Hi there,

my DD has sever sathma and has been diagnosed since she was 17mths. After she ended up in intensive care!

We have no history except my older brother who has had asthma all his life but never been into hospital for it and doesnt take a preventor. I have been told that doesnt count as 'family history'

I was just wondering how many of our children have asthma with no family history?

Hi there,

Sorry for the late reply, my son has RAD (reactive airways disease) which is consisdered a form of asthma but it is related too him being premature and having lung issues from birth.
I have seen research on bubs that have had RSV (a form of the common cold) in the first year being more prone to RAD and asthma but it would depend on the asthma type.
PICU is the worst place so I hope you never have to go back there again!
