hi,

i feel really bad atm. my son has the worst nappy rash i have ever seen. i don't know how this could have happened. this is my third so i know if you leave them in a wet/dirty nappy too long this can happen, but i also know this is just not me, i change him honestly probably a little too often.

i have been using curash cream on him for 3 days now, i know from older boys that i prefer sudoderm (?) but they had none at shop other day when i got this. i thought this one was very similar to sudoderm.

i wanted to ask if anyone has had a baby with a nasty nappy rash that didn't get it from being wet/dirty? also for any suggestions to help clear it. the curash just doesn't seem to be helping, i will try for sudoderm tomorrow but hoping someone has had this before and can help

sorry to ramble a bit i am just really embarrassed but his rash, but at same time i am sure he hasn't been left in dirty nappy for any amount of time. but how else can they get nappy rash????

do you have any bepanthenem at all? Paw paw maybe? To try help things i would stop using wipes just wipe bubs bum with a facewasher or cotton wool etc and water, give bubs lots of nappy free time as well too, even see if you can get a little sun to it as well, within reason of course :)

Maybe his teething or eaten something or had a poo thats burnt his bum? could be a few things really

Is the rash made up of lots of red dots?

It could be a thrush infected nappy rash. My ds2 had it a month or so ago due to strong antibiotics. It was awful, red raw and peeling and he'd wake during the night screaming in pain. I took him to the doctor and he told me to get Resolve Plus cream. It cleared it up after 2 applications  It has cortisone in it so it's not an every day use type cream so maybe check with your gp or chemist. I highly recommend it.

thanks pb, could be teething, he is almost 7 months. but good suggestions, i hadn't thought of just water to clean him with, and i have been using more wipes lately to make sure it is clean, i have probably been aggravating it. i will stop using wipes, and give him nappy free time tomorrow, i do have paw paw ointment i think so i will try that too. thanks

when Ds gets a rash from teething
i put him in terry flats smoother his bum in paw paw slave and change him at every wee
or just let him run around most of the day without a nappy on
always clears up within a few days. he was bad a few weeks ago,He cut 5 teeth in one week! and his bum blistered :(

just let his bum get ALOT of air!

and wash in nothing but water!

Thank you!!! My DS has gotten the worst nappy rash I have ever seen. It's gotten to the point of peeling, and so we were off to the dr's tomorrow (hopefully!), but I might just try the chemist first, that that cream. He's been on all sorts of antibiotics lately, including steriods...

oh and use cloh wipes with nothing but water on them!
the horrid chemicals in sposie wipes will do nthing but irritate it, and not to mention hurt like crazy on his bum when you are changing him!

Well I hope it works as well for your little man as it did for mine  Must be so sore for the poor little things.

Another is also Daktozin, it is a thicker paste than resolve. Keep in mind if the nappy rash is there for longer than 3 days (ish) chances are it is a fungal infection and nappy rash cream will do nothing:)
