View Full Version : Cloth Breast Pads
I know this isn't about nappies, but thought I'd post here as well as in the Breastfeeding page to pick the brains of all you cloth experts....
Wondering what fabric is most absorbent for breast pads? Would like something not too bulky, although bulkiness for night time would be fine.
I'm not sure what fabric is most absorbent but I use organic cotton washable ones. They feel really nice and I don't find them overly bulky or anything. I haven't had any problems with leakage etc.
I've made myself some out of the scraps from my nappy making.
Just a circle of PUL overlocked together with a double layer of bamboo fleece.
They're thin and flat and comfy. They deal quite well with my small level of leakage but I'm not sure if you were a heavy leaker.

I was having problems with leaking overnight when bubs would change his sleeping habits. The ordinary cloth ones I bought from Kmart weren't doing anything so I bought a set of PUL backed pads from Natures Cradle online and they worked an absolute treat. They are quiet bulky, so only suitable for night time use, but held in a lot of leakage and didn't even feel wet in the mornings. The only reason I knew I had leaked was because I usally leaked from one side so had one heavy breast pad and one not so heavy.
