ultrasound: need help in Brisbane

Hi, I'm at 17 weeks and will have a ultrasound test next week. Try to find out which clinic does the bulkbill. Or which one is cheaper. Anybody can help? Thank you very much

Which hospital are you going through? If its a public one you can get it done at no cost at the hospital. You could also call the individual ultrasound places and ask.

Where abouts are you? We are going for our 2nd scan on the 6th June. We are going public, but have decided to get this scan done outside the hospital. The midwives have said that the hospital one is good - but doesn't give you a great picture (this scan won't cost us anything).

As we aren't paying a lot by going public, we decided on choosing one outside, it will cost us $165 up front, but we will receive about $85 back from medicare. So we reckon paying $80 for peace of mind is not too bad.

Thank u, rell and nkenward. I'm in Ipswich but close to Brisbane. I was booked in Mater. If it could be done in the hospital without any cost, I will definitely try. (Very cheap these days :)) Looks like all other ultrasound places are privately owned and will charge about $70 after claiming from the medicare.

Iv had about 6 scans so far and am having bubs at mm aswell, 3 of my scans were done there and were very clear. Are you delivering at Ipswich or Brisbane?

Hi Carista I m from Ipswich too. My son had an ultrasound at Southern X ray clinics at Mt Ommaney there is also one in Ipswich and it was Bulk Billed. It may be different with pregnancy ultrasounds but you could try them their number should be in the phone Book. Good Luck

Hi Jes, I'm deliverying at Brisbane 'cause my doctor said Ipswich Hospital is not big enough. This is my first baby and I'm a bit nervous now :D .
