I have been on metformin for 1 week and I was already three days into my cycle when I started, and the bleeding has slowed down but not stopped.10 days bleeding. Does anyone have a similar experience or explanation to share? Im not that concerned about the bleeding as it is very light and very dark mostly but a few spots of pinkish blood too. (TMI):barf:
Seeing as my body hasnt been having a 'normal' cycle for........... EVER! Maybe it is my uterus shedding the layers or 'catching up' with what it is supposed to do. Just a theory but would love to hear anything you have to offer.

Hey there, just wanted to let you know ur not alone.

I have been on metformin for years and before when i started I actually had a period for 7 months of straight bleeding.

Metformin doesnt make you regular but can assist in doing so, I take three tablets a day and slowly worked my way up to this and I am fine on this dosage. It takes a while, like when you start taking vitamins, for the metformin to actually kick in. So you will probably find that it will take a few cycles before u even start to notice a difference. iykwim?

So keep your chin up and just hang in there for the moment :) If you ever have any questions feel free to drop me a pm :)

I bled for 13 days I think my first cycle on metformin. If you hadnt had af for a while before starting it, its clearing out all the extra lining, if that makes sense. I would give it a few more days and if you're still bleeding, ask your dr about it...it could be regulating your hormones too. Good luck! :)
