Hey all,
I am feeling so sick with the flu and was just wondering am I allowed to take sudafed*pe while breastfeeding it dosnt say anything about it on the pack only not to take it if pregnant.
 ... not advisable to take it whilst bf - it can go through you milk to bubs as well as dry your milk up....

No, sudafed has pseudoephedrine in it, which is essentially synthetic adrenaline. It passes through the breastmilk and can make your baby quite hyperactive. Also, anything that dries your sinus' out can also dry your milk ducts out. Best not to risk it.
You CAN take nurofen to take down the inflammation of your sinus', which should help with the headache, and panadol or panadeine. You can also try steam inhalations (Hot water in a shallow bowl, cover your head and the bowl with a towel and inhale the steam), FESS saline nasal sprays, several of nasal-spray decongestants (ask your pharmacist which ones), eucalyptus oil on a hanky to clear your nose, and vicks vapour rub on your chest and back.
Hope you're feeling better soon...

Lucky for bubhub other wise if I didn't ask I would of assumed seeing it is not written on the pack it would be OK . I will be definitely off to the chemist in the morning to find something to help in the mean time i will just take a panadol and hope the kids sleep through the night so I can go get some sleep
