 1 at the age of 5.
I have only been here for 4 weeks, so i have not spent much time at Rockingham as of yet, i know the foreshore is nice and Rockingham city shopping centre is awesome and still expanding .
Good luck with your transition! if you have not already been here you will absolutely love it!
If you have a look on the jobsearch sites you are bound to find lots of employment in the area.

great thank you for that info
Hi Mel,
We've been here since 21 Dec and DH is in the Navy also. We love living here after spending 2yrs in Darwin. We live in Waikiki which is a hop and jump away from Charthouse Primary where my two go.
The beaches are great, Rockingham Foreshore has many playgrounds and coffee shops over the road.
It's hard finding friends though and I've had to resort to baby forums although I met one lady and her friend from a defence spouse forum and a couple from baby forums.
I've actually spoken to the DFA rep to see if they can get a page on the website where spouses can login and put in their brief details so if others in the area want to meet up .. they can email the person. DCO are useless but also because communication lacks so much around here, noone knows about any event so therefore a pretty **** poor turnout.
If you get a DHA house that's great.
My kids are aged 11yo DS, 9yo DD1 and 16.5mth old DD2.
