I know this has probably been asked a thousand times, so if there are other threads could someone please direct me to them but im just trying to get a list of what not to eat when Im pregnant,
the only thing I know that I usually eat that cant now im pregnant is soft serve ice cream because of the uncooked egg in it but other than that im not sure what else applies to me as I dont eat meat or seafood anyway.
TIA

unpasturised food, soft cheeses like Brie, food that has unpasturised milk etc in it, raw meats, deli salads, deli cut meats like ham, honey cos of its spores, shell fish, some other fish due to mercury eg tuna steaks and salmon I think but there is others I think too. No sushi - no raw fish. Becareful of rice make sure it is fresh. I am sure there is other things some people can come up with

I eat everything

Seriously though... I don't eat any of those foods they say not to so it isn't an issue for me, but, I am careful about hygeine now and if I eat out, I am sure to have it freshly cooked, steaming hot.

Check out the safefood website. It has a comprehensive list of things to avoid whilst pregnant. The "no-no" on soft serve is the risk of the bacteria Listeria which is found in the machines that aren't cleaned properly. Pretty much any unpasterised cheeses, processed meats such as salami, bratwurst etc, raw seafood such as oysters, sushi etc are what to avoid. You can go to the extreme and avoid so much you really don't have much choice in food left or you can just be sensible and avoid high risk foods its really personal choice. Check out the website though as its a guideline by the NSW health authority.

I still eat honey. I have it on my toast every morning. Ive never heard of honey being unsafe. Just the processed deli meats etc I eat the meat from the individual packets in the fridge at the supermarket. And I avoid soft cheese, ie brie and camberet :( no more deep fried camembert for me.

Maybe the deal with honey is not to eat it when its not heat treated. Commercial honey you buy from the supermarket in bottles would be fine it could possibly be just the fresh stuff you buy from markets etc. This is just a guess so feel free to correct me.:flowerz:

I can't wait to be able to eat soft serve again.:D

that could be true Kylza I can't remember the exact reason. And maybe just stick the the Aussie brand ones perhaps as some other countries add other stuff.

with the soft serve, I heard Maccas may be ok, because it is mandatory for them to clean their machines every night?

I have been pinning all my hopes on this- I really want a sunday  but I haven't had one yet, I just wanted to know definitively!

Annndd... You know how they say avoid salad bars? I had Subway last night :o there was nothing in the house, and I really wanted salad.... that's not too bad, right?

i have to say i ate alot of soft serve ice-cream while pregnant with my son, and i'm pregnant again and i eat a heap of ham because i'm craving it. tinned tuna is ok to eat. i've eaten some cabana too. the only thing that i haven't eaten that i absolutely love is the soft cheeses but other than that i haven't had any issues with anything else. oh and i've had some of the potato salad you get from coles and it was orgasmic too. i've asked a friend about this who's having her 4th child and i asked a midwife about this. and they agree that most of what i've actually eaten is fine and i made sure i ate the potato salad when i got it and none after that and everything's been ok so far.
