ARGGG !! my fil is so GRRRR

well we are having a engagment party next month and as i have to pick up my ds1 and ds2 from the airport mid morning from syd airport but also i always cater for every party i have but this time i wanted to enjoy my self not having to worry etc........ but fil pipped up last night as we were going to get a spit roast dinner delivered so i didnt have to worry about food he said last night you should not waste your money on food i will cater it GGGRRRRR:banghead: :mad:
so as i have been not happy all day as my parents have said they will pay for the food etc but No he said i will do a bbq etc i now im so ****ed off as i just wanted to do my own thing as i know i will be having to reheat stuff etc i just wanted it to arrived and be placed on a table and everyone eat

am i being unreasonable :hissy:

Why can't you do both? Tell him it is lovely that he has offered, could he bring some salad / bread / entre / dessert / drinks (just make sure you ask him to bring stuff that needs no prep, or make sure he's prepared to prep)? Tell him that you don't want to dissappoint your parents, they were so looking forward to helping you out with this :ecomcity:

I think there must be a way to meet your objective of not having to do any food prep AND make use of your FIL's assistance. Win / win :D

We just had our engagement party (23rd of Feb) and oh my goodness it was crazy. We catered our own spit roast, salads, finger food, deserts, etc etc :dizzy: it was crazy.. but it was worth it, my DF is a chef so that helped A LOT. He had 5 huge salads made within about 20 minutes!!

If I did it all again though, I'd probably get it catered so we could just sit back and relax coz all i did all night was run around bringing food out :banghead: didnt get much time for photos or anything.

It was a good night though! Good luck!!! I think you should go with what you think is right.. tell you FIL thanks for the offer and like xkwzit said, get him to cater the deserts or some salads or anything else besides the mains!!

thanks for your replies yeah very good points you both have brought up i would like to relax and enjoy myself as when i have partys that i do im running around doing stuff so i know i will not enjoy myself.
i told df today well you can help your dad do the food as i wont be and he soon said you do what you like i tell him so yeah as long as i helped fil df was happy about but now i said no you will be helping your dad not me hes changed his mind funny that hey :confused:
