Just wondering what people use to treat this...my little DD has been on some augmentin forte for an ear infection and was giving her daktarin gel in the mouth for oral thrush even though she didnt have it cause last time she got oral thrush and doctor said to just give it to her to help prevent it or treat it straight away if it was to pop up....looks like she has vaginal thrush now though and not sure what to use....any advice would be good :) heading off to the chemist soon.

No advice sorry but I would be getting a doctors opinion before using anything on her, just in case its not thrush..

My DD has had vaginal thrush due to me overusing an antibiotic ointment in her genital region, as she had school sores around her nappy area.
I just stopped using what i had been told to and let it clear up by itself.
This is why i HATE using anti-biotics full stop. They cause more problems than they are worth half the time. :hair:

She probably needs some oral fluconazole or nystatin from your GP but you could try giving her some live yoghurt to eat, [works for me!]. And you are wiping from front to back? Daft question, but I've seen so many people do it the wrong way, [mainly Dads].

Vitamin C and acidophillus has cleared up both mine and my two girls every time.

I gave 250mg VitC every two hours when the girls were that age - if her poo gets runny reduce the dose. And acidophillus a couple of times a day. This'll clear it up within 48 hours.

poor little bugger. What a horrible thing to go through. I know i hate it when i get it, so its really sad she has to do with it. I'd be going to the gp, not mucking around with this one. She'd be so uncomfy

When DD had thrush (it looks different to what WE have as thrush as well... I don't even know how it's the same thing... it looked like terrible terrible nappy rash... not the itchy cottage-cheesy discharge women get - I didn't even know it was thrush until doctor said that's what it was, I just thought it was terrible nappy rash), I was told to use daktozin cream.

It's about $20 for the big tube from the chemists... which is annoying, because it's such a thick cream, you're likely to need more than just hte one tube. You keep applying it even after you can see any visible signs of the thrush too...

But yeah, it worked really really well.

thanks guys....i went to the chemist and they had no idea....small chemist with two old ladies behind the counter...in the end i just asked for some kids inner health and we are back off to the doctors today anyways cause gg is sick with a bad cold and is playing with her ears again so fingers crossed not another ear infection. I know you can mix some inner hjealth up in water and put it down below...u can even do it with yohgurt so i'm just going to do the natural thing and if the doc reckons she needs something more i will do it but for now i will try this i think :)
