Ive got a bit of a dilema.. I cant choose a nice name for my son(due to enter the world 16-8-06).
I dont want him to have a name that is really common like John or Daniel etc.
I like names that are a bit different, but not really wierd...
Can you please help me?????
All replies will be greatly appreciated.
Hi Mummy 2 b. Hubby and I decided on a main stream name for our little man but before that the short list was-
Kalen
Caelum
Zared (rhymes with jarrod)
We both read a lot of fantasy novels which are good for picking up unique names or names not often used.
We've choosen the name Hugh for our bundle of joy, prob won't need it though as we think she's a girl!
I myself also like Lachlan, Henry or Harry and Charlie. They are pretty popular though.
Hope to be some help. Have a read through some of the old threads under choosing babies names for some inspiration. I got my inspiration from reading old family tree books.
hi my sons names Jakeb, love the name, but as you can imagine we have to correct the spelling all the time! Hmmm So old fashioned names have there benefits.
I have some faves that are different - but not unheard of... i think. Here goes:
Dominic
Damon (i love these both!)
Gabriel
Miles
Raphael (99% the name we will give our firstborn son - if it 'fits')
Xavier (Think that may be one of Mels kids name - love it)
Oliver
Oscar
Rory
Zachary (my nephews name)
Seth
Asher
Marcus (not all that uncommon - still a nice name though)
Tallon (have to be a strong willed boy to wear this name i think)
Brock
Aidan
Roman
Thats it for now. Hope you like some of these.
Yeah I forgot about Miles, one of our other favs
I also like Archer and Fergus but Angus would have nothing to do with either of those! I do like Angus too but I'm probably just biased cause I married such a good one!
I love Miles but a friend of mine named her little boy that and for ages the only way I could remember it was by association miles = piles. Still love the name though
We're naming our son Eamonn (pronounced Aymon). I also like Jude, Noah, Jacob, Aidan and Thomas.

our short list was Logan, Corey, Jaiden but we settled on Aaron 2 weeks before he was born and it really suits him. I think of the other 3 that we had picked when I look at him and none of them suit him.
My brother called his little boy Jamin (pronounced Jaymin) which I really liked and it is not a common name.
Hi,
My Short list for my littlie Raiden was Elijah, Declan, Brewster, Saxon And Ezekiel Still all favs!! Its so hard to find uncommon names that dont sound to silly!!

I was reading this week's That's Life magazine and in it was a boy who's name was Tallan. I thought it sounded good!!
Other unusual names I have come across are:
Jye
Jayden/Kayden
Zen
Maybe you can go to a bookstore, have a look in the baby names book for ideas (don't buy the book!!!). LOL, that's what I did, looked up the names with their meanings! Good luck!! Choosing a baby's name is so exciting.
I love Ezekiel - and such a great nick name too 'Zeke'

My fave boys names at the moment are Caliem and Jackson.
In the hopes that we caught the eggy this month my DH has actually been researching names and our fav at the moment is Blake. Still mainstream but not overly popular - at least I think not. Ravi, Hunter, Finn.....

I love Wyatt, Bennett, Garrett, Emmett and Angus but as our son's surname will be Jones, my husband keeps telling me they sound too much like cowboys!!! (or big scary american football playing guys...)
My DH is of Scottish descent and his name is Alexander, so we've chosen Alasdair (which means Alexander) and Royce for a middle name. Other faves are Seth, Xander, Rhys and Jai.

I find boys names the hardest - and as we have no idea whatsoever what bump is we had to think about both...I have always wanted to call a little boy Holden - it is my family name - ie: generations of my dads side have it as a 2nd name - comes from when two families married into each other turn of last century I think - prob interbreeding! ha ha :D But I also loved the name from when I was a teen and I read 'catcher in the rye' in English...so its never really been a decison Andrew my DH he loves the name too but I have experienced constant flack from his rellies here in Oz and actually my mother back home who say you can't call a child the name of the biggest motor company in Australia...
BUT we love it so stuff it if bump is a boy - he will be Holden Michael :smiliedance:
I actually like Miles and Rory too but DH doesn't and I think when you know and it feels right its gotta be the one!
One of my son's friends is Harley, and all I used think if is the motorbike, but eventually it grew on me and dont think of it anymore.
Georgie, I think the name Holden sounds pretty good actually.
I have always wanted a Sebastian, Xavier, or Lachlan, DH however never agreed :(
So we have a Corey, Jordan, Jarrod, Hayden, Riley.

I think Holden is a lovely name :D Very strong without being overbearing
I LOVE the name Torana for a girl (sorry, this is off the main topic :o), but considering DH's obsession with Torana cars we would get waaaay too much flak for it. Such a pity because I think it is a really beautiful name once you can disassociate it from the cars (like Holden).
We named our DS Oscar, but some others that we were considering were....
Tyler
Rick
Jack
DH also likes Ernie, but considering we already have Oscar and we have a niece called Zoe I think it would be just a few too many Sesame Street characters for one family
What about miles, blair, carey, caden, damon, seth, liam, I know someone who named there son kincade.
Here's a few i like:
Taj
Jamon
Jakob
Tallyn
Kaleb
Noah (DF doesn't like this one :( )
Jarrod
Kurt
Or what about:
Blade
Blake
Steel (knew a guy called this. kinda weird at first but now i think its kinda cool  )
Good luck!

Hiya...
Maybe you could try searching the web.
I'm a school teacher and i felt i limited to names as there was too many names that i could relate to a child at school ( particularly naughty ones!).:(
I spent a great deal of time on the web trying to find a name was unusual but not too weird ( like apple:rolleyes: ). DH and i were also keen on the meanings of names too.
We ended up calling our son Reuel- which means Friend of God. It's pronounced Roo-el. I don't know why, but DH and i wanted a boys name starting with R.
There are some great web sites out there. Do a search on a good search engine for 'baby names'. You could spend hours looking.
Have fun.....
Mrs Little & Son.
I'm not really into totally unusual names but I do like names that stand out a bit.
For boys we like Austin and Noah. I like Jasper and Oscar but DH is really not keen on them!
Goodluck with your decision:yelclap:
I wanted Jaxon or Jakeb (but DP wouldn't let me). DP wanted Marlin (and I wouldn't allow that).
Other suggestions (not particularly ones I would use, but what the hey!!):
Chase
Morgan
Regan
Campbell
Slater
Micah (say it like Mike-a)
Peirce
for a name thats not too unusual but abit different i have chosen
ashton
kurt
or brock

Hi,
We had trouble deciding on a boys name as my little man is my fourth boy.
We called him khyden Dominic. Most people tell me it is unusual but nice. Food luck with your baby.
