Hi All
I will try and keep this short. I am looking 2 still move to Bunbury in the coming yr or so. Jusy chasing any info pros and cons re the schools as oldest is in kindy this yr, middle will start kindy in 2010, and youngest 2012. At moment she is attending St Josephs where we are and if I can I am wanting 2 hopefully keep them private and catholic but I guess time will tell. I know there is a St Joes in Bunbury, but I know its not in the best area in town. Likewise I know there is St Marys and another Catholic school in Australind. Does any1 have any kids that goes to any of these and what do yoiu think? Likewise if u dont use any of these but use 1 of the public schools, what do u think?
Likewise, what area would you recommend or where would you keep away, etc? ie when we were looking back in 06, we were advised to try and keep away from Withers and Carey Park, (no offence to any1 if they live there).
Any info good or bad would be appreciated. As at the moment I am wanting to try and suss out schools and hopefully live not 2 far away from where that is, ie i dont really want 2 live at one part of town and have 2 travel to the other side to go to school, child care, work, etc.
Thanks again.

hey hey:p

Were you looking at renting or buying? Australind and Eaton areas are a bit cheaper, though the private schools are closer to town, and out towards Dalyellup.
I only really know of two private schools, one Bunbury Catholic School, that is in Wollaston, and Bunbury Cathedral Grammar, out on Bussell Highway.

There are heaps of public schools, and like you I have heard Withers and Carey (scary lol) Park are bad areas, I think this is because previously these areas were State housing areas, though in saying that I know alot of people who live in those areas with no hassles.

Good luck, feel free to PM me anytime, or post here.:hugs:

Just came across this post, but am about to head out, but I'll come back to it tomorrow for you ... I've lived here all my life so can probably tell you a bit about 'the place'.

Oh, and 'Scarey Park' isn't as 'scary' as it used to be either  ... coming from someone that lives in Dalyellup, it can be just as bad out here in some parts too

Hi Rowiechb & Bubble*crazy
At the moment I am looking at buying, but i first want to c what info I can find out about the schools, etc 1st as I dont want 2 really buy a house 1 end of Bunbury and end up having 2 take the kids 2 school the otherside of Bunbury if u know what I mean. Plus I also will need 2 look at work op.... esp just being me and the kids now..... I am hoping I will not have 2 go back 2 work fulltime for a few year as the kids hav already lost 1 parent, they dont need 2 loose the other 2 having 2 work all the time 2 make ends meet iukwim. Plus Im going some external study as well.... so I do have a heap of things 2 consider :)
Hoping 2 get some local knowledge as where we are now I can easiely say what areas in town 2 keep away from and what schools are better for reasons... whether that be sure the teachers could be great... but being the neighbourhood that the school is in and, etc. But a lot of that is due to living here all my life so its a easy thing 2 do. But where as looking at Bunbury.... a lot I will be by chance / honest opinions of other / etc.
House wise Im hoping to get something in a family friends area that isnt miles away from places ie school, work, shops, parks, etc. Will hopefully be getting a brick 4 bedroom with hopefully at least 750sqm block as we need an ok size yard for the kids swings, tramp, etc and room for them 2 run as well as 4 the 2 dogs, cat and bunny. Would love a place that could be walking distance to school, etc but I know that might be pushing it as where we are now we a central, short walk to school, shops, parks, etc. Still Safe enough to walk at just about any time of the day/night.
Eitherway a lot will ride on the school as DD1 loves her kindy at the moment which I feel has helped re settle with everything that happened last year, etc. And if I can keep the kids happy, safe, etc then that will hopefully eliminate further problems in the future iukwim.
Anyway any info is much appreciated good and bad and i will leave this where it is a hopefully it all makes sense.
Thanks again
K :)
