Hi All

I am after a good baby healthcare book. I want one that has things like what is a high temperature, basic first aid and comon childhood illnesses.

Anyone know of a good one.

Thanks

I've used a couple of books. One for infancy (baby love by Robin Barker) and then another for children (what to expect in the toddler years).

It depends on how much detail you want. I also have Kidwrangling by Kaz Cooke which is a nice overview of age 0-5 and has resources to other places if you then need more detail.

Its not a book but I did get some useful info fromt eh Huggies site about first aid and general health for babies. You could always print it out.

I was also going to suggest Kaz Cooke's Kidwrangling. She does give details on what counts as a high fever and information on dealing with common illnesses (colds, gastro, etc). There is also a good overview of the diseases for which immunisations are given. She doesn't get into first aid, but to be honest I think I learnt more from a 6 hour first aid course than I would from any book, and retained it better in my brain to actually be able to apply it.

i swear by Baby Love by Robin Barker. She's been a midwife for 25+ years, and gives really practical, hands-on and non-judgmental advice on everything you could think of in the first 12 months. I also hav e Kidwrangling by Kaz Cook, but am nowhere near as impressed by this, and hardly ever look at it.

I totally agree, Baby Love is the BEST book I have seen personally for anything and everything relating to baby. I was actually shocked by the amount of detail in that book!! It's fantastic. Totally recommend it
