Okay. The baby is not here yet but i have been testing out my steriliser. I have never used one before and i followed the instructions. 200mls of water, put my breast pump and bits in. With my microwave it works out to 2mins on top power. Did this then left it the recommended 2 mins. I assumed eveything would come out dry??? But it is moist. What are you meant to do? The instructions dont say anything. Am i meant to keep the lid on for hours till it drys out. Or should it be dry straight away?

Any help would be very much appreciated. These are probably silly questions, i just have no idea.

The water sitting on the bottles and pump is sterile (ie no germs) so there is no need to do anything with it at all. It won't stay sterile if you take it out of the microwave steraliser, and will only stay sterile in there for 8 hours, so you can't steralise them WAY in advance and store them, if that's what you were thinking that you were going to do...But you can take your breastpump straight out and use it without drying it off or anything.

HTH :)

I have the avent microwave steriliser and it's been great for us.

My routine was wash bottles at end of day in hot soapy water then hot rinse and sterilise. Once that was done I would fill them with sterilised water and put them in the fridge ready for the next day. I also had one of the avent "formula carry thingies" and would measure out 2-3 feeds makes it much quicker especially if you have a screaming hungry baby at 4am !!!!!!!

All the best :flowerz:

I thought I had the same problem when I started using mine. Everything comes out covered in water and I thought it would make my milk go funny through the breast pump. But my CHN advised the same as above, that the water is sterile. If you try to dry it off with a towel or something then you take away the sterilisation. Just let the things air dry for a few minutes before you use them
